I'm sure their supporters will convince themselves that the man deserved it. He probably committed an act of literal violence against them, or said "hello chaps".

Oh that explains the odd reporting then Allymcbeagle. Thanks for the link. I think that there are guidelines on reporting which mean that reporters can't refer to trans people's birth sex. They get around this by publishing a photo or video.

If an outlet does report them as trans I wonder how quickly the comment tone will change to "well I'm sure that nasty mad did something to deserve being stomped on"?

It's 'outing' them. Cos clearly if no one mentions it's impossible to tell.

What happens if the perpetrator escapes and the reporter and police don't actually know how the perpetrator might identify themselves? Do they assign them man/woman based on gender-based clothes or on sex-based physique?

Another thing is if there was a transperson going around murdering women, and we were told it was a woman we wouldn't protect ourselves so effectively as if we were told it was a transwoman. After all, suspects are generally described roughly "white middle-aged man, stocky build" so why isn't such an easily recognisable visual indicator not allowed".

These are not women. So much gaslighting by the media.

If these people are indeed of the xy sex class it is bloody chilling that trans is not being used. So much for a free press, and for the right to speak truth.
