Most positive thing I've seen for a very long time.

We already know that the pimp on the Amnesty Board persuaded them to take a position in favor of human trafficking, but thanks anyway.

Now here's an interesting opportunity for an experiment...

Piss off, goprawn. Nobody here is buying what you're selling, and we've heard all the talking points before.

(Since goprawn has said nothing about gender does that mean we can tell them to piss off without getting a scolding about not being welcoming, not in the spirit of, etc?)

FermatsTheorem · 23/05/2018 23:08

We've had pimps on here before doing this kind of "Gish Gallop" and scatter-gunning random links and spurious lies in order to protect their income stream. We recognise this technique when we see it.

Just sod off, will you?

Why are you bothering?

Doesn't it get boring?

I never go on to punter sites and do the opposite of what you are doing. I mean can you imagine, they'd just tell me to fuck off.

Maybe the women on here are too polite.

KataraJean · 23/05/2018 23:10

The article about Germany posted upthread is shocking.

SardineReturns · 23/05/2018 23:11

Oh lol xpost, well said :D

OldmanOfTheWeb3 · 23/05/2018 23:12

The UK's biggest ever investigation of sex trafficking failed to find a single person who had forced anybody into prostitution in spite of hundreds of raids on sex workers in a six-month campaign by government departments, specialist agencies and every police force in the country.

I don't know about the general case and I have seen sex-trafficking figures used that didn't stand up to examination when checked. But saying nobody has been forced into prostitution in this country in recent years cannot be right. The Muslim grooming gangs in Rotherham, Rochester and Telford have certainly done this and we know they have.

SardineReturns · 23/05/2018 23:14

Not that xpost the sod off ones.

Article in op says that punters don't give a second thought to the circs of the women, so, sure that goes across the board.

Essentially anything that threatens their 'right ' ( thank you amnesty) to stick their dicks in other people for cash must be shut down immediately.

FermatsTheorem · 23/05/2018 23:16

I have personally talked to prostitutes who were groomed into it while being sexually abused as young teens. (13 in one case - given what she thought was cannabis resin by a "boyfriend", but in fact turned out to be heroin, in order to get her dependent on drugs and desperate, then pimped out by the boyfriend. One of the many tragic things about her story was she felt guilty about her past, as if she was responsible for having been abused as a child.)

I have a friend who works in public health, and liaises with our local police. Trafficking in the sense of moving underage girls away from their families to the next town to work in brothels is endemic in our (fairly rural) county.

SardineReturns · 23/05/2018 23:16

Well quite.

There have been other successful prosecutions around sex trafficking in UK as well in recent years. A quick Google will show that easily.

More xpost!

Mine was in response to Rotherham, other post is pertinent.

There have also been cases involving what most people imagine when they think of sex trafficking, foreign women being tricked etc.

Are these pillocks really still claiming no sex trafficking in UK? It's all over the news every other week for God's sake.

SardineReturns · 23/05/2018 23:24

really distressing story recently, girl got kidnapped, drugged, advertised and men came. She was freed after a few days. Men who took her got arrested. There was no mention of all the men who had paid to rape her. Why not go and arrest them for fucks sake? And, really disturbing that the men turned up, found underage drugged presumably distressed girl, went through with it, didn't call police. That says it all.

SardineReturns · 23/05/2018 23:24

I mean she was found and freed, not that the men who took her let her go

SpareRibFem · 23/05/2018 23:27

Glad this is getting looked at, I'm all for decriminalisation of sex worker and criminalising the punter. That would also help stop the promotion of the use of prostitutes to solve the incel problem. I really don't think prostitutes need more angry potentially violent punters.

ErrolTheDragon · 23/05/2018 23:29

Trafficking, pimping and sexual exploitation of minors are all already crimes.

So is drug selling and fraud, but they still go on because there's money in it. That's the point in the report... inhibit the buyers and there's less incentive for unscrupulous criminals to exploit vulnerable women, children and I'd assume also trans women.

HerFemaleness · 23/05/2018 23:30

In 2009 there was a massive country-wide investigation looking for all these victims and it was a complete flop

This might explain why.

I hope the SNP follow through on this.

QuarksandLeptons · 23/05/2018 23:32

FermatsTheorem That article is harrowing and utterly dystopian. It’s basically slavery.

The end of article when the mega brothel owner responds incredulously when asked if he would let one of his daughters work in his brothel sums it up. It’s not a normal job, it’s not one that anyone would wish for. It’s for those on the bottom heap in society.

The sheer hypocrisy of those trying to obsfuscate facts in order to make a moral case for women to be bought and sold as sex objects is so clear.

If anyone has compassion or empathy they can see that it’s a rotten industry. It’s the zenith of hyper capitalism.

I'd probably be far less anti sex industry if I'd never met anyone who'd worked in it, which is probably why the pro pimp shill is telling us to go read blabbity blah rather than go talk to a prostitute.
