Tried Spinster last week and I have mixed feelings. I might have been unlucky but at that time in the threads I was on it was over-run with childish TRA trolls, sealions and patronising Lib-Fem derailers. I don't see that crap on Twitter because I have been pre-emptively blocked by those idiots. On the plus side, it was great seeing some of the perma-banned Twitter-exiles whose voices I have missed.

Next time I visit I will just have to get used to using the block button to tune out the twats.

I deleted Twitter & Spinster early on Tuesday morning.

Like loads of women on here, while my children don’t define me, they are an enormous part of my life and I cannot compartmentalise myself effectively on social media and invariably I will make reference to them in my discourse.

This has led to them being targeted. When it got to the point that my 7 year old was being attacked by TRAs, that was enough. When they laid into her, a switch in my brain flipped.

What these bullies choose to ignore, is that my 5 children are aged 4-15 and are all at school. They don’t need to learn to have to deal with ghastly rumours that their mother is xyz being spread by people who identify as qualified professionals on the internet.

Knowing that you are stalked from platform to platform with people actually admitting that they are making socks for the sole purpose of monitoring you is incredibly oppressive. I cannot use social media safely. I am taking bets on who is going to be the first to screenshot this post and reproduce it on Twitter within the next 20 minutes of posting.

I no longer need social media for professional purposes & I am really glad to see organisations like the Safe School Alliance pop up to take over some of the MSM work too. This fight is too big and too important for lone individuals. Social media is only part of the way we can make change. Let your voice be heard, raise your voice but do it in a way that keeps you and yours safe.

I was already known as as ‘far right bigot’ so I had little to lose. Neither can my family be targeted professionally so instead the activists chose the most damaging way to go after us and that was a combination of targeting my children and making us feel physically unsafe.

This week I almost had a breakdown but had to pull on my big girl pants, keep calm and carry on. I went to work, did my thing and did it well.

Magdalen reminded us that there are much worse things than being called stupid names. You need a lot of inner strength and reserve to take on this most vicious of lobby groups who want nothing more than total submission and have no scruples about identifying whatever it is that is most valuable in your life and attempting to destroy it and you.

I'm so sorry Caro. The prolonged abuse you and your family have suffered has been incredibly shocking as has the (lack of) action from the police, who have been conspicuous by their failure to safeguard either you or your children.
I'm sure you are making the right decision.
Your family must always come first.

To be fair to the police they have now finally taken it all very seriously and have done a huge amount of work. I can’t say any more than that. But it’s so exhausting!

Just popping in to say that like many others I disagreed often and publicly with Lass, and am still shocked and disappointed that she was forced out. Given that she was about as far as you could conceivably get from the stereotype of the anti trans, anti men, anti femininity in general scary witch that sexists of all flavors seem to have of the women here the only remaining conclusion is that she's gone not for those reasons but simply for being intelligent, strong willed, and outspoken. Which is a sad set of characteristics to be deemed unacceptable on a feminist forum.

Targeting your kids was outrageous, Caro. Not unexpected, but outrageous nonetheless. Never known a group that so consistently lives down to my worst expectations of them.

Was Lass forced out? I didn't know the details but thought she had just decided to leave?

Lass was another victim of the malicious reporting leading to heavy handed deletions environment.

Interestingly what her experience showed us was that where one anti woman special interest group leads, others will follow. Lass was not gender critical. Given the timing, and the threads she was on at the time, a lot of us suspect that in this case the malicious and repeated reporting may have come from the pimp and punter lobby, another anti women group who obsessively monitor these boards.

That's the thing about creating a "hostile environment" with the modding policy - lots of groups are going to use it to attack women.

It’s problematic holding FWR posters to higher standards than the main boards, when AIBU for example can be used to attack FWR and posters there.

I recognise the name Lass but could someone summarise her views, if that's possible to do fairly?

It feels slightly uncomfortable to try to summarise her views when she's not here to correct any misunderstandings, so I want to stress this is my take on her, and any misprepresentations are my fault.

Lass is very strongly (and articulately) anti porn, pro Nordic model. She also doesn't have much time for radical feminism, and comes across to me as a bit of the school of thought which says "I got on all right in a man's world through hard work and effort, so see, it is possible." She also has very little time for discussions of issues like the performance of femininity (removal of body hair, make-up, dress codes - and the role social conditioning and social pressure play) where her attitude (to me at any rate) seems to be "well I like wearing skirts, and as far as I'm concerned, that's a completely free choice on my part, so all your talk of socialisation is nonsense."

I agree with her on the harms of porn and prostitution, disagree with her dismissal of the role of female socialisation and her somewhat "I'm all right, Jack" attitude. But she tends to argue in a robust but at least interesting way, and they're typically genuine disagreements (though occasionally I think she does stray into deliberate contrarianism). I actually rather like her as a poster, and I could imagine an evening, if not down the pub, perhaps in the lounge bar of a posh hotel, passing in quite a lively way.

She isn't particularly interested one way or the other on gender critical issues - which is why I don't think she's been targeted for that.

Bumping . It's interesting to see names that have gone, albeit some may simply have changed user name and some have left voluntarily. But a very different feel in June 2018.

Just for the sake of clarity I feel the need to post that none of the brave women who have had their children doxxed or otherwise targeted by TRAs have 'put their kids out there' - the TRAs have gone to great and extreme lengths stalking these women in order to find out details of their children. The police really do need to take this more seriously.

I haven't seen AnotherAdultHumanFemale for ages, I know Floral Bunting and Lass have been gone for a while.

There seems to have been a few disappearances recently but I can't keep up.

I wish we had some way of staying in touch or at least notifying others of a ban.

I don't know all the background, I was just going on what was posted on the thread.
Seen the updates since, fair enough, no, no child should be harassed, or parents led to worry for their safety for the beliefs of their parents.

Ah phew - I think messages is ok but no posting on threads I guess. I've only known for messages to be deleted and you cannot receive or send if you delete your account but I could be wrong.
