As a republican it does make me laarf that people call a sweet old lady Your Majesty.

Idontdowindows · 17/04/2018 19:45

Human rights are not a courtesy.

It's not a human right to be referred to as the opposite sex.

RosenbergW · 17/04/2018 19:45

Noone is on 'dodgy ground' and 'potentially' causing an offence for making a factual statement or using words in the way they were designed to be and have always have been used.

This kind of attempted intimidation shows your hand.

SupermatchGame · 17/04/2018 19:48

RosenbergW Idontdowindows
I smell MRA
I smell something. Someone open a window.

You can't even engage in civil debate.

RosenbergW · 17/04/2018 19:49

I remember in unpleasant specimen describing abortion as cis privilege tbh.

"Female privilege" and "cis privilege" are one and the same thing. MRAs, Incels, non-cis activists, all have the same tactics, barely concealed.

Trousersdontmakemeaman · 17/04/2018 19:50

Well much as it's been a pleasure meeting this weeks visiting presenter of Equality 2010 for beginners, I'm off to the bluestocking.

SupermatchGame · 17/04/2018 19:51

Night.

RosenbergW · 17/04/2018 19:52

Scaramouche scaramouche will you do the fandango!

Idontdowindows · 17/04/2018 19:52

You can't even engage in civil debate.

Civil debate, would that be the debate where women who recognise that humans cannot change sex and that the law can be quite an ass are positioned as equivalent to religious bigots and morally corrupt people? That civil debate?

Trousersdontmakemeaman · 17/04/2018 19:54

We will not let you go, we will not let you go......

Idontdowindows · 17/04/2018 19:55

sorry wrong thread.

SomeDyke · 17/04/2018 19:56

Just as the Indiana pi bill (which wasn't actually about pi but a related geometrical construction en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indiana_Pi_Bill) couldn't actually change maths, so the law can't actually change biology..................Legislation doesn't remove a lie, or change actual facts, despite politicians wishing it would.

RosenbergW · 17/04/2018 19:59

I always think that once it's clear that a person demanding a civil debate has no intention of either being civil or having an actual debate, it's better just to have a little sing song. If I'm going to waste my breath I may as well enjoy it.

Popchyk · 17/04/2018 20:00

I can't believe it has been 26 years since Freddie died.

Tragedy.

When the feeling's gone and you can't go on. It's Tragedy.

Ereshkigal · 17/04/2018 20:00

"Female privilege" and "cis privilege" are one and the same thing

YY. Spend any time on Twitter at all with an interest in these issues and you will swiftly see the truth of this.

SupermatchGame · 17/04/2018 20:00

Lol RosenbergW

It's not intimidation it is restating the legal position and that which is deemed decent by civilised society. You are the one that would be breaking the law by repeating that. You would have your posts removed on most other media. You are the one that is threatening the future of Mumsnet.

The fact that this wouldn't be tolerated in the workplace is a benchmark for what is considered civil and respectful. It is behaviour that people need protecting from. It doesn't matter that this isn't a workplace it's the principle. Well actually it is a workplace for the mumsnet bosses. Hence the problem you cause them.

SupermatchGame · 17/04/2018 20:03

Civil debate, would that be the debate where women who recognise that humans cannot change sex and that the law can be quite an ass are positioned as equivalent to religious bigots and morally corrupt people? That civil debate?

So you think that transmen being legally recognised as male and transwomen being legally recognised as female, is an ass?

Good luck with that.

You're on the wrong side and history will show it.

SomeDyke · 17/04/2018 20:04

Spring is sprung (springing?), time to sing along:

Ereshkigal · 17/04/2018 20:04

You're on the wrong side and history will show it.

HOUSE!

Trousersdontmakemeaman · 17/04/2018 20:06

You win!

SupermatchGame · 17/04/2018 20:07

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth That's a beautiful picture. Thank you for posting it.

RefuseToDenounceBiology · 17/04/2018 20:08

The thing about mn is that it is a place to relax and chill. It isn't a workplace. Nobody has to join a thread to earn a living except for the mods and no one is directing anything at them.

I find it weird that you want to throw your weight around in a forum you don't like match - why not hang out somewhere that doesn't wind you up? There are even places on mn I don't venture onto because of all the mum-hating by people who don't have kids. Why not chill somewhere that is more your thing?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 17/04/2018 20:08

Human rights are not a courtesy

Human rights don't include the right to not be offended.

If I misgender a trans person they may deem it offensive, but that does not make it illegal.
In the same way that if I talk about sky faeries to a devout Christian, not illegal.

The law whilst protecting peoples' beliefs, does not compel others to also believe the same thing.

I must not discriminate against trans people, but I am not required to believe they have changed sex.
