Once a trans women got their GRC they had to wait a period of time (say 5 years) before they were able to have the same rights as all women? For example they would only be able to apply for a job as a women’s officer, appear on a female only panel or to compete in women’s sport after five years of lived experience as a woman?

Someone I know is meeting with her MP to discuss how to propose this legislation. She thinks it will address possible repercussions from self ID and stop it being abused. I thought it was an interesting idea I could get behind.

Since Males don’t menstruate because they lack Female reproductive organs, it isn’t possible for a Male, even one taking oestrogen, to suffer pms.

Males’ pituitary glands do not produce luteinising hormone or follicle stimulating hormone.
Oh, and No, I don’t support self id under any circumstances, I also think the lie ofnewbirthcertificates should stop too.

TransplantsArePlants · 19/06/2018 22:02

Now you are just talking rubbish

leyat · 19/06/2018 22:04

Men don't have a menstrual cycle, so men who say they do are deluded. Men taking oestrogen can get side effects, none of them entail having a period.

The men who claim this actually creep me out tbh. As a woman who has extremely awful periods that have seriously affected my life, the idea that men turn this into an object of desire and equate side effects of a medication they choose to take to with actual processes of women's reproductive systems because the desire for our bodies is so strong for them....just the whole thing is yuck....sorry but it really is.

MrsTerryPratchett · 19/06/2018 22:05

Apparently trans women even get PMS symptoms.

What does the M stand for again? It's this kind of nonsense that makes me angry. It's appropriation and colonization. It's a drug side effect and the nocebo effect.

Pratchet · 19/06/2018 22:17

By the way peak: wiki is wholly unreliable on trans stuff.

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 19/06/2018 22:18

Apparently trans women even get PMS symptoms.

No they don't.

And as for your OP, my answer is no. Not ever.

They can self-ID as feminine men and wear whatever they like. But not women.

Kettlepotblackagain · 19/06/2018 22:23

@LastGirlOnTheLeft I get the jumping the shark reference but my RL experience of trans people is still the same as it was in 2013. I always like to be challenged though and am open to being proved wrong but nobody has convinced me yet. I'm not bothered my opinions aren't popular on here.

Ereshkigal · 19/06/2018 22:35

Daim, have you ever seen the episode of Happy Days where Fonzie jumps over the shark?

If not, you should watch it. I think you could identify as him.

Grin pmsl

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 19/06/2018 22:36

Does your real life experience include biological males who think they're experiencing PMS?

Op
I'm not really clear what opinions you are espousing that you want challenged

You just posted a rather random scientifically wobbly suggestion (totally wobbly on the whole sports thing) about self ID and people didn't really see what difference it made.

What opinions are you advocating. (Please say it's not the whole 'people who don't have periods getting pjs)

BesmirchingMotherhood · 19/06/2018 23:44

No. Women budging up/being screwed over in 5 yrs is still women budging up/being screwed over.

How is ‘living as a woman’ any more humiliating for a transitioner (transitioner! That can’t be banned!) than it is for a woman?

LaSqrrl · 19/06/2018 23:55

thebewilderness is right, this is a fishing exercise to see where to place that wedge.

So a 'no' from me as well.
I am seeing frogs jumping over sharks to kick boiling cans into orbit. Smile

LightofaSilveryMoon · 20/06/2018 00:33

No from me.

Men have no place in women's single-sex spaces and nicking women's role in politics and professions etc.

thebewilderness · 20/06/2018 00:40

The thing is, OP, that women already treat men like people.
Women are not the problem and so therefore cannot provide the solution.

Also, daimbars Tue 19-Jun-18 15:20:48 said:

At the moment the process of getting a GRC is humiliating for a trans person (having to live as the opposite gender for two years)

I'm sorry, but I nearly pissed myself laughing at this sentence (so contradictory!!)

So it is humiliating for a man to have to live for two years as the opposite gender (what does that even mean?!) in order to... claim that he wants to be further humiliated by living the opposite gender??!

Does not make any sense at all.

What about all of us cunty women who had no choice about being the humiliated class?!

It's like the equivalent of poverty tourism, in some ways.

Ereshkigal · 20/06/2018 00:55

YY that's the level of logic we're dealing with.

LaSqrrl · 20/06/2018 00:58

I almost pissed myself laughing at that too.

I translated all that as "it's humiliating to have to 'live as a woman' for two years, when I want to 'live as a woman' "

yup, makes a lot of sense.

R0wantrees · 20/06/2018 01:09

Is the humiliation that they have to wait? That they are not accorded all they wish immediately?

LadyJaneGreyspen · 20/06/2018 01:17

thinks about the op...... Thinks about the 40 odd years of being a woman.,,, Thinks about her daughter already not wanting to swimming as her body is changing,,,, thinks about the mess ans pain of periods ...

Nah ,,
bites into her apple.

LightofaSilveryMoon · 20/06/2018 01:20

What is it about women's humiliation, as a class, that some people - men and women, sadly, but mostly men - find attractive and correct?

Italiangreyhound · 20/06/2018 01:24

No, I would not back self id even if there were a 5 year wait.

And the trans lobby will never go for a wait.

thebewilderness · 20/06/2018 01:30

Dozens of times I have intruded on transgender threads on tumblr to advise they get themselves to the doctors asap because the side effects can be life threatening and these are not menstrual symptoms. These kids are being lied to and conned and the price that many end up paying is terrible to contemplate.

Datun · 20/06/2018 01:50

Apparently trans women even get PMS symptoms.

Awwww. And you were doing so well!

Not really.

I just don't get why you keep at it Daim. Are you hoping to change people's minds? Lurkers?

Because every reply to your OP disagrees and says why.

Why keep repeating?
