Morning!

OP posts:
OhHolyJesus · 12/09/2019 10:44

I think AnotherAdultHumanFemale has left too. I will miss both Lass and Floral.

Is R0wantrees back? I know she was taking a break.

Really sad news, time to get more active on Spinster I suppose.

TruthOnTrial · 12/09/2019 11:06

Am I misrepresenting by saying many threads seem to be utter carnage now?

Has it got worse? I notice the numbers of deleted threads on IO and W.

I am not getting replies when I recently had a post deleted that was deliberately misinterpreted, in a way that could be accused of troll-hunting. When in fact.someone made a troll-hunting accusation at me and I called it out as a lie. I got deleted! And no response to my questionning it.

Is this deliberate shutting down of women's voices on the part of MN? There would be no point in staying to witness further carnage if so.

Like others say there are other forums where womens hands are not tied whilst they are summarily abused. I am talking goading, gaslighting, troll-hunting, vexatious reporting, they all belong in the abusers toolkit, and it seems individual posts are taken out of context.

Mods need to have the inside track on the abusers toolkit, that isnt coming across, to me anyway.

Monitors jiz must be flowing

ThePurported · 12/09/2019 11:11

I miss AngryAttackKittens, Floral and R0wan but fully understand the need to have a break.
I will also miss Jessica and Lass, two posters whose contributions were always worth reading.

TruthOnTrial · 12/09/2019 11:19

Freedom of speech is gone

LangCleg · 12/09/2019 12:06

All the conversations of actual worth are now happening elsewhere - some visible, some not. There will never be another Man Friday or Let Toys Be Toys given birth on FWR.

It's a shame.

But I'll stick it out for the benefit of those newly concerned who come here to tentatively ask questions and get some information. And you know - at least it wastes the time of the monitors endlessly watching, brigading and all the rest of it, while the actual business is conducted far away.

TruthOnTrial · 12/09/2019 12:12

I think that's a very important point.

The profile has been raised significantly, as evidenced by all the changes we can see outside of here, and the very fact that here draws so much attention and seen as such a threat, also evidences the impact its having which as you say, has now rippled out to the bigger conversations away from here.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 12/09/2019 12:33

Yep

Might have to have a look at spinster

BiologyIsReal · 12/09/2019 12:44

I still don't know what the hell happened. Can anyone enlighten me?

Can't turn your back for a second on FWR before someone, apparently, offends those who shall not be offended.

Datun · 12/09/2019 12:51

BiologyIsReal

People appear to have been told they had strikes from deletions, only when they were dangerously close to being suspended. And people like Jessica and Lass are finding the unfairness wrong, so will probably leave before they are pushed.

The deletions seem to be disconnected now from the guidelines too.

Datun · 12/09/2019 12:52

By which I mean people are not being told why their posts are deleted.

BiologyIsReal · 12/09/2019 12:55

Thank you Datun.

TruthOnTrial · 12/09/2019 12:55

PBP used to have meaning.

...like lots of acronyms and words...

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 12/09/2019 12:58

By which I mean people are not being told why their posts are deleted.

Or even being told that their posts have been deleted in the first place...

GrimDamnFanjo · 12/09/2019 13:00

Here!

TruthOnTrial · 12/09/2019 13:00

Btw Rufus TheAGP name poster's posts were deleted for transgressing the TGs; Lang , and yours only for quoting the deleted post.

MN have done well to make that distinction clear.

OldCrone · 12/09/2019 13:29

By which I mean people are not being told why their posts are deleted.

Or even being told that their posts have been deleted in the first place...

Have people ever been told any of this without asking? I've had posts deleted and have only found out when I noticed they had gone from a thread I was on. I've only found out why when I've asked MNHQ to explain.

Datun · 12/09/2019 13:37

I believe in the specific guidelines about trans topics, people asked that they be told when they had a post deleted, and they were informed, that yes they would, as it could be constituting a strike.

They might not inform people over any common or garden deletion, but if it constitutes a strike, then yes.

The problem that has arisen is that people had strikes against them, without knowing.

So they were on their last chance, without being informed of the two previous chances.

2BthatUnnoticed · 12/09/2019 13:39

No, you won’t be told the reason for the deletion unless you ask. You won’t know you were deleted, unless you scroll back through the thread and notice.

So you could rack up 3 deletions (or more) whilst blissfully unaware, only to be told you’re on your Final Warning, seekingly out of the blue.

Most people are quite bewildered by their deletions, because they have consciously tried to meet guidelines.

Datun · 12/09/2019 13:43

No, you won’t be told the reason for the deletion unless you ask

That's not what they said. Has there been an update since this?

19 June 2018

Here is a compilation of the clarifications that we've posted since the new guidelines were released:

Will you let posters know if they have had a post deleted?
Yes – we'll mail posters when we delete one of their posts.

2BthatUnnoticed · 12/09/2019 13:43

X post

And yes I recommend reporting your own deleted post, and asking which part of it breached. Sometimes it’s quite a lengthy post and just one word / sentence was found to offend, but the whole post had to go.

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 12/09/2019 13:44

The moderation feels quite disrespectful to regular site users at the moment to be honest

Has the general profile of moderators changed I wonder? Are they now people who are more prone to the general lack of respect for older women and mothers?

2BthatUnnoticed · 12/09/2019 13:54

No update, no. It would appear that the practice has altered, so it might be worth HQ updating the guidelines.

I was advised that they are trying to prioritise civility, which means it’s purely based on your post and not the wider discussion.

OldCrone · 12/09/2019 13:56

I believe in the specific guidelines about trans topics, people asked that they be told when they had a post deleted, and they were informed, that yes they would, as it could be constituting a strike.

I have had posts deleted for things like misgendering, mentioning PIE in a post where I have also mentioned TRAs and suggesting that TRAs don't care about how much they harm children. I also got deleted for pointing out that people like Pips Bunce didn't go through a 'horrific process' when they put on a frock to collect their women in business award. I wasn't told about any of them - they just disappeared, and I only found out why they were deleted when I asked MNHQ.

TruthOnTrial · 12/09/2019 14:06

....which is removing context. Yes, makes sense when someone is blatantly rude by name-calling for example, but, as in my case, I called out pp for troll-hunting me, essentially saying that was a lie, made up, based on nothing (not to mention breaking TGs), and got deleted....the context is everything. I do get the impression context is ignored.

Especially where posters have been repeatedly goaded into a response that the goader can then pounce on, and report.

It must be such a childish thrill for them

Datun · 12/09/2019 14:24

But we've been told that context will absolutely be taken into account.

How come they are contradicting themselves? Did someone say there are new moderators? Is that definite?
