Are you a woman in your dreams?

Just thinking about what it means to feel like a woman. I am a woman in dreams involving my daughter and when I am being chased. Other dreams it is indeterminate or male. Indeterminate probably dominates these days but as a girl/teenager male dominated. Ok I have sometimes been inanimate objects also.

I am usually myself, even if I am Male ( or an inanimate object) if that makes any sense at all

ThatEscalatedQuickly - I have so many dreams about going to the loo! I’m convinced one day I’ll wake up having wet the bed, or worse Grin. It’s always a toilet with no door, or a really low door, or in the middle of a room full of people etc so I’m trying to hide myself and do it really quietly! And I’m always sitting so I guess I must be female Grin

RagingWhoreBag · 15/11/2018 21:53

Umpteen Confused Grin huh?!

Catsandbootsandbootsandcats · 15/11/2018 21:53

Giant tiddlywink! Grin

I'm mostly me in my dreams, but I have been other animals like a cat or a mouse.

I also have those toilet dreams, usually I can never find one that works or isn't in view of other people. Obviously I'm female in those because if I was a bloke I'd just piss on a tree/bush/wall! Grin

ThatEscalatedQuickly · 15/11/2018 22:01

I'd be worried that if I was a bloke I'd wake up peeing in the sink or wastepaper bin! Glad to know I'm not the only one who experiences this.

indieshuffle · 15/11/2018 22:04

If my dreams are reality based then I am me, a woman (also younger and fitter!) but definitely me. If they are weird or based in a place I don't know then they are more like watching TV or a film and I sort of go in and out of the view points so watching everyone as if on TV, then as one of the characters, then me again, then watching. Lots of nightmares as a child. Awfully vivid and repetitive cycles of the same dreams, seen through my eyes.

Always in colour.

I am very thankful to have had some amazing sex dreams as me, incredibly realistic, very loving and erotic and I just cannot help but have a real lingering affection for a few well known male actors. I am very grateful to my brain for dreaming them up!! I really need to learn lucid dreaming.

indieshuffle · 15/11/2018 22:08

A tiddlywink?! Grin

I had a nightmare where I was stuck in a basement with the Chucklebrothers and loads of giant ABC building blocks and we all had to escape from a murderous psychopath! That was incredibly vivid, and scary.

SanFranBear · 15/11/2018 22:28

I'm me in my dreams but have never really thought about me as female but I presume I am. I say this as I vividly remember one dream where I had a penis and remember thinking - hmmm, I'm me (adult human female me) but I have this enormous wang! Was great if I'm honest... I think I paraded it around a bit, showing my friends and saying wasn't it weird, I suddenly had a penis!

I have dreamt of toilets too many times to count. When I was small, I would actually wet the bed when I went to the loo in my dreams. Nowadays, they are horrible dreams as the toilets are always dirty - big piles of poo overflowing and filthy communal toilets.. Envy

13thWarriorWitch · 15/11/2018 22:29

YY to the can't find a usable loo dreams. By the time I wake up I'm usually frantic Grin

I've never really thought about whether I'm male or female in my dreams, I'm just me - so I'm a woman I guess.
I really must pay more attention.

Only thing I'm sure of is that even when I get my leg bitten off by a tiger or some such, I don't feel any pain and not much fear either.

Also agree with the "not quite there" sex dreams. Bloody annoying!

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 15/11/2018 22:31

I’m not always even human in my dreams.

NC4Now · 15/11/2018 22:34

I dream in the first person, and I’m female, so I must always be a woman in my dreams too. A woman who can fly.

I often dream I’m pregnant or in labour when I’m just starting my period. Must be some kind of womb action.

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 15/11/2018 22:35

Horribly, I’m always me (recognisably RL me -either in the past or in the present) in my unpleasant dreams. The nice ones that I can remember, I shapeshift between all kinds of creatures but the nasty ones, I’m me.

Unobtainable · 15/11/2018 22:37

Intetesting topic.

Yes, I often feel neutral or male in dreams inso much as I’m big/tall/strong/influentual, wearing male clothes (sometimes I’m a cowboy!) when in reality I’m a 5’ 6” size 10 woman.

Anything erotic though and I’m back to being a woman.

Ive often wondered if this is because TV/film/media/public life is male dominated.

VovoBickie · 15/11/2018 22:38

I'm mostly just me in my dreams but I can be other people, male or female. Really interesting question OP!

DavedeeDozyBeakyMickandTich · 15/11/2018 22:40

I am always myself, I'm generally unaware of any gendered feelings or awareness of my sex unless it's an integral part of the dream 'story' or my physical body is involved in the dream (eg naked, having sex etc) my body has always been female but not always 'mine' interestingly. For example different hair colour, body shape, features etc.

NotTerfNorCis · 15/11/2018 22:43

I've had dreams where I 'just know' I'm male. In one I was a van driver who'd lost his job and was being pursued by his violent former employer. Most dreams though, I'm me, and me = female.

BertieBotts · 15/11/2018 22:45

I'm always 100% definitely me. I'm finding the idea of being someone else or even a different version of oneself to be very strange, I can't get my head around the idea of watching a dream like an imaginary TV show either. My dreams are always first person and when I'm in them I can't distinguish them from real life. In fact I'll often state quite confidently in my dreams that I'm not dreaming "this time".

Some people stated that they dream in colour - do most people not?!

13thWarriorWitch · 15/11/2018 22:53

I'm interested to ask DH if he's ever been a woman in his dreams now.

Unicyclethief · 15/11/2018 22:55

Yes, I am always me in my dreams. But I don’t have a gender identity in my waking life, so it is not there in my dreams.

Onemorefireball · 15/11/2018 23:00

I am always me in my dreams and as in life, I am always female. Depending on what happens in my dream I am sometimes very aware of having a female body in dreams, sometimes not at all focused on my body, but aware I am me, therefore am female.

AwkwardSquad · 16/11/2018 07:18

Interesting point about those loo anxiety dreams - if I have the ones where I’m exposed on the loo, I’m always sitting not standing.

HestiaParthenos · 30/11/2018 00:37

I'm mostly me in my dreams, but sometimes my life is completely different.

And I recall a time where I think I was a man. Memory is fuzzy, but I was in a heterosexual relationship with a woman. I think. Or perhaps just had a crush on her and wanted to save her from a monster. Or prevent her from joining the villain ...

I didn't dream about any sex organs, I just at one point in my dream realized I was a middle-aged man. Which surprised me because I know I am female. And then I woke up.

And I think in one dream I was Harry Potter. Grin

HestiaParthenos · 30/11/2018 00:39

Nowadays, they are horrible dreams as the toilets are always dirty - big piles of poo overflowing and filthy communal toilets.

Heh, I get that dream too. It is always when I need to go to the toilet while I'm asleep. I think my brain rationalizes the fact that I can't pee, so the toilet has to be too gross to use.

BackWhenIWas4 · 30/11/2018 00:45

I've only ever had 1 dream where I wasn't me, but I was still female.
I'd never considered the filthy toilet dreams might be the brains way of keeping the dreamer from wetting the bed hestia, that makes a lot of sense.

Mrsjohnmurphy · 30/11/2018 00:49

I did dream once I had a penis, it was huge and a bit baggy and gross Grin At the same time I also lived in a flat that had a Mexican takeaway kitchen in it
