How is endometriosis transphobic?

SwearyG · 02/05/2018 22:48

I've just been to see a play about endometriosis - which was actually rather funny and much better than the subject matter suggests. As I was leaving someone said to me "gosh that was really transphobic". And I'm struggling to work out why, unless it was because it was about women's bodies and framing endo as a women's issue?

Is it really that simple? That talk of periods, ovaries, uteruses and hysterectomies is transphobic? I know we often take the piss about it a bit on here but to hear it said earnestly has me more than a bit Hmm

Feel a rule coming on....
6th rule of misogyny: Women who go around being female AT men by menstruating and breast feeding babies by suffering women's diseases deserve punishment.

Mossandclover · 03/05/2018 00:54

Tracy how dare you! Logic is hate thought and transphobic.

tobee · 03/05/2018 01:56

The world has gone abso fucking lutely mad. When am I going to wake up from this hideous nightmare?

I've been reading several threads on here tonight. This is my only conclusion. Sad&Angry

FloraFox · 03/05/2018 02:03

A couple of years ago a production of The Vagina Monologues was cancelled because it was transphobic because anything that associates the female body with being a woman or being female is transphobic. Hmm

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 03/05/2018 02:14

In all honesty I checked out who the OP was because I wondered about trolls who post things that are so out there so they wll test the water..

The truth is that anything female will soon be transphobic
Sorry Sweary xx

MadBadDaddy · 03/05/2018 02:58

If it's any consolation, I'm probably Transphobic too :(

Sanity:0, Madness:1

MadBadDaddy · 03/05/2018 03:37

'Social Media Weaponised', they say

Coyoacan · 03/05/2018 04:03

Endometriosis sounds misogynist to me

noeffingidea · 03/05/2018 06:42

Florafox the production was cancelled because people gave in and allowed their language to be policed. People have to stop accepting this shit and start pushing back. Women are never going to stop talking about their periods, births, menopause and assorted women's issues in real life, it's what we do Smile.

NormaStanleyFletcher · 03/05/2018 07:53

Wow.

Just wow.

Are we not allowed to talk about anything to do with the female body anymore, for fear of upsetting some unicorn riding snowflake who can’t deal with reality?

Ellenripleysalienbaby · 03/05/2018 07:54

I am intrigued as to what this person was expecting when they went to see a play about..... Endometriosis? I would have been interested to hear what improvements they would have to ensure that it wasn't transphobic?

I agree with SGB though - students will say any old shit to make themselves sound woke.

IndominusRex · 03/05/2018 08:02

Ooh Sweary what's the play?

IndominusRex · 03/05/2018 08:06

Just to check I've got the list correct...
Things we can't talk about:
Endometriosis
Birth trauma
Rape
Breast feeding

Things we can talk about:
Fish fingers

Kyanite · 03/05/2018 08:35

Yes, anything that only relates to people born as women, is now transphobic. I can't call myself a woman because I don't identify as that gender, I am just a birther who had chest fed a child that I had the audacity to think was female at birth, and I really should have waited for her to choose her own gender first but thankfully she agrees with me.

I find it really offensive that FGM is regarded as transphobic or cissexist, or whatever other new word is given to it other than the reality.

Aeroflotgirl · 03/05/2018 08:41

It's highly offensive isent it, it's tgat kind of attitude of TRAs that gets women's, oops biological womens backs up. Their attitudes and ideals, work totally against Feminism and they show huge disrespect for Biological Females. Funny how it only seems to be TransWomen doing this, and not Transmen, aka, those born Male. Misogyny, and shouting down biological women, they will never know how it is like to be a biological woman, because the are biologically Male!

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 03/05/2018 09:00

Things we can talk about:...Fish fingers

Give it a few hours

Aeroflotgirl · 03/05/2018 09:03

Take this analogy, a white person, feels black, so they put dark make up on, and tell people that they are black. They get involved with black issues and campaigning. Underneath, they are still white, and do not have a clue of the struggles and difficulties that black people have to overcome, and black history and slavery. It would be ludricous woulden't it, so why is this not seen as the same way with women which is another minority and vulnerable group. Add to that I am starting to hear, that things that are natural to most biological women e.g breastfeeding, and menstruating, are transphobic. WTAF!!! These transwomen want to get people on board, and to support them, by bullying them, mimimising their stuggles and concerns. Their behaviour is a good way to put biological women's backs up and batten down the hatches, instead of working with them, the TRA are working against them.

notacooldad · 03/05/2018 09:12

The world has gone abso fucking lutely mad. When am I going to wake up from this hideous nightmare?
You're not. Your nightmare is now your reality.
We all had better get used to it.

Thanksforthatamazingpost · 03/05/2018 09:16

Because of this play, endometriosis is, in fact, being talked about.

Aeroflotgirl · 03/05/2018 09:16

Imho, a real woman is a woman who was born with XX, a transwoman is a male who has transitioned to become a Female, they will always have an XY chromosomes in their body. That is why there should be that distinction, and why transwomen will never be real women, and transmen will never be real men, because they were not born in that sex, it is not in their biological make up. You cannot erase biology, it is fact.

ErrolTheDragon · 03/05/2018 09:23

Endometriosis sounds misogynist to me

Well, no, it's biology - but the fact that it's under diagnosed and seems not to be always treated seriously enough is.

Aeroflotgirl · 03/05/2018 09:24

Endometriosis misogynist, what, it is a legitimate medical condition.

Lancelottie · 03/05/2018 09:30

Funny how it only seems to be TransWomen doing this, and not Transmen, aka, those born Male

I disagree. I had some sympathy with Stephen Whittle when he came on here the other week, but he appears to have been very much at the forefront of 'making things harder for women' as a policy thrust.

DS also seems to get it in the neck from some very ardent trans teens (biological girls, and yes they have blue hair) for thought crimes such as believing in biology/accidentally calling a same-sex mixed-gender couple gay.

Aeroflotgirl · 03/05/2018 09:32

It is sad Lance free speech is being eroded by the TRAs, and biology viewed as transphobic, when in fact, it is the truth, just because it does not suit them.

Kyanite · 03/05/2018 10:35

But what gender are those fish fingers?! In French they are masculine - le doigt de poisson.
