It might have happy eons ago and I've only just noticed - but where is the logo with mums doing all sorts of things?
And if it's been dropped - why? Pressure?

I’ve just noticed this too!

womanformallyknownaswoman · 05/07/2018 08:07

I noticed an emphasis somewhere on parents not mums

smashyourglasses · 05/07/2018 08:09

Simply can't guess why 🤔🤔

NotTerfNorCis · 05/07/2018 08:10

On Twitter the logo is a mum with a baby. But the logo with lots of women has vanished. Shame!

Floorplan · 05/07/2018 08:10

This site is questioning it's identity. Stop prying.

JoyTheUnicorn · 05/07/2018 08:11

It doesn't centre men, so of course it had to go.
Brave new world. Men can be anything they say they are, women are still second class citizens.

LEMtheoriginal · 05/07/2018 08:11

I think there was a discussion about this before it went.

I remember when the logo was adopted. BlushAs i understand it, it was based on "Charlies angels" a 70's american police drama/comedy with rather glamourous female detectives all working for a lecherous old goat called charlie. Hardly a feminist image when you think about it. Yes women can go out there and be cops but they still need to be looked after by a man. I was never really comfortable with it as the mnet logo.

hugoagogo · 05/07/2018 08:12

stop prying Confused

TellsEveryoneRealFacts · 05/07/2018 08:12

Did you just misgender Mansnet?

gamerchick · 05/07/2018 08:12

This site is questioning it's identity. Stop prying

What does that even mean?

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 05/07/2018 08:12

Because, despite its name, not all of us are mums wielding babies and bottles?

JoyTheUnicorn · 05/07/2018 08:13

LEM, I agree, I hated the logo.
The timing of the change is interesting though.

Floorplan · 05/07/2018 08:14

Was just joking sorry Blush

shutthedoorbob · 05/07/2018 08:15

Anyone got a pic of the new one? Still looks the same on mine Confused

EduCated · 05/07/2018 08:15

The logo was pretty cheesy and dated. Also didn’t translate well for mobile responsive designs as the detail would be lost when reducing the scale of the image.

Not unusual for organisations to rebrand, and the current trend generally is for simple, text based logos.

LEMtheoriginal · 05/07/2018 08:17

This is why it was never appropriate

SweetGrapes · 05/07/2018 08:19

I don't like it. It's not a text based logo, it's just a word. They've chosen a font, that's all.

I liked the old one. It had lot's of women on it. I don't know any other logo with lots of women on it. Sad

ChattyLion · 05/07/2018 08:24

The logo had women doing loads of different tasks/jobs under the common identity of mums. Like a lot of mums IRL do. Charlie’s Angels is bollocks but that’s only one interpretation and most younger people wouldn’t even make that connection. What’s wrong with a logo presenting women doing jobs in connection with MN?

Floorplan · 05/07/2018 08:24

I used to love Charles Angels. Me and my sister used to rush home from gymnastics club to watch it. It was the same year that punks were in the news and we had monster ladybirds and standpipes in the street. In those days for me it was empowering to watch.

Ifailed · 05/07/2018 08:25

Charlie's Angels was hardly a good role-model for women in the 21st century & as Justine keeps on stating, it's a parenting site, not just for women.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 05/07/2018 08:25

I thought it was funny floorplan Grin

Me too. Sad

neveradullmoment99 · 05/07/2018 08:26

I didn't like the logo. I think they should have replaced it with something more modern though. It is interesting about the timing. Maybe they will change the website name from mumsnet.

anonymousbird · 05/07/2018 08:34

Charlies Angels style logo is still on the app.
