Time to get the 'L' out!

Facebook just killed another Women's Liberation page (I did not follow it), upon the pressure placed by another page/group called 'Queer Librarian'.

The Women's Liberation Radio News page got targeted because they reported on Baltimore Pride, where a number of lesbians held WL signs. The WLRN page also reported that prior to the event, the Baltimore Transgender Alliance stated "terfs will be hung by their necks". This reporting of BTA by WLRN, incited the Queer Librarian page to gather ranks and report the WLRN page. (You will get the drift by looking at the screengrabs).

Lesbians are no longer welcome at Pride(!) and clearly, anyone that reports what is going on is targeted and banned.

Women are oppressed because of biology not identity, Woman is not a feeling, Change our society not your body.
Surely that could refer to the pressure on Lesbians to transition to male.
That is very relevant to Pride which should stand against the pressure Lesbians are under to adhere to other groups demands.

daimbars · 18/06/2018 16:00

Okay you are right, white people displaying racist placards at black pride wouldn't be welcome. Similarly GC feminists displaying transphobic placards at LGBT pride were also unwelcome.

For your comparison to be in any way relevant you'd have to be referring to black people displaying placards that other black people felt were racist.

@AssassinatedBeauty it still wouldn't be cool to display anything some black people felt to be racist at black pride.

AssassinatedBeauty · 18/06/2018 16:07

Where did I say it was?! I was pointing out your attempt at a comparison was wrong.

Whatzat298 · 18/06/2018 16:09

Coming from the person who says two biologically female homosexuals in a relationship with one another aren't allowed to call themselves lesbians.

It's getting harder and harder to pass the lesbian entrance exam these days, isn't it? I thought it was brutal back in the 90s when I got drilled in the interview section about whether I'd lingered too long near a nice poster of Johnny Depp when I was in sixth form, but these days it's brutal! You can't even get gold star status by avoiding cock - you have to have never kissed a man, never fancied a man and read the completed works of Julie Bindel.

daimbars · 18/06/2018 16:10

@JuzzaL repeatedly attacking my sexuality on every thread is a cheap shot and a bullying tactic. You are making yourself look ridiculous. I have asked you nicely to stop a number of times and you continue to do it. It's now becoming a personal attack which MNHQ doesn't tolerate. Please stop.

daimbars · 18/06/2018 16:12

@Whatzat298 lol I know! Gold star status means nothing anymore, if you smiled at a trans woman once in 1993 then boom you've failed the lesbian entrance exam.

SomeDyke · 18/06/2018 16:13

If you look closely at the 'Hang the TERFS screengrab, you'll also notice that the venue includes gender-neutral loos, but isn't wheelchair accessible. So, yet again, see what the priorities are................

Since lesbians are getting hassled for not wanting dick, damn right they should have the placards! If lesbians cannot voice their political and philosophical opinions as regards their own lesbianism at a Pride march, then we might as well all go home..............cos Pride will be dead!

vaginafetishist · 18/06/2018 16:15

Pride is dead.

vaginafetishist · 18/06/2018 16:16

Killed by queer theory

Baroquehavoc · 18/06/2018 16:16

Sorry RatRolyPoly I mistook your uses of 'totes' as sarcasm. Re reading your post I understand now.

It's a pitty there's no place for feminism at a pride march.

@JuzzaL you are the one who keeps mentioning men not me. I've also not referenced your sexuality once because that is personal to you and none of my business.

glenthebattleostrich · 18/06/2018 16:24

You know daimbars, I've seen you on a few threads and you really do follow a formula.

Arrive, yell transphobic, transphobic, bigot

Demand evidence of violent comments / action by trans people.

Upon evidence being provided, change tack and shout bully.

Do you have a script or just no original ideas?

The women were right. Woman is not a feeling. We are oppressed by biology and we do need to change society not bodies. These are all valid for women and lesbian's experience.

Erm, you are the one that said men can be lesbians.

Erm nope never said that. In fact on the other thread it was Prawn someone who said trans men in a relationship with each other are lesbians.

R0wantrees · 18/06/2018 16:30

recent thread:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3259650-Lesbian-gets-banned-from-LGBTQ-messaged-board-for-trying-to-talk-about-the-lesbophobia-in-trans-activism

James Kirkup article:
(extract)
Here is Kathleen Stock, an academic philosopher who has written about how hard it is to analyse and question transgender assertions even within academia:

“The presence of transpeople within the LGBT and ‘queer’ grouping is controversial. I am a lesbian. My own view, for what it is worth, is that there should be a separate political and charity-based movement for transgender people, which is not attached to those people defined by sexual preferences. The two categories are distinct. The disproportionately visible presence of transpeople and particularly vocal transwoman in the LGBT movement is misogynistically drawing attention and funding away from the problems and concerns of female lesbian and bisexuals in the group.”

Definition of lesbian

1 often capitalized : of or relating to Lesbos
2
[from the reputed homosexual band associated with Sappho of Lesbos]
: of or relating to homosexuality between females

daimbars · 18/06/2018 17:10

Thanks @CircleSquareCircleSquare yep that's me and the wife. Two biological females in a relationship with each other.

I wasn’t disputing that. I haven’t seen the comments on the other thread I’m merely responding to you seeming to disapprove of two transmen (sorry I lost track of the billion threads which decided if we are doing gaps or not) being legitimately called lesbians.
I don’t know your history, I’ve been away from posting and reading as much in the last few months, so I don’t know how you identify or any of your background. Are you able to tell me? I ask that openly and not aggressively.

I’m happy you’re in a loving relationship.
