As I wrote earlier on today, but MNHQ saw fit to delete:-

Trans-women have been using "Ladies' loos for decades, and there has never been a single instance of a trans-woman attacking a non-trans-woman in a public toilet...
If a non-trans-man pervert/rapist really did want to go into a ladies' loo, why would he bother applying for a certificate that would make no difference to his legal right to be there, and which no-one would ask to see?

I've edited it, so I'm sure it's OK now.

Popchyk · 24/06/2018 22:40

Fuck off with the apologising, Lang.

If the fuckers don't like it they can fuck right off.

To Hawaii. Five-0.

Dunno Pratchet. I say "person presenting opposite to their birth sex" mainly but have no problem saying trans man as they are women.

So you are just as happy to use terminology that trans men will find offensive as you are to use terminology that is offensive to trans-women. I suppose there's a certain symmetry about that.

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 24/06/2018 22:44

Are the Chagos Islands in Eastasia?

spontaneousgiventime · 24/06/2018 22:46

Where is cloud cuckoo land?

LangCleg · 24/06/2018 22:47

My fucking pelvic floor is a packet of fucking Twiglets, thankyouveryfuckingmuch.

Damnthatonestakentryanother2 · 24/06/2018 22:48

Macareaux
I don't think there is any mileage in third spaces because many people who identify as a gender opposite to their natal sex want the validation that comes with using women's spaces. They are not going to stand for it.
How many more times?
The only thing that gets "validated" when I go into a changing room is whether whatever I am going buy actually fits or not.
When I go into a public loo, it's because I need to pee: it has nothing do with "validation"
And no, I am not going stand for it: it would make too much mess if I did.

spontaneousgiventime · 24/06/2018 22:49

I've got my daughter on the phone whinging about a new bed and which fucking one, you lot whinging about fucking pelvic floors and I wanna know where the fuck is cloud cuckoo land?

LangCleg · 24/06/2018 22:49

Are the Chagos Islands in Eastasia?

No. Eastasia went the way of Atlantis. If you would only fucking educate yourself you would fucking know this.

(Please don't smite me for fucking, MNHQ. I'm only fmucking about.)

ErrolTheDragon · 24/06/2018 22:58

Cloud cuckoo land is in the sky, apparently:

'Aristophanes, a Greek playwright, wrote and directed a drama The Birds, first performed in 414 BC, in which Pisthetaerus, a middle-aged Athenian persuades the world's birds to create a new city in the sky to be named Nubicuculia or Cloud Cuckoo Land[3] (Νεφελοκοκκυγία, Nephelokokkygia), thereby gaining control over all communications between men and gods.'

Ha, but it didn't^ give control over communications between women.^Grin

LangCleg · 24/06/2018 22:58

So was it Vince Clarke who made off with the Chagos Islands and Andy Bell who made off with my pelvic floor? Or the other way around?

spontaneousgiventime · 24/06/2018 22:59

Hmmm. I was thinking of the place where some people live.

LangCleg · 24/06/2018 22:59

And Errol wins the thread!

Back to the subject in hand... The government responded to the petition during my exam week so I’m thrilled that the Sunday Times has run it now. The government has committed to upholding the principle of single-sex spaces. Good. Now we need to demand that they do so. I was at an event yesterday where Emily Thornberry said, “There is absolutely no point in having a right if we can’t enforce it, because people take the mickey.” Changing the GRA to self-ID would make the right of women and girls to single-sex spaces unenforceable. Nic Williams has written an excellent explanation of why: here.

We asked in the petition for women’s voices to be heard. The government are preaching a consultation exercise. Good. Now we must ensure that women know there is a consultation, that it affects them and that they feel motivated to respond. Nic is running a fundraiser to do this: here.

Thankyou to all those people who have posted congratulations and support. Often, all I see is vitriol so it means a lot to read kind words. I’m very aware that I’m an absolute newcomer to this and that the change in public and media perception would never have started without the efforts of women who have been working on this for years and decades longer than I have. They have my utmost admiration and respect; this is a tough world to be in and they are battling through. On top of that, the #ManFriday team is incredible for their wit, enthusiasm and intelligence and I am very proud to be among them.

LangCleg · 24/06/2018 23:03

Good righting of thread, my lovely.

Thank you for everything.

YesItsADebate · 24/06/2018 23:08

Oops Blush That looked very much like I was telling y’all off! I was talking to myself (happens increasingly often these days!) died and so there was a lag between my posts. As you were. Pelvic floors, swearing, Hawaii...

thebewilderness · 24/06/2018 23:08

They never bothered to tell us what they intended to do to women's rights last time they repealed and replaced the laws that protected women with the Equality Act in 2010.
This time we need to speak up and be heard.
