MNHQ Deletion Policy

TheUterati · 30/04/2018 17:03

Earlier today the Trans Park Run thread was deleted in its entirety because SOME posts alleging cheating were deemed to be 'not in the spirit' of MN.

We have a thread about that running.

I have just been deleted on the Heather Peto thread for posting this:

"Bless..."

A post intended to be mildly dismissive.

That was deleted for breaking talk guidelines.

Give me a fucking break MNHQ.

"Bless..." gets a deletion!??!?!

TRA really have got you on a short chain, haven't they?

thebewilderness

I agree

I quite often look back and think 'gosh i cant remember what they said that was so bad it was deleted!!!'

Now I'm tempted to believe it was yawn

I always thought it was something beyond the pale...

IWillReportAllTransphobicPosts · 30/04/2018 21:26

I want to make something clear.

I am not here for vexatious reporting! If people discuss important issues without making transphobic comments that’s a good thing.

If you discuss things using transphobic language I will report you.

It’s really not difficult.

RefuseToDenounceBiology · 30/04/2018 21:28

It is ridiculous to try to force the entire world to become a 'safe space' for people who are too fragile to cope with the basics of biology as fact.

Rufustheconstantreindeer · 30/04/2018 21:28

refuse has it

Looks like it would be quite a catchy acronym

CoteDAzur · 30/04/2018 21:29

Oh wow.

I just got deleted for posting dictionary definitions of the words Female and Woman.

That's new.

RefuseToDenounceBiology · 30/04/2018 21:29

'transphobic language' = facts clearly stated.

AngryAttackKittens · 30/04/2018 21:30

Given the absurd range of language that some people consider transphobic what that basically means is - you will use the language that I prefer, or you will not be allowed to speak at all.

That is not a progressive position. Also, still no answer about what information mods can now see about users?

thebewilderness · 30/04/2018 21:31

I am unsure if the mods understand that these people came to hurt Mumsnet, not the women who comment here. We are collateral damage to people like Super who persists in claiming repeatedly that what we are saying is against the law.

Hateloggingin · 30/04/2018 21:31

WHat did I get deleted for?????

Rufustheconstantreindeer · 30/04/2018 21:31

Really cote

Was it a literal definition

Or did you say something like

'Yawn...here is a definition'

Cos it might be the 'yawn' bit

(Yeah, im like a dog with a bone, I'll get bored soon)

AnitaLovesVictor · 30/04/2018 21:31

I would like an answer to TheUterati's questions, MNHQ.

I would also like to ask if stating biological facts, as supported by evidence-based, widely accepted science - is going to be deleted in future?

An example - A penis is not a female organ, it is a male sex organ. I'm assuming this factual statement would be allowed to stand on a women's feminism forum?

Rufustheconstantreindeer · 30/04/2018 21:32

Oh its like one of those scary movies where people get picked off one by one

I dont like it

CoteDAzur · 30/04/2018 21:32

"If you discuss things using transphobic language I will report you."

What would non-transphobic language look like then, if even dictionary definitions are deemed "transphobic"? Confused

AnitaLovesVictor · 30/04/2018 21:33

Cote posted a dictionary definition of the word Woman.

MNHQ - wtf is going on?

OlennasWimple · 30/04/2018 21:33

I'm bored of it already Rufus

thebewilderness · 30/04/2018 21:33

I wonder if we are being harassed/modded by the rogue intern's friend?

RefuseToDenounceBiology · 30/04/2018 21:34

Penis/testicles/prostate/XY= Male
Vulva/ovaries/womb/XX = female

Is that transphobic?

Will it get deleted?

Rufustheconstantreindeer · 30/04/2018 21:35
TheUterati · 30/04/2018 21:35

@MNHQ

We tried the They go Low and We go High, and this is your response?

Well, fair warning - I shall continue to state biological facts and to quote the dictionary definitions of male and female, man and woman, boy and girl, as @Cote did.

You will have to ban me if you want my silence.

@IWillReport - have at it.

RedToothBrush · 30/04/2018 21:35

Actually it is a problem

Censorship (and reporting) relies on how you define transphobia.

What one person thinks is transphobic another might disagree with.

I also believe strongly that in processing and understanding you NEED to have tolerance in that. Policing how things are phrased does not allow people to explore issues on their own terms.

AND YES it has to be on their own terms not the terms of someone else.

This is why I never could.

I never could do things well enough or to the right standard.

It left me more resentful than over the actual concept. It was THIS not being trans that ultimately was the bigger hurdle.

I ask you to reflect on that.

When you 'defend' your child you do so in a way that feels aggressive to others. That feeds this monster of a cycle of frustration, lack of ability to communicate and utter resentment.

You become part of the problem rather than the solution you think you are imposing.

LET IT GO.

Give some leway. I know what this does and how it destroys.

AngryAttackKittens · 30/04/2018 21:36

For the record - authoritarianism is not a progressive position. Forcing other people to do what you want by threatening them is coercive and controlling and if you do it you do not in any sense have the moral high ground.

And that's just IWill. Super explicitly tied their attempt at coercive control in with an implied threat of legal action against anyone who won't obey them.

You know what, you two? You're the baddies.

RefuseToDenounceBiology · 30/04/2018 21:36

Cunt.

Can I still say cunt?

Or must I say ciscunt now?

KnittinKitten · 30/04/2018 21:36

Are we going to have to start screen shotting all our posts now in order to know what was deleted and stand any chance of following a thread?

CoteDAzur · 30/04/2018 21:36

"Really cote. Was it a literal definition"

Yes. It went something like ^Your DD may be womanly ("feminine") but is not a woman as per dictionary definitions Woman = Adult human female, where Female = Of the sex that can bear young or make eggs.

@MNHQ - I would really like to understand why that post was deleted. Are we now considered too sensitive to deal with dictionary definitions now? Confused

whatyadoing · 30/04/2018 21:36

Surprised MNHQ haven't got a splinter in their arse from sitting on the fence.
