How is endometriosis transphobic?

I've just been to see a play about endometriosis - which was actually rather funny and much better than the subject matter suggests. As I was leaving someone said to me "gosh that was really transphobic". And I'm struggling to work out why, unless it was because it was about women's bodies and framing endo as a women's issue?

Is it really that simple? That talk of periods, ovaries, uteruses and hysterectomies is transphobic? I know we often take the piss about it a bit on here but to hear it said earnestly has me more than a bit Hmm

If you were born with a penis you are a man. 😐There is gender dysmorphia but that is a different ball game to men wanting to be a woman.

I'm just going to carry on my life as normal and I don't give a fuck if trans fuckers don't like it.

LassWiADelicateAir "Your post is scare- mongering"

I am absolutely was not.

I was demonstrating the way that the word 'woman' is used and recognised when discussing gynaecology.

I was also demonstrating that it would be ludicrous to suggest this would change.

R0wan I understood it the way you've described, as an example of how the word 'woman' is used and a demonstration of how ridiculous it would be if we have to attach a different meaning to that word. Definitely not scare-mongering in my book. I think it's important we think about these things.

However with regards some specific aspects of legislation (aside from gynaecology), it seems the definition of 'woman' may have changed.

  • I was also name-checking some amazing gyny cancer charities (by the way) & highlighting the important work that they do!

I'd have eye rolled

Laughed in their face

And asked why

In that order

Have I missed something? Do trans women have periods now? Do they actually have ovaries, Fallopian tubes, uterus and cervix??
