Time to get the 'L' out!

Facebook just killed another Women's Liberation page (I did not follow it), upon the pressure placed by another page/group called 'Queer Librarian'.

The Women's Liberation Radio News page got targeted because they reported on Baltimore Pride, where a number of lesbians held WL signs. The WLRN page also reported that prior to the event, the Baltimore Transgender Alliance stated "terfs will be hung by their necks". This reporting of BTA by WLRN, incited the Queer Librarian page to gather ranks and report the WLRN page. (You will get the drift by looking at the screengrabs).

Lesbians are no longer welcome at Pride(!) and clearly, anyone that reports what is going on is targeted and banned.

The data lounge posters definitely do not try and tie themselves up in knots over PC language.

It’s really refreshing (if terribly impolite).

Apparently it’s one of the few places gay men get to critique TRA ideology without fear of over moderation...

daimbars: white people displaying racist placards at black pride wouldn't be welcome ... and ... it still wouldn't be cool to display anything some black people felt to be racist at black pride.

Also daimbars discussing a 'joke' about lynching gender critical feminists: Yes that last joke was not in particularly good taste but you are really scraping the barrel if that is your 'evidence' of trans people inciting violence on lesbians!

You're doing the work for us. Please do carry on.

PencilsInSpace · 18/06/2018 19:41

Superb twitter thread here by @PankhurstEM.

(warning - contains numerous screenshots of 'jokes' about violence against T*s).

Pride is dead.

daimbars · 18/06/2018 19:52

The TRAs and GC feminists are as bad as each other. Ideally both groups would stay away so the rest of us can enjoy a happy pride.

ResistanceIsNecessary · 18/06/2018 19:59

I have just fallen down the DL rabbit hole.

I now know more than I ever thought I would about surgically created vaginas and penises. There are posters advising that they can instantly tell the difference between natal sex organs and those which have been surgically created (with very graphic descriptions and detail which I won't share here).

The consensus of opinion there is overwhelmingly "no" to having sex with someone who does not have the expected sex organs which would typically accompany their stated sexual orientation.

One poster made a good point about wondering why it is discriminatory to say that he only intends on having sex with a penis but that it's fine for him to say that he's only interested in dark haired men.

A final point which stood out for me; the fact that "sexual orientation" is being replaced with "sexual preference". Needless to say that the majority of posters on the DL thread I was reading, felt that this was intensely homophobic and designed to erase lesbian, gay and bisexual people.

PencilsInSpace · 18/06/2018 20:00

The TRAs and GC feminists are as bad as each other.

No. This is deeply offensive bullshit.

Bowlofbabelfish · 18/06/2018 20:04

The TRAs and GC feminists are as bad as each other.

Trump used this in charlottville.

It’s not true. GC feminists are debating, talking, and using peaceful, hunourous protest (man Friday.) a lot of letters have been written. Groups have met to talk and made sure that transpeople are invited as well.
What GC feminists have NOT done: punched a sixty year old woman to the floor. Hounded women off Twitter, set up exhibitions of weapons to be used to kill the other side. Made bomb threats. Made death threats. Made rape threats. Blocked the other side from attending peaceful meetings while masked up.

One side is absolutely not as bad as the other. Find me examples of feminist violence - because I haven’t seen any, but ive seen a tsunami of abuse directed at them.

One of those statements is incitement to lynching daim - it’s a crime in the UK.

Would you repeat that in Charlottesville?

PencilsInSpace · 18/06/2018 20:07

You are doing our work for us. Please carry on.

PencilsInSpace · 18/06/2018 20:13

Have we really reached the point where people are condoning threats of lynching?

'not particularly pleasant'????

Fucking hell.

daimbars · 18/06/2018 20:15

Nope you're doing it all by yourself Pencils. Thanks for sharing that Twitter thread btw - sums up how bloody ridiculous it is to try and exclude trans people from LGBT pride.

I mean, I could understand if it was the WI or Girl Guides but Pride? If it wasn't so hateful it would be laughable.

Time to get the 'L' out!
PencilsInSpace · 18/06/2018 20:29

Here's the link again, everyone can read how 'hilariously stupid' those threats of violence against women are.

Nobody's trying to exclude trans people from Pride. Gender critical lesbians and bi women would just like to be able to attend without threats of violence and death.

Laughable, eh? How bloody ridiculous of them.

Carry on.

PencilsInSpace · 18/06/2018 20:31

I won't be responding to you again daim, here or on other threads. I have nothing left to say to you that would not be deleted (under the old rules, not the new bs rules).

daimbars · 18/06/2018 20:38

Loving your work Pencils. Everyone can see exactly what is making these trans people so upset.

I'll say it again, trans people are hacked off because people are trying to make them feel unwelcome and humiliate them at Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride.

It might be the only day of the year they get to enjoy a safe space without abuse and you want to take it away from them.

SomeDyke · 18/06/2018 20:38

"Homosexual is a sexual orientation, I don't think it should be used to describe behaviour, but then personally I'm sick of people co-opting it when they are bisexual or heterosexual."

Ditto. And actually, once I thought about it, I realized that unless you stick with lesbian relationship as a relationship involving two (or perhaps more) lesbians, then we don't have a word to express that (as opposed, say to a lesbian and a bisexual woman in a relationship). So I think I have changed my opinion............

Because if I'm being totally honest, I've never had a relationship with a bisexual woman, because I'm not. It's different, but we don't have enough words for those of us who aren't heterosexual, not enough words to describe our relationships. And current queer theory hasn't exactly helped with that.

thebewilderness · 18/06/2018 20:40

4th rule of misogyny: Women's opinions are violence against men thus male violence against women is justified.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 18/06/2018 20:42

Daimbars, when someone shows me who they are, I tend to believe them. And I see you.

There's no excuse for what you said. But the fact that you are unable to advance your arguments without issuing slurs betrays the lack of rigor to your claims.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 18/06/2018 20:45

The TRAs and GC feminists are as bad as each other.

LIES! Stop peddling bullshit to try to minimize what the thugs on the trans activist side have been getting up to.

restingbeachface · 18/06/2018 20:54

De-lurking after about a year of watching these threads progress on this board to say I can't believe any woman could find any way of defending these threats of violence against other women. It's actually quite disturbing to read your justifications daim and in response to your earlier comment to Pencils, rest assured that "everyone" who reads but perhaps doesn't comment on these threads can see exactly who you are and what you stand for.

*One group is saying:

'you are a deluded, mentally ill fetishist intent on sterilising children.'

The other is saying:

'If you come to my party I'll hang you by the neck'

Neither are particularly pleasant.*

Statement two is the only one mentioning physical violence isn't it. We all know who says that sort of thing. You can't even find statements mentioning physical violence from GC feminists can you?
But they're so so easy to find from TRAs. TRAs are desperate and have to resort to threats of violence because no one believes any of their bullshit

SciFiFan2015 · 18/06/2018 22:00

@daimbars would you be happy to stay married and remain sexually attracted to your wife if she transitioned. Including undergoing an SRS?

Or, if something happened and you split up would you be happy to get involved with a transwoman (either with or without having surgery to create a neo-vagina)?

Ereshkigal · 18/06/2018 22:09

Goodness Daim you do sound a tad defensive trying to defend the indefensible, rather than smug and goady. As pointed out you are doing a great job of undermining your beloved cause.

Oh and I guess you and Rat and others condemn the Transdykes and their artistically celebrated pastel baseball bats and hatred of gender critical lesbian women being on show at Pride then?

Ereshkigal · 18/06/2018 22:15

The forum data lounge has had a number of posts complaining about the numbers of cervix-havers on hook up apps such as Grindr.

I know gay men who claim it's now also overrun with transgender heterosexuals and "straight" men chasing them. And are seriously pissed off with it.
