Darth
LM seems to be getting into panic mode, most recent 35 tweets are retweets pleading for trans support .

DarthArts · 25/03/2018 19:52

@mimivanne

Yes - also interesting that for someone who has 9k followers, most tweets only get a like of 20/30/40 people.

Suggests perhaps that a lot of followers aren't actually supportive.

StopPOP · 27/03/2018 22:47

LM Twitter is preferable to LM now as most people are blocked and those that remain fawn dutifully.

Daff0dil · 27/03/2018 23:15

The people blocked have had a large part of of Twitter hidden from them. There are much wider implications and consequences..... it really isn't about LM!

BloodyFreezing · 28/03/2018 00:32

LM is now complaining that scholarships and bursaries are for students from poor families, not those from rich families. It's so unfair apparently:

DarthArts · 28/03/2018 01:43

Another begging tweet essentially.

ICJump · 28/03/2018 04:17

How can a Labour Party member not understand why bursary are for poor students. Is LM really just trolling the Labour Party?

Exactly this.

Imagine being part of a wave of society constantly dismissing “middle class white women” as totally irrelevant, whilst moaning you’re too rich to access a bursary whilst presenting as a middle class white woman.

It’s almost as though LM has no idea what the Labour Party is about.Confused

mumgogetter · 28/03/2018 06:14

Her poor poor family, LM can't leave them out of her self absorbed social media updates.

Also what I don't get is that LM tweets this just after that study was published about grammar schools and social mobility.
The researcher was on the news and basically said no one who has been poor all their life gets into a grammar school - no one.

LM does not have a clue.

How can LM represent women? LM can't.

NO IDEA.

AngryAttackKittens · 28/03/2018 07:09

Maybe if Lily was nicer to Lily's family then Lily could avoid the will never live that one down embarrassment of having it on record that Lily as a member of the Labour party thinks that rich people not getting bursaries is unfair.

(Yo, Bromentum, I know you think this shit is how to win the youth vote and all, but aren't you going to even try to pretend that you represent the working class? )

SimonBridges · 28/03/2018 08:03

But what if she identifies as poor?

Student whinges about being skint... Hardly news or something shocking (or really worth stinking up social media with) is it?

Mumsnut · 28/03/2018 08:15

I think this is unfair to Lily, actually.

As I read it, Lily's gripe is that Lily comes from too wealthy a background to be eligible for a bursary, but isn't actually sharing in any of that wealth because estranged from family.

Not just that rich kids should get bursaries.

Or I may just be very dim.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 28/03/2018 08:16

Doesn't Lily live with mum and dad? Maybe if Lily didn't constantly insult and drag the family into the limelight...

MissPiggysKarateChop · 28/03/2018 09:06

I worked 2 jobs while I was at university ... just sayin'

It's a thought anyway, I hear a lot of students do it Shock

Mumsnut · 28/03/2018 09:22

True 'nuff

TheGoldenBough · 28/03/2018 09:33

From what I understand, L M still lives at home with parents/family. If they were truly estranged then, I believe, parental income/wealth would not be considered by SLC.

Self identifying as estranged..?

LangCleg · 28/03/2018 09:38

There are arrangements for finance for students estranged from their families, separate to those for care leavers.

Lily's problem is that Lily is not estranged. Lily tweets to complain about Lily's parents while on visits to Lily's parents' house. Lily will have to either wait to go to university until Lily has not communicated with any of Lily's family for a period of one year, or will have to accept that Lily's parents may have conditions on any financial support they give (then again, they may not have any because we don't necessarily trust everything Lily says).

AsAProfessionalFekko · 28/03/2018 09:43

I feel sorry for Lily's lecturers to be honest. I suspect they won't be an easy student to teach.

PositivelyPERF · 28/03/2018 09:48

Replying to @madigan_lily and @MyrtleBMC*
You can get extra financial help because you have a disability (link: www.gov.uk/disabled-students-allowances-dsas) gov.uk/disabled-student*

Yes Li(ar)ly, why don’t you apply for help? Shouldn’t be a problem, with your diagnosed (?) disabilities, should it? 😒

AngryAttackKittens · 28/03/2018 09:53

I think that if you have on child who's a narcissistic mess and at least two other children at home at some point you have to choose to protect the other kids from their difficult sibling, and thus if Lily is still at home that's probably a time limited situation given the attempts to blame social media misbehavior on the brother and the school saying that the sister was having a hard time coping with the whole TRA thing.

Lancelottie · 28/03/2018 10:18

It's awful trying to get extra financial help for disabilities, actually, and the student doesn't see the money -- it goes direct to things like software, equipment and other adjustments, and maybe a weekly meeting with a hapless bod who is supposed to help you organise work without having the first idea what work you should be doing.

sashh · 28/03/2018 10:37

Lancelottie

The DSA yes that goes to students but if you have disabilities yo can access some benefits. Some all year and some just over the summer so if you are entitled to PIP you can also claim ESA in some circumstances.

If Lily does have all the conditions Lily claims to have then Lily should be one of the most financially stable students in Lily's uni.

SusanWalker · 28/03/2018 10:54

Seem to remember working in bars a lot through uni. I did get full grant/loan but even back then it wasn't enough to live on. My parents were disabled and on benefits. It was difficult enough for them to feed me in the holidays, let alone giving me money. You work all through the summer holidays then work part time at uni. It's not rocket science. And I would expect it's easier to get a part time job in London than a lot of other places.
