It's going to be amazing. Please come.

A famous trans activist is coming. Film crews (yes more than one). Feminist royalty. This event is a game changer.

The police were (as I understand it) waiting for some sort of permission from on high to take further action. So while they were waiting, there was a bit of a stand off. No one was really clear what was happening.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 21/04/2018 22:32

Julie Bindel's footage is grim. The self-righteousness of these young fools!

Pratchet · 21/04/2018 22:48

It's the suffragettes all over again. Thanks amazing women of Bristol.

UpstartCrow · 21/04/2018 22:57

Having seen the footage from the stairs, Heather Brunskell Evans is a complete star for speaking so well after dealing with that.

Is it possible to get an exclusion zone around an event? If not, why not? The police usually separate two opposing groups of demonstrators.

The TRA's/sisters uncut look like the Westborough Baptist Church.

OlennasWimple · 21/04/2018 23:40

That footage is awful - and since when is it OK for a group of masked people to block access to a public, lawful event?

Wanderabout · 21/04/2018 23:44

I would like to know the legal position on this.

Presumably groups of men can't just go round blocking women from entering a public building for fun?

womanhuman · 22/04/2018 00:07

Wow.

AncientLights · 22/04/2018 00:08

This from SistersUncutBristol FB group, just in case you were wondering why they get all their boy & girl handmaidens to do their dirty work for them:

"Thank you to all of the cis allies out there, it's close to impossible for us trans women to fight back against this spreading of hatred. If we speak out online we're accused of using our "male" privilege, mansplaining or just constantly misgendered until we need to walk away for the sake of our own mental wellbeing.
If we were to protest these events in person there's a risk these people would instigate violence then twist footage to make us seem like the aggressors.
As this debate rages on around me I can honestly say I've never felt so helpless".

Oh so sad

Trousersdontmakemeaman · 22/04/2018 00:14

Fight? Fight? Fight?
Why do you always speak to us in these violent and warlike terms?

LightofaSilveryMoon · 22/04/2018 00:19

Been watching the footage this evening ( www.facebook.com/TheJamJarBristol/videos/vb.170323713162841/793672257494647 ).

Paused it just now (temporarily - going back to the Q&A after this), at the end of Posie Parker's rousing and clear-sighted speech. Excellent.

Marvellous talk, all of you speakers. Thank you. Really good to listen to you. And like the Cardiff WPUK meeting, each speaker explains different aspects of this debate.

Any accusations of transphobia can go to fuck. This is measured discussion, and rational and in good humour. The focus is on concern for the rights of women and children.

Right, getting back to listening to the rest of it!

LightofaSilveryMoon · 22/04/2018 00:27

Damn, been watching and listening to the footage this evening ( the Jam Jar Bristol, www.facebook.com/TheJamJarBristol/videos/vb.170323713162841/793672257494647 ), and during the meanwhilst, the discussion on here seems to have moved on.

I only meant to express how refreshing it is to watch the Bristol meeting and to listen to the speakers. They are inspirational.

HerFemaleness · 22/04/2018 01:00

It makes me so bloody angry. These posh young men are telling women that we don't have the right to political organisation unless it meets with their approval. Piss off you posh twats.

RaininSummer · 22/04/2018 08:39

I agree that surely the police should have made the protesters stand back as surely blocking the door of a legal meeting is harassment, intimidation and a possible incitement to violence. Not sure of the appropriate legal terms here.

Beyond11cisRetinol · 22/04/2018 08:51

Every single person that I could make out on those stairs was clearly of the Eton Wanker XY variety.
I had noticed that Heather was shaken in the streamed footage. Having seen that now, I'm impressed that she wasn't much more so

0phelia · 22/04/2018 09:20

What actually happened to disperse the posh blockers?
The footage showed an official looking lady come under the ribbon and go in, I presume she had words and then they all just went away.

Was there any actual "throwing of people down the stairs" ??

therealposieparker · 22/04/2018 10:45

No. No throwing anyone or attempting to throw anyone down the stairs.

SlightAggrandising · 22/04/2018 11:57

Poise, not hugely feminist I know but you look amazing in the corner of that video. So elegant and composed and commanding.

Slight crush going on.

cjdamoo · 22/04/2018 12:06

It would seem Esther has abandoned claims of throwing down stairs now and is focusing on attendee named Simon being a known sexual abuser and "the terfs were told and didn't care"

SirVixofVixHall · 22/04/2018 14:01

@thebewilderness re abusive family member, yes that exactly.

TERFragetteCity · 22/04/2018 14:05

I've been locked out of twitter, lol.

Mainly for retweeting stuff such as these videos.

Am i giving them a phone number to unlock it? No chance.

OrchidInTheSun · 22/04/2018 14:13

I gave them the number in an old PAYG phone of DD's that still has a SIM card in it

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 22/04/2018 14:33

You can remove your number after TERF

I have just been given access to twitter having been banned for about a month. Haven't decided whether I'm going to use it or delete the account.

TERFragetteCity · 22/04/2018 14:35

I'll have a think about it. Tossers.

TERFragetteCity · 22/04/2018 14:37

Actually it came after tweeting Kiri about the gender rainbow. Must have got their backs right up lol.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 22/04/2018 14:44

The phone number thing also kicks in if you swear a lot
