www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5584849/Transgender-woman-Laurel-Hubbard-Kiwi-weightlifter-compete-Commonwealth-Games.html#comments

Its pretty bland. It doesn't touch on any other aspects of the GRA, and there are supportive comments from a female weightlifter, ( who is probably watching her back).

There are the usual "Oh , serves the feminists right - they wanted equality!" comments on the story starting up Hmm.

I have commented on DM articles like this before, but my comments don't go up. Does anyone else want to try?

Tried, but many of my comments are never published.

Emily Campbell's reasoning as to why people should not question what her friend has chosen to do:

'Everyone has been very opinionated about it but I think everyone is kind of forgetting about her feelings and how she feels.

'She is just doing something she completely loves.

'For someone to have a comment on it I think is a bit unfair.'

SuitedandBooted · 06/04/2018 10:38

"Think of (men's) feelings!"

I would say that Emily Campbell has an eye on her Sports Federation - I presume they are clamping down on dissenters.

Feelings over physiology.

Laughing at religious people with “sky fairies” and flat earthers but then completely denying scientific evidence of physical differences between men and women. It’s very interesting.

SuitedandBooted · 06/04/2018 10:45

I don't expect them to print many things criticising the GRA. The Daily Mail clearly has some "Dude bros" (and their handmaidens) working in their moderators section.
I am leaving some less political comments, more along the lines of how is this fair, sport should be an even playing field etc. I hope this will help readers join the dots!

Utter madness. Why can't people see this?

Glowerglass · 06/04/2018 10:59

It is just so unfair. HOW can people not see that!

Melamin · 06/04/2018 11:07

They just seem to be sticking to 2 comments:

  1. That's what feminists want.
  1. They are testing for drugs on the one hand and allowing this on the other hand.
MrPan · 06/04/2018 11:13

CircleSquareCircleSquare - excellent perspective-comparing there. Thank you.

SuitedandBooted · 06/04/2018 11:16

Just a thought..

I don't think all the online papers moderate every story and every comment.
So, how about going to some other papers, find a sports story, (women's sport most relevant, but could be others) and leave a comment like;

"The end of competitive sport for women, this is only the beginning" and a link to a Twitter page like this
twitter.com/search?q=transgender%20weightlifter&src=typd&lang=en

Do other papers allow twitter links, or something else?

Leaving aside comments, or lack thereof, the headline and the fact that an expert has pointed out the obvious problems of transwomen competing against women is good.

Melamin · 06/04/2018 11:32

Yes - I expect they were flooded with TRAs as a result.

Fairenuff · 06/04/2018 11:43

"I don't believe there is any fundamental difference between me and the other athletes, and to suggest there is, is slightly demeaning to them."

Yeah, it's demeaning to have a smaller heart and lungs.

Step · 06/04/2018 12:14

WTF is the point in trying to compete against someone with what is fundamentally a male physiology even if the muscle mass has been tempered with hormones. They are built for running, and strength.... There is simply no point in competitive female sport if this is allowed to happen it's so bloody crazy!

No problem with transwomen after they've had their bits lobbed off using my changing room etc but don't try entering sports competitions, talk to us about women's issues like you've got the T shirt, or try and foist a further weakening of women's right down our throats.

BlackeyedSusan · 06/04/2018 12:35

well, I would take the brand on her t shirt as an instruction .... Wink

hackmum · 06/04/2018 12:41

I wrote a comment, which hasn't appeared.

I notice the story is from Mail Australia, and I wonder if therefore it is moderated by the Australian team, and that as it's the middle of the night there, perhaps they're not working? Don't know. It seems to happen a lot with the Mail - you spend ages writing a comment and it doesn't appear. Probably their moderation teams are overstretched.

DNAnotGRA · 06/04/2018 12:43

Hopefully these sort of stories will help open hearts and minds to the insanity of the agenda

Ereshkigal · 06/04/2018 12:44

Really good idea, Suited and Booted.

Juells · 06/04/2018 12:47

The article itself is quite fair, though, apart from the moderating of the comments.

Juells · 06/04/2018 12:48

I don't understand how anyone would have the brass balls to do this though... Are they not the slightest bit ashamed? Their competitivness must be off the charts to go up against women and think their winning is fair.

LapdanceShoeshine · 06/04/2018 12:57

Only 2 comments showing

& look at the green arrows on this EXTREMELY SENSIBLE one!

Whilst people transitioning will be a permanent feature of modern life ... those people should accept that as a result there are things they just can not now do

Was that one of you? Grin
