Earlier today the Trans Park Run thread was deleted in its entirety because SOME posts alleging cheating were deemed to be 'not in the spirit' of MN.

We have a thread about that running.

I have just been deleted on the Heather Peto thread for posting this:

This current trans ideology is extremely damaging to people with gender dysphoria and other conditions.

I must be honest and say I would still do everything the same today (surgery wise at least - probably would have discouraged pronouns and wouldn’t have gone into the female toilets sometimes when with female friends)

But I had years of therapy first. I fully understood the biological realities of the situation, what the grisly details would be, why was I seeking it, that it would not be a magical cure. Also that finding a partner ( a gay man in my case) would be difficult.

And after all that I was still certain that I needed to change my body that drastically before I could ever feel comfortable in it.

What is happening now is so far removed from that. Children are being told they will literally turn into the other sex. That with enough hormones, surgery, makeup, whatever, they will be the same as a biological woman/man and that absolutely everyone will see them as that. That anyone would love them.

It’s just not true, children cannot make life changing decisions like that. So many would never transition or ‘detransition’ if given the chance. They especially shouldn’t be basing that decision on a complete lie.

A piece of sloppy drafting, but it's still talking about the legal position, not the underlying biological reality. After all, legally, a corporation can acquire personhood under certain circumstances; it doesn't mean Sainsburys or the TSB or Great Western Railways literally become persons, i.e. human beings.

Note Supermatch that I did not report that comment! So, high road and all that.The threat was in the comment where you oh so subtly hinted that perhaps saying that trans women are male might be against the law? And what about the Equalities Act? And perhaps we could discuss?

Having the law legally recognise the transitioning of some men to transwomen, and having the law say they are legally women - does not mean men can actually become women. Because biology. "Adult human female."

The law and most of the medical profession disagree that trans women are "men pretending to be women".

The law might. I cannot see the medical profession grouping transwomen with women.

There is of course the earlier deleted definition of “female”; of the or denoting the sex capable of producing the larger gamete. There is another, genetic, definition; mammalian females are homogametic; they have two X chromosomes. Thirdly, there is the female phenotype; including female external and internal reproductive organs, and of course the different sex hormones.

The only medical transition that transwomen undergoes is cosmetic and hormonal, the external sexual organs are altered to resemble a female phenotype. The medical profession will not view this patient as biologically female.

The fact that there are exemptions to both the EA and the GRA means that the law acknowledges that they have not actually changed sex and are biologically male. A point I keep on reminding you of.
