Women's Place meeting, Oxford - 25th April

Just spotted on Twitter that Women's Place are holding a meeting in Oxford next month. I don't think the tickets are on sale yet.

Is anyone on here going to go?

The university statement also demanded that people support Action for Trans Health, whose manifesto says:

"There will be no clinics, and no authorities. We will conduct our own research, and experiment with our own bodies... We demand nothing less than the total abolition of the clinic, of psychiatry, and of the medical-industrial complex. We demand an end to capitalist & colonialist “medicine”.

They also demand the release of all trans prisoners.

According to Twitter the meeting is being held at the Quaker Meeting House in Oxford.

I'm a Quaker. Our meeting houses are used by lots of groups and the pressure is increasing to "no platform" people. Locally we have pressure from pro Israeli groups to "ban" pro Palestinian groups, and have had pressure from police due to hosting anti fascist groups.

Terfmore, I'm not, but I used to attend meeting. It was nice. My first thought when I heard the venue was 'bloody hell, I hope the TRAs don't trash it'

With you all this evening in spirit. I read the SU Facebook post and I find it genuinely chilling to see such rank wilful ignorance coming from the supposed brightest academic achievers. They are fucking idiots.

This thread is really making me smile. Looking forward to hearing how the biscuits go down (maybe it will become a thing for Mumsnetters attending). Also want to say how proud I am of everyone who is attending. The solidarity between everyone is fantastic and it really makes me feel hopeful when I’m reading about how women are supporting those who are worried about going in alone. Bravo to all of you. :)

The protesters didn't show up! Apparently they're down the road at a square, though there is talk about them maybe coming later. Just have to not eat the biscuits in the interim.

Interestingly they didn’t show up at the Birmingham event either, held in the Quaker meeting house.

Seems I spoke too soon. They're outside now - turning up after the meeting was scheduled to start...
