What's wrong with fighting for the third space?

Can't we resolve all these Trans vs feminist issues with a third space option?

Male/Female as well as unisex intimate spaces
Unisex for those who do not mind (or don't want to wait ages for the bog!) But M/F spaces respect those who have religious reasons for intimate spaces away from the opposite sex and also people who need these spaces because of trauma.

Prison's for transgender folk who feel threatened in male spaces.
Nobody should be at risk from sexual violence

Domestic violence and rape crisis support services for transwomen.
Don't trans folk deserve specialist services? If I was a victim of assault I would want people who understood me to provide support

This is all I want and I am sure many women on this sight feel the same. Is this a valid working compromise?

Indeed; read: womanmeanssomething.com/1034-2/

DadJoke · 11/07/2018 10:35

Prachet That is a terribly design, wherever it is.

JackyHolyoake · 11/07/2018 10:35

DadJoke sex segregated spaces, schemes etc are written in law; see the Equality Act 2010:

www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2010/15/contents

BettyDuMonde · 11/07/2018 10:36

the need for privacy is not confined to people with XY chromosomes

Uh, yes, we know that.

But we’re XX people (with some XXX & XO variants) so we’ll take care of our privacy and you can help out with ensuring privacy for XY people.

Turned out, that was easy, huh?

Pratchet · 11/07/2018 10:36

The law, in Seattle

prevents those restrooms from being restricted to a specific sex or gender identity

That's the toilet you have to use if you are a woman at the Convention Centre in Seattle

What's wrong with fighting for the third space?
Pratchet · 11/07/2018 10:38

Pratchet you've swerved the issue into prisons, and avoided the question. In addition, the reason you would prefer to share a cell with Bucky Angel is because you think he is a woman, and there is a name for that

What name? What on earth are you talking about. What name?

BettyDuMonde · 11/07/2018 10:39

Crikey, Pratchet!

Thank crap our government have rules about floor-to-ceiling solid walls for unisex public toilets!

Bowlofbabelfish · 11/07/2018 10:39

n addition, the reason you would prefer to share a cell with Bucky Angel is because you think he is a woman

dadjoke do you believe humans can change sex?

RatRolyPoly · 11/07/2018 10:39

Has DadJoke said they're a man, or are you just going on the name?

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 11/07/2018 10:39

you think he is a woman and there is a name for that.

Factual?

JackyHolyoake · 11/07/2018 10:39

DadJoke transitioners, GNC, NB, and any females or males who choose to use mixed sex facilities can do so.

What we are saying is that females need sex-segregated facilities for their safety, privacy and dignity; males need sex-segregated facilities for their safety, privacy and dignity.

So, we need three distinct sets of facilities. Alternatively, given the very specific nature of the needs of females, all male facilities could be converted to mixed sex.

Pratchet · 11/07/2018 10:40

Obviously going on the name. Why.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 11/07/2018 10:40

you think he is a woman and there is a name for that

Biologically correct

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 11/07/2018 10:40

you think he is a woman and there is a name for that.

Gender critical?

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 11/07/2018 10:41

you think he is a woman and there is a name for that

Ermentrude?

Englebert?

Bruce?

C'mon whats the name

BettyDuMonde · 11/07/2018 10:42

Buck Angel is precisely the kind of person that will benefit from a third space. In the case of prisons, that would mean Angel is entitled to be housed away from XX women and XY men, in a space appropriate for their individual needs.

Pretty certain anyone with a vagina wouldn’t want to go into the main male estate. Our UK rules wouldn’t allow for that anyway.

BettyDuMonde · 11/07/2018 10:42

RUMPELSTILTSKIN!

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 11/07/2018 10:43

Chip?

Is the name chip?

(Shoutout to any mums outere who had to help with the reading at infants school)

Kipper ?

RatRolyPoly · 11/07/2018 10:43

Obviously going on the name. Why.

Just wondered. I didn't think the name was particularly a man's name, that's all, it just happens to have the word "dad" in it. Made me wonder if I'd missed something.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 11/07/2018 10:43

Oooh well done betty

Is it rumplstilskin?

Is it

Is it

LangCleg · 11/07/2018 10:44

We don’t care nearly as much about public toilets as y’all do. Here we care mostly about prisons, refuges and crime reporting statistics.

And locked mental health wards. And same sex HCPs. And pay gaps. And lesbian autonomy. And women's sport. And affirmative action programmes. And, and, and, and ad infinitum. Strange that the menz can't see beyond the "bathrooms", isn't it? Strange that people who aren't British have no understanding of our legal frameworks yet consider themselves qualified to pass comment, isn't it?

And, y'know, that word. That consent word. It comes as a shock to patriarchs, I know. But consent. It's a thing. You might want to look it up, DadJoke.

Pratchet · 11/07/2018 10:44

I agree with jacky but would be happy to see the men's go mixed sex, while we are waiting for the resources for the fancy new stuff.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 11/07/2018 10:45

rat

He has said that he doesnt want to be 'that man'

Posts on previous threads have been about his view as a man

RatRolyPoly · 11/07/2018 10:46

He has said that he doesnt want to be 'that man
