Absinthe Maybe just straight up 'woman in a dress' sans emoji could be the new euphemism!

enoughisenoughtoday · 26/06/2018 14:34

Don't forget the crime statistics reporting 6 'women' as having been convicted of rape last year. Funnily enough people can only identify one named woman convicted under joint enterprise - the details of the others seem to have vanished into the ether. Discussed here:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3187255-6-women-convicted-of-rape

But remember "This never happens"

Pratchet · 26/06/2018 14:35

In plain sight.

Datun · 26/06/2018 14:37

Ugh, that's difficult to watch.

Datun · 26/06/2018 14:37

...and yes, exactly the kind of people you want in your intimate spaces.

Gileswithachainsaw · 26/06/2018 14:37

Now imagine if violence against women was comsidered a hate crime...

Statistical what would the answers be then...

Are 2 trans people killed a week then?

slashlover · 26/06/2018 14:38

I NEVER said that the attack was in any way justified.

I said that the 'maybe they were misgendered, tee hee' comments were not needed.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 26/06/2018 14:38

TBH if I was a witness and on the phone to the police, I would say ‘there’s a gang of blokes in dresses beating the holy crap out of a young man’.

AbsintheFriends · 26/06/2018 14:39

Norther - that might work... Nothing to object to there, surely?!

AngryAttackKittens · 26/06/2018 14:45

One rather weedy looking young man against 4 significantly larger male people and you think that was an attack in which the group were in danger? Really?

Norther · 26/06/2018 14:46

Grandma! What great legs you have!

All the better to stamp you to death with, my dear!

Picassospaintbrush · 26/06/2018 14:54

James O'Brien will be having the poor poppets on his show shortly to ask them what the nasty man had done to upset them.

KanyeWesticle · 26/06/2018 14:55

We have to be able to talk about it. The attackers were not female.

HowWasLastnight · 26/06/2018 14:56

James O'Brien will be having the poor poppets on his show shortly to ask them what the nasty man had done to upset them.

After a ten minute pity party from each of the attackers and reminders to the listener that trans people are the most oppressed people ever.

finnmcool · 26/06/2018 14:58

I just rang The Sun news desk to query their reporting of this incident.
I flagged up male violence being attributed to women/ women's crime statistics.
He seemed sympathetic and understanding of what I was saying.
I included Man Friday, Mermaids/ Yorkshire police force links/ the harassment of Posie Parker.
Girl Guiding/ Swim England.
Female toilets in schools and colleges being eradicated.
Oh and Topshop changing rooms policy too.

nauticant · 26/06/2018 14:58

Maybe JO'B could have a word with his daughter first to get some sensible advice on whether violent men ought to be referred to a violent men.

BesmirchingMotherhood · 26/06/2018 14:59

Interesting how few of FWR’s, uh, newer posters are contributing to this thread.

Picassospaintbrush · 26/06/2018 15:06

Meanwhile on another thread snappity is suggesting all self identifiers should be recorded as female crimes to be completely accurate.

finnmcool · 26/06/2018 15:06

@BesmirchingMotherhood If you are referring to me, I'm a longtime lurker. You can check my posting history.
I went to the Women's Place London meeting 5 minute walk from Tottenham Court Road Tube.
I am also well known with London mumsnetters as I go to all our London meet ups.
I lurk on feminist boards, because I'm not as clued up as most of you.

OrdinaryGirl · 26/06/2018 15:08

I hadn't thought about how the crime figures will be skewed by self-identification. 😳
This feels so unbelievably unjust.

BesmirchingMotherhood · 26/06/2018 15:10

No, not you Finn - I’m talking about the posters who have been very very active of late but who are strangely absent from this thread.

And I think I must have x posted with you anyway, because calling the Sun is brilliant work.

Jorah · 26/06/2018 15:19

Transwomen that are not sex workers are not more at risk from violence than woman and girls

finnmcool · 26/06/2018 15:19

@BesmirchingMotherhood Ah I see, it's understandable that you're being hyper vigilant, with what's been going on.
The Sun news desk number is: 02077824100 if anyone else wants to get them to clarify their reporting and put our side across.
