What's wrong with fighting for the third space?

DJLippy · 09/07/2018 22:22

Can't we resolve all these Trans vs feminist issues with a third space option?

Male/Female as well as unisex intimate spaces
Unisex for those who do not mind (or don't want to wait ages for the bog!) But M/F spaces respect those who have religious reasons for intimate spaces away from the opposite sex and also people who need these spaces because of trauma.

Prison's for transgender folk who feel threatened in male spaces.
Nobody should be at risk from sexual violence

Domestic violence and rape crisis support services for transwomen.
Don't trans folk deserve specialist services? If I was a victim of assault I would want people who understood me to provide support

This is all I want and I am sure many women on this sight feel the same. Is this a valid working compromise?

Ok, hands up...I've used the wrong pronouns. However, biological sex just isn't a huge issue for me.

As a woman this probably sounds terrible but two women a week being killed is an utterly vanishing number given how many million there are in the UK. I just don't understand why people get so incredibly overwrought about what is likely to be the actions of reprobates vastly unrepresentative of the average male and likely also linked to drugs/alcohol abuse in many instances.

Seriously, many posters on here would likely be much better focusing on quitting smoking/losing weight if they were truly worried about reality, rather than fretting about a proportionately tiny statistic committed by criminals.

Yambabe · 10/07/2018 22:22

I'll just say again here shall I? Snappity's link is FAKE NEWS.

Barbara Dunkelman (not Henkelman) is not trans, she didn't "start HRT at 13 and therefore experience female puberty".

Not very fair of you to keep referencing her (and getting her bloody name wrong) Flutterby. Not really on to keep touting her as an example of a passing transwoman.

Her colleague however is trans. Spot the difference? roosterteeth.wikia.com/wiki/Kdin_Jenzen

LangCleg · 10/07/2018 22:23

I feel like I would welcome into my space somebody who genuinely wanted to live as a woman

You go ahead and do that then. Make sure they're your own personal individual spaces though. Not ours. Because we've already said no pasaran. It wasn't the beginning of a negotiation. No is a complete sentence.

Go and tell the menz to make their spaces safer. I'd recommend trying Pistonheads for starters. They need some edumacatin'.

AngryAttackKittens · 10/07/2018 22:23

Indeed, if people advocating on behalf of trans rights could find a way to do so that doesn't implicitly slur black people that would be great. At least make an effort, eh?

Well, that's your colors firmly nailed to the mast. Thank you for telling us who you are.

Slip's showing, dear.

AngryAttackKittens · 10/07/2018 22:25

If Flutterby wants to convert their spare room into a changing area for their home gym they're free to invite anyone they like into that space. When it comes to shared public spaces, nope, the rest of us get a say on those.

AngryAttackKittens · 10/07/2018 22:26

I suppose one could say that those women have indeed vanished. If one were a terrible person one might even consider that unimportant.

Yes it does sound terrible

Flutterby1891 · 10/07/2018 22:28

It's just an excuse to bash men IMO and being that I generally get on better with men than women (probably unlike most on here) I see right through it.

I spent years working for a company that contracted for the police and I've read case files for just about every violent crime you can imagine. The perpetrators generally aren't 'that bloke next door.'

Ereshkigal · 10/07/2018 22:29

And again it's amazing how little compassion for women and how much there is for poor oppressed male people.

AngryAttackKittens · 10/07/2018 22:30

That's nice, dear.

On a different note, I was thinking of making a crumble this weekend. With oats in the topping!

BettyDuMonde · 10/07/2018 22:30

Crikey.

One of my best mate’s was murdered in 1999 and their mum and dad are still dealing with their loss now, even though 4 of the 6 perpetrators have been released.

I hope I never become so callous that I can see murder statistics as percentages, rather than people.

PencilTroll · 10/07/2018 22:30

Sounds like you really don't like women much at all Flutter.

Ereshkigal · 10/07/2018 22:32

We need segregation between oats and crumble topping.

Flutterby1891 · 10/07/2018 22:32

I've got plenty of compassion for women, but the minority on this forum represent a very small percentage in terms of their views, despite trying to speak for womankind and shout down any opposition.

I'm just as entitled to speak for 'women' as any of you are.

BettyDuMonde · 10/07/2018 22:32

Actually, when it comes to the murder of women, the perpetrators are more likely to live at the same address as the victim, rather than next door.

Not sure how that contributes to the idea that two dead women a week means fuck all though.

AngryAttackKittens · 10/07/2018 22:32

I feel like we need that Maya Angelou quote so often that HQ should just make a helpful little un-smiley for it.

Bespin · 10/07/2018 22:33

AngryAttackKittens

everybody's good at cooking something I'm good at cooking crumble in fact I've got one in the oven would you like some. genius song that sticks in ya head for days.

AngryAttackKittens · 10/07/2018 22:34

I demand oat inclusion! By which I mean, in the crumble that I prepare for myself in my own home. Public crumble rules will be decided by a representative sample of the crumble eating public.

Oh im sorry, i thought i was replying to Someone who was actually here to make sensible comments and debate

Apologies

Bespin · 10/07/2018 22:34

AngryAttackKittens Also sorry for being a bit thifk but when you say HQ in your posts is that your HQ or ours?

Flutterby1891 · 10/07/2018 22:34

Considering some of the reprobates I've encountered, I'm often surprised it's not more than two a week tbh.

AngryAttackKittens · 10/07/2018 22:35

I was not aware that I had an HQ.

Ereshkigal · 10/07/2018 22:35

That sounds like a sensible and democratic system.
