Are you a woman in your dreams?

Just thinking about what it means to feel like a woman. I am a woman in dreams involving my daughter and when I am being chased. Other dreams it is indeterminate or male. Indeterminate probably dominates these days but as a girl/teenager male dominated. Ok I have sometimes been inanimate objects also.

*Just to clarify in all those instances I gave an awareness that I am female, heterosexual, maintain my character and likes and dislikes etc. I am never not me and everything I see/do in dreams is experienced in that context. I also almost never have sex dreams. I would say five in my entire life that involved actual sex. An additional five or so where it was implied/skipped over. Readongvthe other lists I think that may be weird.

ReluctantCamper · 19/04/2018 18:10

I'd never really thought about this, but very occasionally I have been male in a dream. How odd. Never had a penis though. Like a PP, I used to have quite epic dreams where I was leading a resistance against a robot army or similar.

Since having DC I'm too fucking tired to dream any more. I jump from deep sleep to wide awake so I never get that half awake period where you remember your dreams.

When I have sex dreams that result in sleep-orgasms I am always myself, a woman.

I recently dreamed I was Elvis Presley being buried alive.

In other dreams I've been non sex specific dolphins and birds.

2rebecca · 19/04/2018 18:34

Usually female but sometimes male, sometimes my husband or one of my kids, sometimes a character of either sex in a book I've been reading. Sometimes an animal

BevBrook · 19/04/2018 18:37

I have had a few dreams where I am marrying a woman and suddenly realise I am a woman as well and not a man as I had thought, and wonder if she will be OK with that.

colditz · 19/04/2018 18:37

I'm often a little girl, actually

EasterRobin · 19/04/2018 18:44

I must be very unimaginative. I'm always me (so presumably female, but I don't really notice) or the dream is just like watching a scene that I'm not in.

IrenetheQuaint · 19/04/2018 19:31

I'm always me and therefore female. Envious of other posters' exciting dream identities!

MIdgebabe · 19/04/2018 19:35

I am always menin the dreams, .but in one repeating dream I am watching me ...male ..David..,hiding on the left and at the same time me ..female hiding on the left. Both at the same time behind a large yellow sofa in a hotel lobby. 3 versions of me.

I'm a woman in my dreams. My best dream was that I was a woman married to a pilot but when he was away, I would actually fly, in my own body not using an aeroplane. Only women could do this in my dream. You had a sort of feeling in the chest and then willed yourself up into the air and flew higher and lower, whatever you choose. Sometimes just above the ground but sometimes over the trees, which was scary but exhilarating. It was a secret activity, carried out by night.

I used this power to go into my neighbour's upstairs window and steal their biscuits.

Flying dreams are my favourite but I can't always have them.

UpstartCrow · 19/04/2018 20:10

I'm not aware of my gender or sex most of the time, I'm just me. I become aware of my sex only when its relevant. Or when someone else points it out to me (you cant do that, you're a woman type comments). Its the same in my dreams.
I deliberately eat cheese before bedtime to try to get really good ones Grin

grasspigeons · 19/04/2018 20:28

i think most my dreams i am me quite often the child me
some are just sensations of things where i am nothing at all

DN4GeekinDerby · 19/04/2018 22:50

I have a lot of weird dreams. I regularly change my point of view during dreams and sometimes that results in switching between sexes and sometimes the impossible person who is fully both or neither somehow. Other people in my dreams regularly change who they are or what they look like changes entirely but I somehow know they're the same person even when they're suddenly a tiger or some other weird stuff (when my eldest was a newborn, I kept having dreams of him turning into a tiger cub. I blame lack of sleep and maybe him nursing and biting while I slept or something).

The only exceptions I've noticed so far are when my parents are in my dreams, they pretty much stay the same and I stay in my point of view as typical female me in those dreams though my age might change. Those tend to be my most violent/painful dreams, they were both violent in real life but they're way more violent in my nightmares. Other people I know, even my spouse and kids, all dream shapeshifters.

I am usually a version of me in my dreams (female) but occasionally I'm a completely different person and male was even Spiderman once

SherbetSorbet · 20/04/2018 00:07

I have been both male and female in the same dream, I seem to play each character and I'm also an observer at the same time....very weird.

foxyliz26 · 20/04/2018 00:20

I am always a boyish female , like my g/f but one nightmare my mother made me wear a horrible brides dress her constant fantasy !

she was taking me to get married to some arsehole man ! and it was all arranged !! help !!! my mouth wouldn't work

thankfully I woke up and snuggled up to my G/F

EBearhug · 20/04/2018 01:42

I think they can be quite annoying. I was obviously having a really good time - and I can't actually remember any of it.

vampirethriller · 20/04/2018 06:57

I'm always me. A woman. My dreams are all in a dream version of this world, the dream me has a job, a house, memories. Same name, same body.

lydiamajora · 23/04/2018 20:23

It's really interesting how other posters have dreamt themselves as another person/animal/thing - I'm always some version of myself(usually more badass and less depressed, but still), it's just everything else that gets weird and flippy-floppy in my dreams.

Truscum · 23/04/2018 20:29

I have been a woman in my dreams.

But I have also been Idris Elba and a particularly yappy Jack Russel so I don’t read too much into it Grin

PosyFossilsShoes · 23/04/2018 21:07

I don't have a sex or body or gender in my dreams. Apart from anxiety dreams when I am recognisably female.

sapphireflower · 23/04/2018 23:28

I had a dream where I was a bounty hunter in space which was particularly weird, I was a woman. Then I was chased by men in radiation suits... Ended up being poisoned in that one. I usually dream about not being able to go to the loo because it's broken, which is usually because I need to actually wake up and have a wee rather than wet myself!!

BeUpStanding · 23/04/2018 23:30

My dreams are usually about me as me, so about a woman.
