It gives me great sadness to write this post but we have been attacked this week, on our Facebook organising group by someone who claims to be a feminist and an ally to our cause. They chose to leak some screenshots to a Twitter troll (outing our members) and make a ridiculous allegation against us and Dr Nic in a thread on here and has slipped through our clean-up of our online group.

They are now threatening police action against high profile members of our group unless we prostrate ourselves to her bullying. @Sweary has a great response to that: the ever eloquent G F* Y! (starred to prevent deletion! ahem).

As we don't know who they are and don't know how to stop them the only option we have is to burn the group. This loses us so many allies, who have supported our actions wholeheartedly since that first day meeting wiht my local swimming pool and it breaks my heart. As we met on MN FWR I hope that most of you are still here and see this. We really didn't want to lose you - and you were as important as those of us out there getting on with the activism.

That this has happened in the run up to the consultation being launched, a time when we really should have our attentions and activities focussed elsewhere is ridiculous. This person has chosen to pursue a personal vendetta at a time when we should be pulling together and building on the success #ManFriday has had so far.

#ManFriday will keep fighting for the rights, safety, privacy and dignity of women and girls. We aren't going away but for the security of our members, we have to use alternative platforms to the Facebook group for organising our activism. Our website, Twitter feed etc. will still be up and running (come & get a t-shirt Wink)

Please keep up with the #randomactsofmanliness and keep taking up space on Fridays. Or any day come to that.

Amy, Sweary and the #ManFriday admin team x (unMumsnetty but )

What's your problem, bull? You seem to have it in for these lovely, funny, articulate women. I think they are the opposite of pompous - they have such a sense of the ridiculous. Amy's swimming hat was pure genius - and definitely the opposite of pompous to be photographed in the national press wearing that. And that mankini! Brilliant!

Get that chip off your shoulder and give them three cheers for helping the general public to see how silly, and dangerous, self-id could be.

Three cheers for MF! Hip hip ...

Bowlofbabelfish · 05/07/2018 16:23

What bile?

Some women protesting in the finest British tradition - humorous, non aggressive, civil. What’s not to love?

I genuinely see no bile. Can you point the bile out? Which specific bits of the protest are the bile?

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 05/07/2018 16:29

MF are a total delight, and have been very successful with it.

SleepPatternOfABat · 05/07/2018 16:35

I still can't see this actual 'evidence' on Twitter, just people saying it exists.

And yes it is a very witty, beautiful British protest, as the Pub Landlord might say.

LastTrainEast · 05/07/2018 19:05

MF are great. They went out and actually did something and it worked too. They should be proud.

Yes, the Sprout Twitter account has been suspended - after numerous reports were made about it.

Don't know how long for, though. I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of him.

Ereshkigal · 05/07/2018 21:24

Not a chance. He lives for this.

MisDescamisados · 06/07/2018 10:04

THe individual has been a Facebook friend of mine for seven years . No longer .
Ive seen her create discord and drama in an empty room , and - whan faced down - always retaliates with claims of elderly vulnerability , disability , and bullying .
We’ll enough . Those of you who know me on Facebook will know I’m pretty circumspect , and all I can say is I urge you to keep an eye out - on Facebook and Twitter - for proof of my reasoning , not list of which is regiments of sock accounts all talking about “our victim “ to each other , ALL H .
She is not vulnerable or “disabled “ (not in the vulnerable sense of that word ) . She’s only eight years older than me , fully and inipendantly ambulant and living , and of independant means .
Seriously , this is a shit show for which NOBODY in FPWF, MF , or WPUK isn’t responsible . She’s a narcissist intent on disruption at what is - politically - a crucial point in their campaigns .

MisDescamisados · 06/07/2018 10:19

Sorry , typo . Nobody here , at WPUK , MF , or WPUK is responsible for the behaviour of she of the Polish surname .
Those of us she added to CATT (without our consent ) left as soon as we knew as we could see the stance of the group was goady and confrontational - very much reflective of it’s founder - and we did not wish to be associated with someone who deliberately sets out to offend, then claims victimhood whan called out .
Furthermore , it addressed none of our common concerns , save when they could be used as a vehicle for prejudice , hardly politic in such a febrile environment.
She may not be on mumsnet , but I’d urge anyone to keep an eye out for comments such as further up on this page , and - ask yourselves - really ? It should not so very hard to rejoin , as a sock . Even mumsnet . Although MN Towers do a sterling job . Which they do .

Excellent work Trish Budge!

Sarahconnor1 · 06/07/2018 18:01

Bugger. I've been very busy with work this week and return to see sprout suspended from Twitter.

ToeToToe · 06/07/2018 20:36

The sprout has been suspended? Good. Right little stirrer.

Italiangreyhound · 07/07/2018 02:27

Sad Angry

They will not win, these nasties. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

R0wantrees · 07/07/2018 08:00

It seemed there was a concerted effort yesterday to take over the #ManFriday hashtag.
It had been talked about earlier in the week.
There's also some curious results if you do a google search for twitter manfriday.

Bespin · 07/07/2018 08:05

serious manfriday related question did the woman who changed her driving licence ever change it back again? would be really interested to know as. this bit would prove you can just change back and forth with no issue and no proof a follow up story would be great.

LaSqrrl · 07/07/2018 08:43

The safety of women in activism is paramount. It is a despicable act all this list publishing (infiltrator traitor), or IP address publishing (interngate) - but it is all designed to silence us from speaking out about women's rights and protections. I take a very dim view on those who would endanger women's safety or livelihoods.

We will prevail.

Bespin · 07/07/2018 09:21

safety in activism is always parimount and often I have found that it is making sure the people you are fhlighting along side you are there for the same reasons as your or at least ones that do not find you in. conflict with them also that anyone who holds or starts to take views you are uncomfortable with can be challenged safely or highlighted to others I think this is starting to become a issue in this debate.

Are you aware of how women involved with environmental activism were abused by undercover police officers who infiltrated their lives Bespin?

www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/feb/09/undercover-police-female-activists-inquiry-farce

I am sure #ManFriday are very able to determine what they choose to discuss. Good to know your opinion though.

UpstartCrow · 07/07/2018 10:58

Women can't even be sure the men they date and marry are genuine, its no surprise enablers turn out to be just as abusive and duplicitous. They don't announce who they are.

I'm amazed at activists who aren't aware of agent provocateurs and Spycops.

Bespin · 16/07/2018 04:21

R0wantrees totally aware of that but I'm of a age when I hope that was more precedent than it is today. though I suspect that these things still. occur younger activists sometimes are not. Although they are very. much aware of the surveillance nature of the state and other orginasations in there activism

also they can get taken in by people like class war and beleive they are fighting for the same thing when they are not. I am always concerned about any established group using young activists as cannon fodder at the authorities.

I'm sure man firday are old enough to take care of themselves.
