Is there not an irony in not wanting terf on a grassing thread? Grin

Elendon · 02/05/2018 18:35

I always liked Huggies. Was never too sure about the Pampers.

PermissionToSpeakSir · 02/05/2018 18:38

I think a shill

TerfinUSA · 02/05/2018 18:40

I've started a thread on MNHQ's engagement with TRAs here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/site_stuff/3238536-Mumsnet-encouraging-brigading-by-Twitter-TRAs

IndominusRex · 02/05/2018 18:44

Anyone else getting social media ads from Birds Eye 😂

AngryAttackKittens · 02/05/2018 18:44

Did you look at the pedophilia thread, Terfin? I'd suggest reading Kate's comments there. It gets a lot worse than what's in this thread.

Elendon · 02/05/2018 18:45

In that link I gave Faye was happy to insinuate on Newsnight without substantiating facts that a physicist was in fact a paedophile.

This was a serious allegation to make and never explored further, which is strange given that Faye is a transgender journalist.

ReluctantCamper · 02/05/2018 18:45

Very tempted to find some examples of what that individual might consider transphobia and screen shot it to them, but no poor sod deserves to appear on their radar

what do you think

  • MIL thread. The OP WANTONLY assumes their mother in law is a woman. Cisnormative much?
  • Advice on maternity leave. This makes me feel excluded
  • Mooncups. Urk, yucky real lady stuff
TerfinUSA · 02/05/2018 18:46

Is there a Mumsnet pronoun policy somewhere? I think I have missed it if so, does someone have a link?

Not withstanding, my understanding is that 'ze' and 'zir' are the approved gender-neutral pronouns for maximum inclusivity.

Perhaps these should be used?

PermissionToSpeakSir · 02/05/2018 18:49

I would hazard a guess that Mothers' Pride is fine as long as we accept that not all mothers are women. Or something.

No that wouldn't work because the company wouldn't be hopping from foot to foot in a 'damned if you do, damned if you don't' fashion for the benefit of someone else's sociopathic power trip.

spontaneousgiventime · 02/05/2018 18:52

It'll end up parent pride in a multi colour stripy wrapper soon.

FlaviaAlbia · 02/05/2018 18:57

Nice nn @BesmirchingMotherhood Grin

My goodness but how empty is a life spent patrolling mumsnet threads...

Life is so unbearably short and this is considered worthwhile?

On the matter of pronouns, I might offer up a "they" if I deem it absolutely necessary, but I'm not going to mis-sex any woman-hating trans-identifying male.

Asserting that trans women are 'woman-hating trans-identifying males' because they want to be referred to by their reassigned sex is transphobic

PermissionToSpeakSir · 02/05/2018 19:01

"reassigned sex"

Did Erasure ever do a song called 'Shifting the Overton Window'?

For some reason I think they might have.

ErrolTheDragon · 02/05/2018 19:02

Spot the change from singular in Charley's post to plural?

Lemonjello · 02/05/2018 19:02

Birds Eye get my entire pea budget

Zip lock bags you say? I have responsibility for a not insubstantial pea budget and I have been tasked with researching new suppliers. This sounds promising. I’m excited.

leyat · 02/05/2018 19:03

I cannot believe that Mumsnet is insisting on misogyny-based pronouns. It's fine to want a pleasant space but not in the sense that women have to submit to male authority on gender and uphold the misogynistic idea that women are just a bunch of gender stereotypes so men can be women. That's not being 'nice', that's being expected to bow to our socialisation, misogyny and indeed to patriarchy - MNHQ it is not OKAY to expect this from us (!). It is not a pleasant for the women here when we are essentially having feminist speech disallowed, although I take note of someone above who said that we obvs don't have to use preferred pronouns if we don't use them at all.

However with that said, the recent targeting of Mumsnet by the 'lady brain is real' misogynist dickheads (this is just a description folks) I will most definitely be visiting Mumsnet daily now to discuss the misogyny of trans ideology and how we can best fight it as women, instead of the once per week or so I was before.

They want to control us, or at least they want the fact we won't submit made invisible. So let's get louder, let's resist even more and get that noticed even more. We aren't gonna bow to misogyny and men's rights activists. And MNHQ needs to understand that feminist resistance on their boards is gonna be challenging gender socialisation, not acquiescing to it. I hope they start showing more backbone again....

AssassinatedBeauty · 02/05/2018 19:03

Good job no one was actually asserting that then, isn't it! Reading comprehension skills these days seem to be lacking generally. 'Tis very disappointing.

leyat · 02/05/2018 19:04

There's no such thing as 'reassigned sex'. No-one can change sex, cos it's impossible.

Describing trans people's right to be addressed by the appropriate pronoun as misogyny is transphobic

SwearyG · 02/05/2018 19:07

Naming misogyny as misogyny is transphobic? Yes, we knew that. This whole ideology is misogyny in a frock.

gendercritter · 02/05/2018 19:08

Is anyone else feeling really cross about this?

The intern stealing data has changed things around here for me. I'm feeling uncomfortable here in a way I can't quite put my finger on.

Robust debate is healthy. TRA's and their stupid, naive handmaidens never come here and put their points across. It's all sly, aggressive attempts at shutting us up.

Nope. Not having it.

Lemonjello · 02/05/2018 19:08

Crying at Ze Bessie’s 😂

BeUpStanding · 02/05/2018 19:08

Birds Eye peas are noticeably superior to own brands aren't they? Why is that?! And YY to the ziplock bag. Potato waffles and fish fingers also absolute staples.

Lemonjello · 02/05/2018 19:10

Are ziplock bags TRANSPHOBIC though? I fear they might be.
