If so, see you there!

Do you think it'll be mobbed by TRAs as the venue's been announced in advance or not because of the security at the HOC?

Tried to get through to David TC Davies but no reply. Sent a short email however.

hipsterfun · 14/03/2018 15:01

incredible statement by the Deptford community group. really sums it up for me personally. i want to shout AND THIS IS WHY I HAVE BEEN VOTING LABOUR ALL THESE FUCKING YEARS

Same here. And we finally get an actual left wing leader, only to watch him transform the party into a playground for gentrifying ID pol fools. Especially, as the statement says, people from Goldsmith's, the locus of UK queer and pomo ideologues.

And me.

Goldsmiths is an embarrassment.

Left it too late and tickets were all sold out, but have just called DTCD’s office to express heartfelt gratitude.

athingthateveryoneneeds · 14/03/2018 15:12

I've also emailed my MAP and asked him to attend, or at least speak to Mr Davies. I live in a strong Labour area and am an extreme optimist.

Nosetothesun · 14/03/2018 15:14

LGBTQ official twitter account now in supportive discussion with Guiliana seeking evidence to cancel the event....

Fekko · 14/03/2018 15:44

Supporting the suppression of free speech and open discussion? That really isn't on. They should be be ashamed of aligning themselves with such extreme views. Especially the 'L's!

athingthateveryoneneeds · 14/03/2018 15:45

What are the chances of it being cancelled?

Attempts to shut it down are running on two fronts....

  1. With dossier of evidence of 'Hate Speak' as collated by Guiliana et al & speakers being either under investigation / suspended from LAbour Party
  2. That the event is women-only so in contravention to equalities acts (
Nosetothesun · 14/03/2018 16:04

#endthehate is trending today on twitter and is big news. It is being used by TRA as tag against those speaking this evening & also in support for Susie from Mermaids....

Not seen it on mine. Not sure it will convince many. No-one is claiming the TRAs can't use social media well. I think the general public just don't realise that the term transexual (as used by them and as will be if gender self id comes in) no longer applies to a handful of folk who have had counselling, surgery and hormones but anyone who wants to claim to be of the opposite gender/sex with no modifications at all. The message will gradually filter through and we will win. Most people are sensible.

TheGrumpySquirrel · 14/03/2018 16:14

Following the thread, really hope it goes ahead. The statement from deptford is brilliant

2rebecca · 14/03/2018 16:15

Is it set on "trends for you" rather than location?

Tralalee · 14/03/2018 16:33

People just don't realise. I find it immensely frustrating that if you mention women's loos, they say do you REALLY think transwomen will go to all the trouble of living g as a woman and dressing as a woman just to see women on the loo?? And they just don't realise that if self id goes ahead these transwomen could look exactly like men, with beards and penis especially, so THAT MEN WHO WANT TO DO HARM CAN ENTER WITHOUT CHALLENGE

Fekko · 14/03/2018 16:35

They know where I work.

qumquat · 14/03/2018 16:58

I am so confused about the NEW and EXTRA events. I don't know if the ticket I have is for the right event!

Datun · 14/03/2018 16:59

NEW is for the original meeting.

Click on it, go through the motions. It will give you a new ticket.

HairyBallTheorem · 14/03/2018 17:13

Fekko - have you been doxxed? Shock

CAAKE · 14/03/2018 17:18

Following here and on twitter. Wish I could be there 👊

Fekko · 14/03/2018 17:19

Oh no - reading that back in can see how it looks like that! No we've had 'the talk' at work!

HairyBallTheorem · 14/03/2018 17:20

Phew!

MarSeeAh · 14/03/2018 17:23

Popping in from Scotland to say that I've just realised I'm actually excited about this evening's meeting! As in physically, fidgety, smiley excited! I think reading the twitter thread from Deptford has set me off!

Please let the tide be turning! I'm daring to think it is...

MarSeeAh · 14/03/2018 17:24

I'm not going to the meeting! Just the thought of it has set me off!
