Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

What's wrong with fighting for the third space?

DJLippy · 09/07/2018 22:22

Can't we resolve all these Trans vs feminist issues with a third space option?

Male/Female as well as unisex intimate spaces
Unisex for those who do not mind (or don't want to wait ages for the bog!) But M/F spaces respect those who have religious reasons for intimate spaces away from the opposite sex and also people who need these spaces because of trauma.

Prison's for transgender folk who feel threatened in male spaces.
Nobody should be at risk from sexual violence

Domestic violence and rape crisis support services for transwomen.
Don't trans folk deserve specialist services? If I was a victim of assault I would want people who understood me to provide support

This is all I want and I am sure many women on this sight feel the same. Is this a valid working compromise?

I'm just as entitled to speak for 'women' as any of you are.

I dont speak for women

I speak for me

BettyDuMonde · 10/07/2018 22:37

All this talk of crumble is reminding me of the ‘Old Gregg’ episode of The Mighty Boosh.

I don’t do cooking (and thus only date/marry men who do) but I can probably rustle up an Old Gregg’s Baileys to go with the crumble:

AngryAttackKittens · 10/07/2018 22:37

Considering some of the reprobates I've encountered, I'm often surprised it's not more than two a week tbh.

Just leaving that there for anyone who wants to follow the Angelou Rule.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 10/07/2018 22:37

I do love baileys

But i only get it at Christmas...and as late as possible!!

AngryAttackKittens · 10/07/2018 22:38

Did anyone else's parents subject them to Irish coffee at Christmas? Horrible stuff, put me right off Bailey's AND coffee for a while.

Bespin · 10/07/2018 22:39

AngryAttackKittens me neither unless you count the volcano base but it was drafty and some of us are getting on so we let it out. I thought you had the sunken place or what ever you call it. you know fem fight club. lol

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 10/07/2018 22:41

angry

I tried a baileys hot chocolate last year

It was incredibly disappointing

AngryAttackKittens · 10/07/2018 22:42

I've had hot chocolate with rum in it and that was OK. Possibly I was just cold and not inclined to be particularly discerning at the time though.

PencilTroll · 10/07/2018 22:44

What's the angelou rule please?

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 10/07/2018 22:44

We had a cocktail evening in our little bar in the garden

Basically just made the kids apmake us cocktails...anyhoo

Ds2 was desperate to make ds1 and dh 'kick in the balls'

It was a luminous green

Ereshkigal · 10/07/2018 22:44

I love Baileys coffee! I have one at least once a day for about three weeks in Dec and Jan, then none the rest of the year.

AngryAttackKittens · 10/07/2018 22:45

When someone shows you who they are, believe them.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 10/07/2018 22:45

Oooh no

It was a baileys latte!

Still fucking gross i couldn't drink it

Ereshkigal · 10/07/2018 22:46

Not a baileys latte! Baileys and black coffee.

BettyDuMonde · 10/07/2018 22:47

Xmas in our house was more Dutch advocaat than Irish cream. Still pretty grim though.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 10/07/2018 22:48

No i had a baileys latte Grin

Look if you cant keep up with my meandering drivel I'll have no one to listen to me

AngryAttackKittens · 10/07/2018 22:49

What is is about Christmas that makes people feel the compulsive need to serve nauseatingly sweet booze?

Flutterby1891 · 10/07/2018 22:51

I don't think we're going to agree on this all, so I'm out. But I just don't understand this commonly held (on here) view that "men need to sort it out."

There are thousands of men with psychiatric disorders (anger issues, PTSD, schizophrenia, etc) and many thousands more with drug and alcohol problems. How can the average guy (or even men as a whole) stop two of these many thousands from committing murder? I certainly don't see it as my partner's responsibility.

Ereshkigal · 10/07/2018 22:54

Not sure Angry! I'm quite partial to a glass of sweet sherry at xmas though (and only then)

AngryAttackKittens · 10/07/2018 22:54

It must be so disappointing when your attempt to have an MRA come to Jesus moment turns into a bunch of women talking about Christmas booze.

Ereshkigal · 10/07/2018 22:55

Rufus I meant that I found the idea of a Baileys Latte troubling and it's much nicer with black coffee.

Ereshkigal · 10/07/2018 22:55

What are our thoughts on kirsch? I love a Kir Royals.

BettyDuMonde · 10/07/2018 22:56

Me and my mate once drank so much cheap sherry I couldn’t lift my head off his sofa (or lie down) for a full 12 hours. I’d like to pretend it was the folly of youth but I was about 35 at the time.

I blame the no man’s land days between Xmas and new year.

AngryAttackKittens · 10/07/2018 22:56

I love sweet things in general, just not booze! There was a point in the 2000s where martinis that tasted like melted gummy bears were a thing. I was not a fan.

Ereshkigal · 10/07/2018 22:56

Royale! Stupid autocorrect Grin
