let's accuse her of not fighting sexism even though it wasn't the issue that was causing her the most problems.
But yes it was. Sexism was the issue that was causing her the problem. She was being required to wear a uniform which she found uncomfortable simply because of her sex.
Ash had a more pressing reason (her uniform caused her to experience dysphoria) than just sexism.
Just sexism? Just? Would you be so dismissive of "just" racism, or "just" homophobia or "just" anti-semitism?
But to get on someone's case because they live and work in the US and don't make a fuss about unfair work practices when they could literally be sacked for any reason at all is just blind to the real issues in that country.
And that's where you are really missing the point. Magdalen is not on her case for not making a fuss about unfair work practices; she's on her case for presenting her individualistic selfish solution to a workplace problem that affects a whole class of people as some kind of revolutionary act. It isn't.
I don't condemn the girl for using the leverage she has as a self-declared non binary person; meh. It's one way to get better conditions for yourself. But it is not something to make a self-congratulatory video about. She's negotiated a better deal for herself, while accepting the structural unfairness for everyone else. That's fine. But it doesn't merit a video and an injunction to everyone else to go out and negotiate the best deal for themselves alone. That's right wing individualistic and yes I'm gonna say it: bourgeois individualism - writ large. That is not progressive politics and that's what Magdalen is addressing.
