This makes me feel sick.

Your lack of empathy and consideration for the feelings, comfort, boundaries and privacy of women make me feel sick too.

And yes, you don't get one law for the women's pond and another for the men's. Males need to stay the fuck out.

SuitedandBooted · 29/05/2018 13:06

So the idea is to ambush a transwomen going about her lawful business swimming in the Hampstead Ponds and harass her to try to make a political point. That makes me feel sick.

THERE'S A MIXED POND!!

WHY can't Transwomen go there
WHY do they need real women to validate them???

Because people like Ariel must have their delusions accepted?

Ereshkigal · 29/05/2018 13:07

Why can't trans identified males and their female friends used the mixed pond?

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 29/05/2018 13:07

Who gives a fuck trump? They are only women

Xenia · 29/05/2018 13:09

We need to raise this awareness. Self identification is wrong. The current English law is fine as it stands.

On the ponds they should make it equal - if the rule is changed so that anyone self declaring can swim in any of the 3 ponds then apply that equally and similarly call the police equally.

If I were in chrage of the ponds I would allow those with full gender change only under the current law in that pond, not allow self identifier in the single sex ponds.

boatyardblues · 29/05/2018 13:16

Ok so we've Ponting and Lazarus (I can't find any court records/reports that Ponting sexually assaulted anyone in prison, more he was making unwanted advances and so was segregated) but let's roll with it. So there's 2 examples. Any advance on 2?

The Ponting case is a thread in its own right. If you google Ponting, you find that “some links have been removed under the right to be forgotten legislation.” I tried really hard to find contemporaneous reports/information about Ponting’s original conviction, but it was impossible. Sent up a red flag for me...

The Man FRIDAY ding dong (search the words man and friday) on twitter is well worth following. The way in which the trans allies are flailing about contradicting themselves and not knowing what they're arguing for is eye-opening. It's shows how clever the campaign is at revealing the contradictions inherent in self-ID.

I believe the same person may feature on this comment by Lachlan Stuart (Policy Advisor; Labour) re Magdalen Berns recent attack.

Back to the DM comments.

I am still waiting for the "All Transwomen ARE women! (stamps foot)" pile-on to materialize.
After all, they are totally right, apparently, and most people support them etc. Here's a good opportunity, so what's stopping them from enlightening the DM readership?

Still waiting..........

Had a look on twitter.

F4J planning on self-id as mothers in order to get what they want in family courts. Interesting.

nauticant · 29/05/2018 13:39

TRAs are pushing for women to be silent. They're also strangely shy about pushing their ideology into public awareness. Now why would they not want the public to know more?

The aim is for the law to be changed without discussion of this entering into the public domain. That worked well in the past (see Stephen Whittle's comments).

Some interesting background here in a Guardian article:
(extract)
"Much of their campaigning remained on the quiet. The passage of the 2004 law to give trans people legal status was "remarkable," says Burns, because "the government was able to pass an entire act in parliament without anyone throwing a fit in the press"."

I wonder which way that would go...

Has that been tried in Canada yet? I presume they must have similar father-led pressure groups.

Picked up by metro metro.co.uk/2018/05/29/group-women-identify-males-day-go-mens-lido-7587361/

RebelRogue · 29/05/2018 14:06

I wonder which way that would go...

They can self ID as a puppy. Unless they have suitable accommodation, are fit parents, have been main carers etc. not a lot will change. Saying "But I'm the mother!" won't give them any extra rights or allowances.

PermissionToSpeakSir · 29/05/2018 14:07

I know the tone of the thread has moved on a bit, but I have only just had the opportunity to comment.

Brava/o Man Friday wo/men!

This activism made me glow with joy and put a bounce in my step.

Feeling immensely proud of you all!

That Metro piece is good!

An interesting selection of TRA twitter quotes. The Metro journalist has selected some especially active accounts. Also quotes from this thread!

BabyItsAWildWorld · 29/05/2018 14:16

Excellent piece of activism.

The men's outraged misunderstanding of the point just underlines that people, not just women, want single sex spaces.

It seems frustrating that they misunderstand and get angry but it actually makes the point for you.

Well done all involved.

SardineReturns · 29/05/2018 14:17

Rebel - the point is that F4J see the family courts as unfairly weighted against the father and towards the mother.

(They don't usually mention the child).

Their response to Man Friday is OH! We can identify as mothers and then the courts will have to gvie us what we want.

It's the fact that a group of men have said OHO we can use this to get what they want (irrespective of how cockeyed their world view may be).

spontaneousgiventime · 29/05/2018 14:21

Feeling rather proud this thread has been quoted. Hopefully it will bring more women here to learn what self ID will mean for them if it goes ahead.

RebelRogue · 29/05/2018 14:25

Ahh got it! Hopefully this will help more people see the truth ... that men can and are willing to use self ID as a means to an end.

nauticant · 29/05/2018 14:26

From the Metro piece:

on Twitter, trans woman Katie said that ‘self-ID is only for genuine trans people’ – and the women clearly weren’t that, from the way they arrived en masse with a fake beard and mankini.

Katie is saying here that they're in favour of gate-keeping. Ask Katie about gate-keeping in another context and no doubt they'll be firmly against it.
