MNHQ Deletion Policy

TheUterati · 30/04/2018 17:03

Earlier today the Trans Park Run thread was deleted in its entirety because SOME posts alleging cheating were deemed to be 'not in the spirit' of MN.

We have a thread about that running.

I have just been deleted on the Heather Peto thread for posting this:

"Bless..."

A post intended to be mildly dismissive.

That was deleted for breaking talk guidelines.

Give me a fucking break MNHQ.

"Bless..." gets a deletion!??!?!

TRA really have got you on a short chain, haven't they?

Do you often imagine that you know what other people mean better than they do, Poula?

I have a rule for that!
9th rule of misogyny: Men always know the "real reasons" for everything women do and say.

Not that I am calling them a man you understand. Just that it is a rule that misogynists and some others who shall go nameless practice.

Swichala · 30/04/2018 22:28

If this really does turn to shit, we can set up our own forum.

www.reddit.com/r/GenderCritical/

Is fairly busy and words like yawn is allowed

ReluctantCamper · 30/04/2018 22:28

and damn my cul-de-sac location. no canvassers for me.

Pratchet · 30/04/2018 22:29

Well I'm Spartacus I suppose. A woman is an adult female human of the sex that gestates and bears young. What happens now. Do the rozzers jump out of my phone.

Ereshkigal · 30/04/2018 22:29

had a Labour guy who actually climbed over a flower bed to get away with me calling after him 'no self id for gender' lol he just wanted to give me some leaflets but I trapped him on the doorstep bending his ear.

That's amazing Star thanks so much for the train lol. Really needed it!

ReluctantCamper · 30/04/2018 22:30

if you're allowed to yawn Swichala it might not be the place for me. I don't think I can handle that kind of behaviour.

BabyItsAWildWorld · 30/04/2018 22:30

Are MNHQ going to start moderating AIBU in this new censorious way,?

That'll be interesting.

But of course that is only women giving other women shit so no one cares.

RefuseToDenounceBiology · 30/04/2018 22:30

That Rowan Atkinson speech is superb. I wish I had a transcript!

Swichala · 30/04/2018 22:30

Bless WinkGrin

CadyHeron · 30/04/2018 22:31

People comment stuff like "if there were any transphobic comments, MN would delete them, so it can't be THAT bad".
Today has seen loads of them on the other thread and then this one as well with people saying the same things over again which is why they'll be getting deleted (again.)
Nobody's saying transwomen are biologically female. They are legally women though if they have transitioned, whether you like the fact or not. To deny their existence and insist on calling them blokes (not self ID ones who decide on the day, I mean full transwomen) kind of is transphobic.
That's what's kept being pulled.

Rufustheconstantreindeer · 30/04/2018 22:32

Oh my god

swichala

Im so scared for you

SophoclesTheFox · 30/04/2018 22:32

Cote has been posting what the dictionary definition of "woman" and "man" are for literally years.

What's wrong with them now?

Are they hate speech and propoganda now, poula?

Because, squint as I may, I still see four fingers, no matter how much you might tell me I see five. Dictionary definitions aren't hate speech!

thebewilderness · 30/04/2018 22:32

It is amazing to compare the treatment FWR gets when trolls post inflammatory comments, and constantly start trans threads so they can claim that is all we talk about, and the absolute free for all that is AIBU..

ReluctantCamper · 30/04/2018 22:32

I'm assuming mumsnet Hq / IWillReportAllTransphobicPosts / THE ACTUAL POLICE will be at my door shortly to confiscate my dictionary Pratchet.

I'm Spartacus and I like to be able to check the definitions of words.

AngryAttackKittens · 30/04/2018 22:32

Oh hey, what do you know! That's the same mod that told me that my comment was deleted for using the word "male" in the context of attempting to describe IW looming over and shouting at an elderly actress on CBB. And then there was this.

As we said, we can see you weren't trying to be deliberately inflammatory at all but we would appreciate it if you could just give every post on this topic really careful thought so as to avoid accidentally inflaming a situation or upsetting someone personally.

This is a completely unreasonable standard to impose, and it's only being imposed on gender critical women. If HQ attempted to impose it on AIBU there would be an uprising that would make Spartacus look like a kiddies tea party.

This is not what allowing the debate to happen looks like. This is what enforcing the female gender role looks like. It's sexist as hell.

Nobody's saying transwomen are biologically female.
This is a blatant lie which there is ample evidence to refute. Please do not repeat lies here. Things are tough enough discussing the truth.

TheRealMotherGoose · 30/04/2018 22:35

@CadyHeron

"Nobody's saying transwomen are biologically female. They are legally women though if they have transitioned, whether you like the fact or not. To deny their existence and insist on calling them blokes (not self ID ones who decide on the day, I mean full transwomen) kind of is transphobic."

It's that dichotomy which is concerning, though, CadyHeron. That people who are not biologically female will be lumped into the same category and statistics as those of us who are, and that because it is 'legally' the case, flagging up the issues will be perceived as transphobic.

BabyItsAWildWorld · 30/04/2018 22:36

Got a penis?
Not a women.

Go on, delete me, for stating biological facts.
Then remember your role in this authoritarian thought control when you see where it leads us.

Pratchet · 30/04/2018 22:36

Cada: no legal definition of female so you are wrong. They have the right to be treated as if they were female for the purposes of the law ie it's a legal fiction, and that's only with a GRC anyway. If there's no GRC they aren't 'legally female' they're just protected against discrimination for their 'identity'' or the way they present.

AnitaLovesVictor · 30/04/2018 22:38

Somehow I do think that the problem with a lot of young'uns (the #NoDebate student-type) these days is that the comedy just wasn't good enough when they were growing up Wink

Those of us weaned on the Young Ones, Not the Nine O'clock News, Monty Python, Blackadder - we're fairly fireproof - not melting into narcissistic tantrums because someone said the wrong word, or used the wrong pronoun.

AngryAttackKittens · 30/04/2018 22:38

Also, if no one else is going to say it then I am - holy lack of class consciousness, Batman! I know this may be a terrible shock for the naice middle class mods, but some of us non-ladies who were raised working class do not naturally speak like we had a dainty Wedgewood teacup in one pinkie-raised hand and a scone in the other. We speak bluntly and directly. Which ought to be allowed, and if it's not maybe stick up a sign on the door letting the less naice know where they're not wanted.

ReluctantCamper · 30/04/2018 22:38

Nobody's saying transwomen are biologically female

except for the poster on crispbutty's thread claiming that transwomen need gynaecological examinations.

Ta swich

@MNHQ could benefit from looking at Rowan Atkinson's speech. This bit for example:

‘While arresting a protestor for using ‘threatening or abusive’ speech may, depending on the circumstances, be a proportionate response, we do not think that language or behaviour that is merely ‘insulting’ should ever be criminalized in this way’. The clear problem with the outlawing of insult is that too many things can be interpreted as such. Criticism is easily construed as insult. Ridicule is easily construed as insult. Sarcasm, unfavourable comparison, merely stating an alternative point of view can be interpreted as insult. And because so many things can be interpreted as insult, it is hardly surprising that so many things have been, as the examples I talked about earlier show.

“Although the law under discussion has been on the statute book for over 25 years, it is indicative of a culture that has taken hold of the legislative programmes of successive governments that, with the reasonable and well-intended ambition to contain obnoxious elements in society, has created a society of an extraordinarily authoritarian and controlling nature. It is what you might call The New Intolerance, a new but intense desire to gag uncomfortable voices of dissent.
