How stressed are you about the loss of female-only spaces?

How stressed are you that the UK Govt may legalise self-declaration of sex, enabling any man to become legally female and gain access to female-only spaces such as refuges, sports, awards, jobs (e.g. performing smear tests), dormitories and lesbian groups?

We want to find out how big this issue is so we are running a poll to get a snapshot. This link takes you directly there. Please vote and share the link with friends so we can get as many participants as possible.

Thanks for response, R0wantrees. I thought I posted this but it vanished into ether...Trying again.

Someone posted to the effect that even though internet discussion is easily disrupted to marginalise/silence/erase GC perspectives, there isn't a thing they can do about women just talking to one another about children's health. At the swings. At the school gates. At book clubs. It's magic.

That's also my experience - most women (and men) I speak to have isolated concerns which evaporate when patiently unpacked. They just haven't had to give it any (critical) thought before.

I, too, have been writing to the organisations who have so enthusiastically galloped ahead of changes to the law. So far none of their replies have suggested they 'get it' yet, but at least they are now feeling the heat and being forced to reassess their strategies.

There has been such a turning point of late. Man Friday, bless them, achieved no less than to make it OK to be GC Smile

Think like most things, its a case of 'keep on keeping on' pinchpoint !

#ManFriday have been dealing with a lot of unpleasantness in the last few days but they are made of strong womanliness!

I think what terrifies me more than the prospect of losing spaces is the willingness of our society to legally and socially invisibilise females.

We are half of all people and yet I look around and people are busy pretending that females don't exist. Only ladybrains and manbrains. Attached randomly to cervixes and prostates.

And I'm incredulous.
We're right here. Totally visible, still having the babies, being the sex objects, mopping the floors, making the tea and yet there's a huge movement to pretend we don't actually exist as people. Just as feelings. And people are actually taking this seriously.

And I wonder how if you can get a society to go along with pretending that half of all people aren't allowed to be recognised and acknowledged for what they actually are, and for what you know them to be, then you can get them to do anything.

Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities.

It feels like one of those nightmares where you are screaming and no sound comes out.

We all know exactly what and who women are. The world seems to have split into those who will lie about it and those who won't. The sheer scale of this lie; the numbers of the people who will take part in the denial is what horrifies me.

It's made me realise we are only ever a hair's breadth away from being medieval in our beliefs.

BarrackerBarmer. I agree.

I also find it strange that as a society we know why women and girls need space away from male people. Yet we have to pretend that its a mystery why separate changing facilities and programs encouraging girls into stem career have been developed.
