Just spotted on Twitter that Women's Place are holding a meeting in Oxford next month. I don't think the tickets are on sale yet.

Is anyone on here going to go?

I'm in! Police had to walk myself and a mother in as they had threatened her and her child

Melamin · 25/04/2018 20:07

Glad you are safe. Love and Strength.
If there is a meeting any where near me, I am going!

ThisisSparta · 25/04/2018 20:09

Glad you got in safely Doublemint

(Really hope that the police are starting to question why women need their help to attend a meeting discussing women’s rights)

Flowers and Gin to you all.

Women gathering to discuss proposed legislation being protested by Oxford University Students.

This in itself shows that there is a serious problem going on with this issue

Oxford, meant to be the cream of our countries youth and... yeah.

cromeyellow0 · 25/04/2018 20:19

I'm sure there will be a lot of pressure on the venue. It would be useful to express your gratitude by emailing [email protected]

Beyond11cisRetinol · 25/04/2018 20:19

Gin to the person who coined "brown skirts" on twitter though

Greymisty · 25/04/2018 20:21

doublemint glad your in safely WineWine

DNAnotGRA · 25/04/2018 20:23

doublemint - appalled to read that a mother and child have been intimidated - this is out of control

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 25/04/2018 20:26

that photo of the protesters outside, there doesn't seem to be many (any?) covering their faces, compared to eg the Bristol meeting. Are they mainly Oxford uni students then, rather than Sisters Uncut/Action for Trans Health types?

Sickoffamilydrama · 25/04/2018 20:30

Arghh live about 40 mins away but Oxford is the town I grow up it's MY town. If i left now would I miss the whole thing???

Greymisty · 25/04/2018 20:38

Catching up on the live tweeting reading it makes me wanna cry - "if the sex of a person becomes merely a matter of self id then we will completely lose the ability to talk about sexism and male violence towards women in any meaningful way.....that's enough to conclude it's a bad idea."
And yet people (politicians) aren't concluding its a bad idea are they?!

Invalid · 25/04/2018 20:39

@Sickoffamilydrama

You’ll probably miss the talk, but you could join the people in the pub for the socialising after!

Sickoffamilydrama · 25/04/2018 20:48

Thanks @Invalid I'm going to see if I can go to another meeting. So annoyed how fucking dare they and in MY town....

changeypants · 25/04/2018 20:55

Some of the most privileged youth in the world. And they couldn't have just bought a ticket and joined in the Q and A? These are tomorrow's journalists and politicians.

Beyond11cisRetinol · 25/04/2018 20:57

Urgh that's a scary thought. How many of them are future politicians?!

SwearyGodPervert · 25/04/2018 21:28

They were still outside when we left chanting "Oxford loves transwomen" and all but one refused a biscuit. Rude.
