It's a good long while ago but the women of the door of clubs would check the bra line (for drugs presumably), sides all the way to hips from under arm and pat down right up to the top of your legs, sometimes it felt downright intrusive. I would NOT like a man to do that kind of search. I think it may depend on the type of club - the dance music type places were a lot more thorough as they searched for drugs not just weapons (checked bags too) . As I said this was quite a while ago though as I am old!

I do worry about Lily though - I have an ASD friend who has become very involved in both the Labour Party and Trans movement in a very similar way to LM - I feel both are getting a sense of belonging/ rules and order they don’t get from the world as a whole.
