Amy, the architect and hero of ManFriday has been invited on Good Morning Britain this morning. As far as we know the interview will be 7:40am. Please tune in.

I’ll take one for the team and watch from now, updating the thread when I see she comes on Grin as it’s the very least I can do considering she is going up against Piers Morgan and Peter Tatchell.

Good luck to her!

Thanks, weebo
Well done, Amy, a calm voice of reason which moved this debate on immeasurably. Proud of #manfriday.

Amy you were AMAZING. Really really calm and collected.

The whole point which you are making very well is that if self id comes in, any distinction that people try to draw between men and women is meaningless.

No-one would even need to go so far as to get a GRC via self-id.

It would be enough to know that anyone could, and that XYZ guidelines said that someone identifying as that opposite sex should not be challenged, and boom - men can go anywhere they like.

TerfsUp · 19/03/2018 13:22

Thank you, Weebo, for the link.

Amy, you were brilliant.

Jane Fae was not at all helpful to the trans ideology cause.

swivelchair · 19/03/2018 13:29

Watching it now Weebo - Thanks a million.

Amy, you were fantastic - calm, clear, and you got the points across. REALLY, REALLY well done.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 19/03/2018 13:33

something on the self-ID form that says that signing it without genuinely intending to change gender is an offence.

This is what was proposed in the Scottish consultation - the issue however is when self-identity is king how can you tell if someone is actually self-identifying as what they say they are...

DarthArts · 19/03/2018 13:40

I personally feel that part of the issue of self id, aside from its potential to to be abused by an individual is that we are already seeing current legislation undermined and safeguards pressured.

Swim UK, Top Shop, Girl Guides, the Labour Party etc etc are all responding to pressure that essentially ranks gender and sex as equal.

The legislation is not fully understood and further changes to the law that erode single sex service provision (by perception as much as legislation) is dangerous.

IfNot · 19/03/2018 13:45

Amy you're a legend.
Susanna Reid was good too. She asked some good questions that let Amy stick to the point.

That Jane person was not very coherent Confused.

ShotsFired · 19/03/2018 14:00

@OlennasWimple On the criminal thing, I think what JF was getting at is that there would probably be something on the self-ID form that says that signing it without genuinely intending to change gender is an offence.

Because in their little universe, having to sign a form is really what puts off the rapists, molesters and other sexual predators....Hmm

OlennasWimple · 19/03/2018 14:09

Well quite, Shots and ItsAll. I can quite believe that the form declaration would be sufficient to prevent, say, uni rugby teams completing the forms as part of Freshers Week fun and games. But not those who want to access women's spaces for nefarious reasons

Greensmurfterf · 19/03/2018 14:15

Amy you were fantastic, very well done.

Jane Fae was completely on the back foot, the prison comments were just rubbish.

The camera angles were great, Amy was allowed lots of time to speak. The BBC could really learn some lessons from that interview.

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 19/03/2018 14:16

Amy that was amazing. You're brilliant. And getting the petition in at the end when I would have been seething at how Jane was lying was also amazing. Well done.

Vickxy · 19/03/2018 14:19

Jane seemed to be talking a fair bit of bollocks there, but thats no change from normal really. Amy, you did great Grin

lostplot · 19/03/2018 14:21

Well done Amy, that was great! I think I'm being a bit thick today but I couldn't make out what JF was trying to say, none of it seemed to make any sense.

FairfaxAikman · 19/03/2018 14:28

Jane Fae was claiming people wouldn't falsely identify because they'd be breaking the law?
THAT explains why our court system is empty and judges up and down the country are twiddling their thumbs - people just don't do things that are against the law! Hmm
In that past week alone I've worked on two cases involving people fraudulently signing a bit of paper for their own gains - I have no reason to believe people wouldn't commit gender fraud for their own purposes.

OvaHere · 19/03/2018 14:34

Indeed Fairfax

It's almost like the government know this too given they exclude TIFs from challenging the primogeniture status relating to titles and land.

FairfaxAikman · 19/03/2018 14:37

The law is reason free from passion, Ova - unless you are a TIM, then feelz trump all!

AreYouTerfEnough · 19/03/2018 14:45

Tons of admiration for you Amy 🌻

You’re da man! 👍🏼😀

velourvoyageur · 19/03/2018 14:49

Amy, you were fantastic. Thank you Flowers

massive Hmm when JF said 'go into the tiger's den and see if they'll accept you as a giraffe' with absolutely no sense of irony!

Waddlelikeapenguin · 19/03/2018 14:54

Hurrah!
Anyone else got a youtube link weebo (?)'s one has been blocked.

BreakWindandFire · 19/03/2018 14:58

Years ago I was involved with campaigning on a civil liberties issue (not trans or feminism related) and had some contact with JF - she was then John Ozimek and working at The Register. A very sound, nice bloke, with a strong interest in human rights. I'm now Hmm at the transformation.

I do have a bit more sympathy for Jane than people like Lily Madigan ie. transitioned in middle age, after years of dysphoria, and had a full surgical transition, and lost their career, and a lot of their personal relationships along with way. JF has traveled a hard road, and can't seem to grasp that some men might misuse self-ID and falsely present as trans when they are not.

Still don't agree with Jane though!

Greensmurfterf · 19/03/2018 15:29

That's interesting BreakWind as I do think JF comes across as genuinely defending trans rights, I don't see the same narcissism as in LM or IW.

It's just a great shame JF can't seem to consider women in all their musings.I did think they looked very nervous today.

Having watched Heather Peto on the BBC yesterday it suddenly struck me how they don't really believe they are a woman because otherwise they wouldn't need to keep saying it. I don't have to tell anyone I'm a woman because I am and everyone knows I am.

Though I'm peak transed scales keep dropping from my eyes everyday!

LadyLance · 19/03/2018 16:19

Amy, you are so brave and such an inspiration. Well done Flowers

misscockerspaniel · 19/03/2018 17:38

Shots but how do you know if someone has or hasn't completed a form? Will they have to carry some sort of self-ID card? Will it be acceptable or even sensible to ask to see the certificate of the bearded wonder in the loos? No, of course not. And this will obviously be exploited by every Tom, Dick and Harry.

Ellenripleysalienbaby · 19/03/2018 17:40

Amy, I said it before to Hannah earlier, but I have fallen in love with the two of you! I watched you on GMB earlier, and I couldn't wait for you to speak each time because I knew that you would calmly make a good point, which you did!

I think we will look back on what you and Hannah have done as a turning point in this whole madness. What you are achieving is truly amazing, thank you!
