Describing trans people's right to be addressed by the appropriate pronoun as misogyny is transphobic

There is no human right to be obeyed with regard to what people call people.
That is sort of what misogyny is all about, yanno?

ReluctantCamper · 02/05/2018 19:11

BeUpStanding, but why?? do they taste better or what?

spontaneousgiventime · 02/05/2018 19:12

Lemonjello Perhaps Birds Eye ones are not but stores own. Or maybe it's the other way around?

ReluctantCamper · 02/05/2018 19:12

hang on, are own brand peas TRANSPHOBIC?

SophoclesTheFox · 02/05/2018 19:13

Hi, thisisTRANSPHOBIC

Welcome to the Mumsnet feminism board.

Just wanted to check: you're not just here to check that we're all using the correct pronouns, are you?

There's loads that we'd love to talk about that isn't trans related.

Would you like to help us with that?

Lemonjello · 02/05/2018 19:13

I’m sure someone will be along to put us straight shortly.

FlaviaAlbia · 02/05/2018 19:14

It'll pass. Women will aways talk, look at the Women's Place talks, they went from strength to strength despite whining mixed with intimidation.

The more they try to shut us down, the more people hear about self ID and the more unreasonable TA's look.

terryleather · 02/05/2018 19:14

Attention wimmins of MN!

Absolutely everything you think or say is now transphobic so shut it!!!!

busyboysmum · 02/05/2018 19:15

Yawns.

Just testing. Is that still transphobic today?

We will soon see....

spontaneousgiventime · 02/05/2018 19:16

Is eating green veg some kind of phobic. Will I have to switch from Savoy to red cabbage.

Hmmm....

WanderinWomb · 02/05/2018 19:16

My pronoun is : Madam.

ReluctantCamper · 02/05/2018 19:17

bless

thebewilderness · 02/05/2018 19:17

Is there a Mumsnet pronoun policy somewhere? I think I have missed it if so, does someone have a link?

One of the mods advised using names or initials instead of pronouns IIRC for people who identify as someone outside the norms of noun and pronoun language usage.

AngryAttackKittens · 02/05/2018 19:18

Green tea is transphobic (one assumes, since everything else apparently is).

terryleather · 02/05/2018 19:19

The Witch (sorry) Transphobe Finder General is sniffing out the naughty ones from the nice....

That happened to my first post.

I have no idea why it was deleted as I referred to SF as "SF".

AsAProfessionalFekko · 02/05/2018 19:22

The thing Iove about pronouns is that part of my family come from a place where there is no 'he' or 'she' so some of the non English native speakers occasionally use he or she incorrectly.

It must be very confusing if you think you've used the wrong one only to be told that no, you got it right the first time.

Lemonjello · 02/05/2018 19:23

It’s a bloody minefield. So far we have:

Yawn= TRANSPHOBIC
Bless= TRANSPHOBIC
Recognising misogyny= TRANSPHOBIC
Green tea= TRANSPHOBIC

Ziplock bags= inconclusive
Own brand peas= inconclusive

Why about 🐝?

leyat · 02/05/2018 19:25

Lol brilliant @SwearyG "Naming misogyny as misogyny is transphobic? Yes, we knew that. This whole ideology is misogyny" indeed; the transphobia troll is clearly here to remind us all that refusing to reduce women to gender stereotypes is 'transphobia'. So the word has no power, it has just become another signpost of misogyny.

AnitaLovesVictor · 02/05/2018 19:25

Under his Eye. Blessed be the Fruit.

Welcome to our erasure, women.

leyat · 02/05/2018 19:26

Lemonjello you have me in tears right now...lol :D
