My 15 year old son jumped in to defend a younger boy who was set upon by some older thugs. He ended up curled on the ground protecting his head.
This was outside school and luckily a couple of teachers appeared. He had a boot print across his face for days. There is no reasoning with thugs in a fury.

MistOnTheWater · 27/06/2018 12:02

has anybody noticed that LBC have changed the headline from 'gang of women in dresses' to 'gang of women' ?

endof - your poor ds. (sorry don't know how to bold)

Dragoncake · 27/06/2018 12:02

I recently attended a community event led by a police officer. His advice was that the police are always glad to see film of an incident and that bystanders can film if safe to do so. He also said that people get criticised for filming helpful footage, which is a shame.

MistOnTheWater · 27/06/2018 12:05

sorry - should have written 'group' (embarrassed)

R0wantrees · 27/06/2018 12:07

There are women there, putting themselves in personal danger by placing their bodies between the perps and the victim. And if you think that they were in no danger because they were not the focus of the groups fury, take another look

I don't have time just now to link but think during the assault on Maria Machlaulan at Speakers' Corner a woman who had been supportive of the TRAs also attempted to intervene and was shoved away with force by those with whom she had been allied.

Bespin · 27/06/2018 12:58

Sorry my point had nothing to do with gender and I agree the men that were chanting fight was upsetting this is not a play ground and we are not children. I celebrate every person on. That video who did step in and make a difference and the workers that were there that did too. My point had nothing to do with gender or the people commiting the violance and I celebrate everyone who did help and want to beleive that as a society the majority would. That point came from personal experience of being that person who is payed to do that and the number of people who. Are quite happy to video not for evidance but because it will make a cool Facebook clip or might get on the telly. I guess I'm jaded about some members of society who are happy to stand back and let others do the hard parts.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 27/06/2018 13:07

bespin

My brother is a police officer

At the scene of a horrific accident....so awful I'm not going to say what it was....a group of 'men' came out of the pub and videoed the aftermath

They were being cunts

But i agree with the others that sometimes footage of a crime taking place can be very helpful for the police and for 'transparency'

MistOnTheWater

has anybody noticed that LBC have changed the headline from 'gang of women in dresses' to 'gang of women' ?

Saying women in dresses is completely unnecessary, and could quite easily be code for look closely, these are men but we can't say so.

In which case changing it to just women would be the result of transactivists noticing the subtext.

Yet again, drawing attention to the deliberate tactics of trying to whitewash the fact that male pattern behaviour doesn't change, however one identifies.

It's as though they think people are really, really stupid. (And can't read).

OvaHere · 27/06/2018 13:13

The comments seem to have gone now.

Datun · 27/06/2018 13:19

Oh dear. Perhaps LBC felt their audience's incredulity was undermining their credibility.

The comments were not complimentary.

HopeMumsnet · 27/06/2018 13:20

Hi all,
We have made some deletions on this thread and note that there seems to be some personal enmity at play as well. Just to remind everyone that all our usual guidelines re personal attacks and taking things from thread to thread do still apply.

peachescariad · 27/06/2018 13:21

Why have the comments gone? they were there this morning?

LangCleg · 27/06/2018 13:23

Showed the LBC page to DH this morning. He said, "Talk about fake news. We're not living in TrumponTwitterLand. It's even worse. We're actually living in North Korea."

I think that about sums it up!

SuitedandBooted · 27/06/2018 13:31

This thread is over in AIBU too, - the whole Self -ID right-think censorship is clearly coming as news to some people.

LighthouseSouth · 27/06/2018 13:37

Darn it, should have screenshotted the comments.

Writing to IPSO without them will have less impact. WTAF is wrong with the media?

MistOnTheWater · 27/06/2018 13:41

I only noticed the headline as I went back this morning to look at the comments.

Datun you say it much more succinctly than me, I couldn't find the words.
And the comments have gone? Typical

Datun · 27/06/2018 13:46

@HopeMumsnet

and taking things from thread to thread do still apply.

I'm not sure I know what that means?

I know you can't start a thread about a thread, especially if that thread would've been deleted due to its content.

But what does it mean taking something from thread to thread?

If someone expresses an opinion on one thread, and then the exact opposite opinion on another, that will be questioned.

So can you be a bit more explicit?

Thanks.

LighthouseSouth · 27/06/2018 13:46

The headline on LBC hasn't changed though has it? It was Metro who said "women in dresses"

poopsqueak · 27/06/2018 13:47

yep, LBC have deleted the comments.

poopsqueak · 27/06/2018 13:53

Got a reply from LBC Angry

Group of ‘women’ attack a man
MistOnTheWater · 27/06/2018 13:54

LighthouseSouth The headline yesterday (and indeed early this morning) said 'group of women in dresses' . I remember it distinctly. I don't know what time it was changed.

HopeMumsnet · 27/06/2018 13:58

Hi @Datun. Perhaps we should have expressed that more clearly, yes. If someone is directly contradicting what they have said previously, then we doubt we would have a problem with that being brought up, but following people from thread to thread just picking at their posts, explaining to the thread how this is 'typical x poster, you always do this' etc... we don't allow that. It's always going to be a judgement call rather than an exact science but we hope you get the gist. There were plenty of examples on this thread until we deleted them. Does that help?

Datun · 27/06/2018 13:59

poopsqueak

Are you telling me that every single time a police officer writes a report, they have personally asked each individual how they identify?

Double standards, yet again.

Well done for asking, though. However rubbish the response.

Pratchet · 27/06/2018 14:00

No independent and reliable source that they are in fact men? Have they lost their minds? Journalism isn't what it used to be.

Pratchet · 27/06/2018 14:01

Still, just goes to show. In identifying as women they prove what a stupid, dangerous idea is gender self-identification.
