It gives me great sadness to write this post but we have been attacked this week, on our Facebook organising group by someone who claims to be a feminist and an ally to our cause. They chose to leak some screenshots to a Twitter troll (outing our members) and make a ridiculous allegation against us and Dr Nic in a thread on here and has slipped through our clean-up of our online group.

They are now threatening police action against high profile members of our group unless we prostrate ourselves to her bullying. @Sweary has a great response to that: the ever eloquent G F* Y! (starred to prevent deletion! ahem).

As we don't know who they are and don't know how to stop them the only option we have is to burn the group. This loses us so many allies, who have supported our actions wholeheartedly since that first day meeting wiht my local swimming pool and it breaks my heart. As we met on MN FWR I hope that most of you are still here and see this. We really didn't want to lose you - and you were as important as those of us out there getting on with the activism.

That this has happened in the run up to the consultation being launched, a time when we really should have our attentions and activities focussed elsewhere is ridiculous. This person has chosen to pursue a personal vendetta at a time when we should be pulling together and building on the success #ManFriday has had so far.

#ManFriday will keep fighting for the rights, safety, privacy and dignity of women and girls. We aren't going away but for the security of our members, we have to use alternative platforms to the Facebook group for organising our activism. Our website, Twitter feed etc. will still be up and running (come & get a t-shirt Wink)

Please keep up with the #randomactsofmanliness and keep taking up space on Fridays. Or any day come to that.

Amy, Sweary and the #ManFriday admin team x (unMumsnetty but )

Aha, thanks

MillyTheKid · 30/06/2018 11:23

You seem to be suggesting women from ManFriday shouldn't be able to talk about their perfectly legitimate political campaign on the FWR board. Why is that?

How on earth does asking about some posts being deleted suggest that?

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 30/06/2018 11:27

Because you said:

Why have those posts been deleted when ManFriday have been able to put forward their version of events?

Which suggests you don't think it's fair.

MillyTheKid · 30/06/2018 11:31

That's quite a leap to make. Querying why some posts with a different point of view have been deleted is suggesting that the original discussion shouldn't take place?? I don't think so.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 30/06/2018 12:04

Sorry if I misunderstood you.

R0wantrees · 30/06/2018 12:17

What could we do by way of support?

MissMoneyPlant · 30/06/2018 12:25

Datun They've also said they have plenty of evidence for the police themselves. Should the police be in the slightest bit interested.

I quite like the idea of the police being interested, and random cops having to trawl through various threads. (No idea if that's actually how it would work!)

Convince the upholders of the law from the inside out, as it were...

placemats · 30/06/2018 12:28

The police is already overwhelmed with 'evidence from social media' as it is and to add to this to try and look through almost 100 mostly innocuous facebook profiles seems an ask too far.

You haven't RTWT, have you? This is about the FB group, not ManFriday as a whole, dinosaur.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 30/06/2018 12:35

I second Ro - would like to do something to show support.

BeyondRaggydoll · 30/06/2018 12:38

Place - 170 women

OlennasWimple · 30/06/2018 12:54

Can the thread title please be changed to reflect that it's only hte FB group which has close,d not the whole campaign?

Ereshkigal · 30/06/2018 12:57

Eh, you’re a horribly transphobic campaign scaremongering about minorities so... I won’t be missing you.

They're not going anywhere so you can carry on your pearl clutching and hyperbole.

"Soooo, I’ve been doxxed as being a member of man Friday. I’m sure that my belonging to a group that I’ve drawn lots of cartoons for will come as a massive shock to all of my followers. I do have a few thoughts about sad, bitter little vegetables though."

Sprout looks like a diseased scrotum.

ToeToToe · 30/06/2018 13:21

Sprout acts like a diseased scrotum too.

Sandy, and MF - you're Star s.

Weezol · 30/06/2018 13:47

On behalf of Brentford Triangle members (Penge Affiliate Member), I hereby protest the cultural approproriation of the now legendary Sprouts of Wrath.

Thisisouting · 30/06/2018 14:05

GrinHmm

Ereshkigal · 30/06/2018 14:05

Yes that's a pretty good description of Sprout, LastGirl.

Sweary's speech:
manfridayuk.org/2018/05/18/why-manfriday/#more-1541

"Below is the full text of the speech made by ManFriday’s Media Officer at a Women’s Place UK meeting on 17th May 2018.

My name is Hannah Clarke.

I support the rights of women and girls.

Men do not belong in female spaces.

A woman cannot have a penis.

I am not afraid to speak the truth.

I am here tonight to talk to you because of my involvement in the ManFriday movement. I’m sure that most of you will have heard of us, but for those who haven’t I’ll start with a brief overview.

I’ve called ManFriday a movement, I think a better word might be concept. We are a loosely organised group of women who are horrified by the implications of self identification and the resultant erasure of women. We are making a stand against what is happening by self identifying as men on Fridays. We show how preposterous it is to be able to self-declare as the opposite sex by doing exactly that.

This all came about when Amy Desir took it upon herself to address the ludicrous guidance Swim England produced to engage trans people in swimming. This guidance, soundly rejected by the good ladies of Mumsnet, included such gems as telling us women who object to penises in their changing rooms require education, whilst our boobs should be covered at all times for fear of causing offence. Amy started a Mumsnet thread one Friday morning in February telling us that she had arranged a meeting at her local pool to discuss her inclusion in men only swimming sessions as a self identified man in accordance with the guidance.

This thread inspired a whole lot of us – around 160 at the last count – to get behind the concept and thus ManFriday was born. We started with a Facebook page where we plan our protests and share resources and now have a website, a very active (and funny) twitter account, and a whole load of unconnected women joining in on Twitter every Friday using the hashtag ManFriday.

I joined after seeing Amy’s thread coincided with me wanting to be able to do something. I had attended the Woman’s Place meeting in London in February and was in awe of all the women there. I was too shy to put my hand up and talk – I didn’t feel like I had anything to say at all, but I think might make up for that now.... (continues)

Awesome speech by Sweary. I don't want Sweary thinking that everyone thinks MF are the bullies - I certainly do not. They've been subjected to the full-on TRA treatment. Smearing, doxxing, threats, contacting employers - and so on. Because you're raising awareness - you are the ones saying "the Emperor has no clothes" and people are listening. And looking, and noticing that the trans ideology is nothing but an ideology - no basis in reality. That's why they're doing this.

R0wantrees · 30/06/2018 16:07

Worth watching this video again & watch out for the #ManFriday van.

To make a sweeping generalisation, not sure it's great to making sweeping generalisations, the core two of manfriday seem lovely and I've only heard nice things about them. Top fellas BrewFootball

From my perspective tho it's undeniable that this self id debate attracts some eerrr characters shall we say?! It makes me uncomfortable with sticking my name in any group or camp or giving the thumbs up...

It's very eye opening the range of characters that exist.

R0wantrees · 30/06/2018 16:26

ToeToToe Did you see the video of the more recent speech that Sweary gave in Truro channelling Churchill? Worth a watch.
It starts at about 1:07
