Posting this to see if it shows up in Active threads

So I stayed there for a long time, it's busy enough there that I don't think I'd have ventured on to any other boards if it wasn't for Active threads

Didn't you have any curiosity about what might be in the other threads ?

You couldn't imagine that a thread called "Books" or "Feminism" or "Films" or "The Litter Tray" might (assuming you like books, women's issues or films or cats) have something of interest unless it is flagged in "Active"?

GoodyMog · 13/04/2018 11:46

"Didn't you have any curiosity about what might be in the other threads ? "

It was more that there was so much going on in Chat that I didn't need to look elsewhere. Plus I'd previously used lots of other forums where all the talking was in a general chat and the other boards were mostly tumbleweed, so I had no reason to assume MN would be different.

flowersonthepiano · 13/04/2018 11:48

I really don't understand what the big deal is about hot topics across the forums
Why don't you raise that with the Mumsnet team then Lass?
I'm sure they'll be interested in your insight into whether having hot topics is a good idea.
In the meantime, they have hot topics and some of us are wondering on what basis feminism has been excluded from them

Floisme · 13/04/2018 11:56

I have to say, I've never used Active either, or even noticed it was there. I just looked for topics that might interest me: Style & Beauty, Feminism, In the News, Books. Plus I looked at on AIBU out of curiosity (and wander over there if I'm feeling feisty). To be honest, I spend enough time on here already without going out looking for even more threads.

That said, I still think it's worrying if Feminism is being excluded from hot topics.

I always use active.
We’ve been rounded up into a ghetto basically - what’s the next step for them?

Prancingonthevalentine · 13/04/2018 12:15

We just talk to each other I suppose

If posters here want to engage with more women across Mumsnet on these issues then maybe instead of posting these threads in feminist chat they could be posted across several other relevant topic boards. There are relevant boards in 'being a parent', 'body and soul', 'education', 'health', and especially in 'other stuff' e.g.30 days, aibu, in the news, crime, human rights, legal matters, politics, and maybe even "the unexplained" ;)

It might feel like the conversation is diluted out a bit and also that a hundred 101 conversations need to be had in those places, but women will keep peak transing as they realise how many ways this issue is negatively impacting us and just how little evidence and logic there is behind it.

I noticed there is no 'General sports chat' topic in 'sporting events'. A board for that would be a useful place to document and discuss the male infiltration and destruction of women and girl's sports.

The last thing these dudes want is for more women to be hearing about this stuff. That's why they want the conversation shut down, or at least confined to a small hidden area (for now). This board provides a place for thorough examination of specific issues/events and for solidarity and sisterhood building. But these conversations shouldn't be only had here. Take it to the other boards as relevant issues crop up. Link the problem and make the case, call here and via pm for sup port in that if you need some.

And take it offline as might as you can! I talk about this to as many people as I can as soon as I feel safe to do so. These dudes do not have the numbers or public support. It's a small hard core of vicious narcissistic obsessives with a shit ton of time on their hands. Yeh they can whip up likes on twitter from sock puppets and people with a 6 second memory, no real understanding, and a will to repeat virtue signalling mantras - but what does this amount to in real life? Feck all. It's a fake, a sham, the illusion of influence - but these people don't practice what they preach, these aren't the voters and the people who buy the groceries and do the volunteering and the work. That's us.

Withdraw your labour and your money from anyone who supports female erasure and censorship of women's voices, including on Mumsnet! Write and tell them why. Encourage other people in your circles to do the same. Advertisers on Mumsnet would be fools to choose these trans activists and their puppets over the women here. I have no idea why Mumsnet would be bowing to pressure from people who don't use their site anyway! These organisations are making terrible business decisions here, make sure they know it!

"We’ve been rounded up into a ghetto basically"

A perfect summary Prancing

At the moment other than AIBU none of those appear in "Active" so if you need flashing lights to guide you that won't work.

Oh my - is that you suggesting another woman should not express an opinion? Surely not. As I said it seems a strange mindset when there is a list of subjects not to look at the ones you are interested in.

In the meantime, they have hot topics and some of us are wondering on what basis feminism has been excluded from them

Did it ever appear that much? Apart from Feminist Chat the sub boards (activism , support , etc) have tumbleweed blowing through them.

The Feminist board is not hidden. It is there in the list of subjects , same as all the others- you don't even have to log into a "members' only " section which many forums have.

Not at all.

What is your interest here Lass? Feminism has been removed from trending. That's what we're discussing. Since you think nobody is interested in it anyway, why would you care enough to keep posting on this thread?
