I feel that starting life with a name like Pimple is unfair to a child even before their parents suggest that they start killing things.

What were their siblings called?

NotARegularPenguin · 02/05/2018 16:09

Lovely disabilist language from Zinnia Jones. Calling people cretins.

OlennasWimple · 02/05/2018 16:09

Isn't "cretin" considered a disablist offensive term? Someone on that there Twitter needs to report the post...

SF could do worse than read Judy Blume for a bit of insight into what "growing breasts" is actually like for many young girls ("I must, I must improve my bust"). There is plenty of reading material out there about what "being slutty" (or rather, considered to be slutty) actually means for many women and young girls. (Clue: it apparently means that rape is OK, because, y'know, they were a slut)

In the spirit of not having posts deleted, I'm afraid I cannot say. But I do love An Officer and a Gentleman and Pretty Woman

I should apologize and take back my summary of what I thought Shon had said about growing tits, which was based on bad memory.

Shon said girls should suck dick. Shon didn't use the words 'be slutty'. So, in all fairness, it's unreasonable to criticize Shon for using the term slutty.

peepholepringle · 02/05/2018 16:13

Oh Shon! Pull those big TIM pants up and get over yourself.

Lemonjello · 02/05/2018 16:14

Another Twitter user has decided to start highlighting the posts that they consider to be transphobic using screen shots and the # MumsnetClassics

twitter.com/hashtag/mumsnetclassics?src=hash

Jean Hatchet's heartfelt post about the abuse she received for riding in the memory of women who died at the hands of women is included.

Hmm

Fuck

This

Shit

DarthArts · 02/05/2018 16:16

SF has a lot to say about women and SF's perceptions of the "reality" of womanhood.

I don't see SF giving a shiny shit about the upset, stress, mental heath implications that women have about their "erasure" and the invasion of safe spaces for women. Nope - we are just meant to "enjoy" it.

Perhaps the correct response is to tell SF to "enjoy" threads such as these and accept that if you want to write articles and put content on social media that discuss the infringement of women's rights then you should expect to be challenged on it.

OlennasWimple · 02/05/2018 16:16

That should obviously have been Angry

(Too cross to type properly)

DarthArts

Totally spot on 👏👏👏

Yes. Enjoy.

I think “neither caked nor fingered” is my new favourite saying. I shall try and be inclusionary and apply it to more than just mackerel.

Said the something to the something else!

Shon Faye is a man

SwearyG · 02/05/2018 16:28

Whoever is doing that hashtag OlennasWimple is just making up what transphobia means, aren't they? Asking questions is transphobic? Riding for murdered women is transphobic? Saying biology doesn't change is transphobic?

It might be easier to make a list of what isn't transphobic now.

PermissionToSpeakSir · 02/05/2018 16:29

Please be sure to read as there will be 'mis-gendering' somewhere in this post. You will need to read it all to report it though.

Some people seem to think the work of feminism is done and now women and men are equal, some people even claim women have even more rights than men, but this is not true, women are still shamed, punished, violated, mistreated, devalued, brutalised, exploited, silenced and oppressed around the world all because they have female biology.

Selective abortion and infanticide wipe out females at nearly 100 times males. Girls are subjected to fgm, rape, child marriage, sexual abuse, denied education, forced to do unpaid domestic labour, they are shamed, controlled and ostracised around menstruation, forced to become pregnant, denied safe abortion, forced to have abortions, often domestic violence begins when they fall pregnant, they are killed by violent partners or by their own families in so-called 'honour crimes', they are held captive as rape slaves in war zones and exploited in disaster zones. Their low status, because of this bleeding, pregnable biology means they are treated unfairly in employment, before the law, within religious settings such as being lowly cleaners in Agnes Dei for the [.......] who go out to work in finance....

For some of these things, particularly in the West, feminists have made strides to resolve, introducing laws such as the Sex Discrimination Act in the 1970s, but unfortunately now, women's rights are under threat.

Women are being attacked for wanting to discuss how the biology they share as a group, links to the systemic oppression they experience under male dominated societies, and discuss how they might be further liberated or how their hard-won gains might be protected.

It is becoming increasingly important to discuss this, the more extreme and aggressive and obsessive the attempts to stop the discussions become.

Women as a class, sharing the same biology will meet and will discuss and will speak truthfully. We will overcome.

"Neither caked nor fingered" - well I'll take battered then Grin

Where do you even begin with that Hitler tweet?! Christ alive

I'm still unclear as to whether the erasure proposed by Shon was of womanhood as a class category - the suggestion being that the world should be ordered as: (1) men; (2) transwomen; and (3) an underclass of people-with-vaginas who are corralled into household service / refuse collection etc (perhaps carrying a bell and shouting "Unclean! Unclean!" as they go about their business), or whether Shon was thinking more on the lines of genocide of all females? Maybe Shon could enlighten us.

Would it be transphobic to describe Shon "enjoy your erasure" Faye as an internet misogynist? (I mean, I don't think it would but you never know these days.)

OlennasWimple · 02/05/2018 16:37

Terfulike - I was worried that your posts were being erased there

Indeed, SwearyG, indeed
