If so, see you there!

Do you think it'll be mobbed by TRAs as the venue's been announced in advance or not because of the security at the HOC?

I'm a long way away - but I'm glad to see women getting somewhere with this - good luck all, have a pint for me after!

Mumsnut · 14/03/2018 08:05

I shall carry Poms

IndominusRex · 14/03/2018 08:12

To get into the HOC you go via a side entrance and there are airport style security checks.

SweetGrapes · 14/03/2018 08:29

Anyone know how I Green card my MP? Do I need some material to leave them?

grandplans · 14/03/2018 09:34

Mumsnut ha! Great idea :)

SweetGrapes · 14/03/2018 10:42

Thanks Terfy. I will take a look before going.

AreYouTerfEnough · 14/03/2018 10:59

I live too far away, but will be there in spirit and anxious to hear how it goes.

Good luck 🍀 and lots of strength to those who’ll be attending.

I hope the TRAs make an undignified nuisance of themselves as they usually do Wink

Destinysdaughter · 14/03/2018 11:33

There's stuff like this on Twitter wanting to shut this meeting down:

House of Commons event - anyone else going?
GenderApostate · 14/03/2018 11:47

They are desperate to stop it going ahead , I wouldn’t put anything past them tbh. I don’t want to speculate as it might give them ideas !
I hope they make an utter nuisance of themselves outside and it backfires spectacularly, sowing who the real ‘fascists and bigots’ are . 🤬

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 14/03/2018 11:49

Fancy admitting on Twitter to ringing three times in three different voices Hmm
They're not the brightest.

ShotsFired · 14/03/2018 11:51

ARSE. I am going to London tomorrow but will be tied up in meetings from dawn till dusk.

I wish I'd realised the date and time sooner and I might have been able to reschedule.

Tralalee · 14/03/2018 11:51

Good luck. I hope it goes ahead.

LangCleg · 14/03/2018 12:03

Brilliant Twitter thread on why a particular group of community workers is attending the meeting today:

Arealhumanbeing · 14/03/2018 12:11

Hi all. New to the feminism boards.

What was this event and how do I find out about others?

LongWeek · 14/03/2018 12:17

I'm very amused that everyone on Twitter is tweeting David Davis (EU chap) about this when he's not hosting it. Perhaps that'll help him get to peak trans.
(I know it's not him as I can access HoC intranet & see who is hosting & exactly where)

If lots of TRAs get into Parliament and start being vocal outside the meeting room they'll be removed pretty quickly. Lots of armed police won't like loud aggressive activists.

I'm sorry I can't be there. I'd tell DH (he's an MP) to go but it's women only.

To all those going-hope it goes well.

Wonderful statement from the Deptford People Project on tonight's meeting:

HomeTerf · 14/03/2018 12:31

"This hateful event will incite violence, breach the equalities act and drag us back to 1960s gender roles"

I wonder if whoever wrote that will be reassured to discover that all three statements are about as wrong as it's possible to be. (I also wonder if they paused to ask themselves if feminists are really likely to want to return to 1960s gender roles?)

Looking forward to hearing all about this. Wishing everyone attending a productive and positive evening.

PositivelyPERF · 14/03/2018 12:36

I don’t the TRAs themselves will protest but they will send loads of their silly female handmaidens in their place.

LongWeek · 14/03/2018 12:40

PositivelyPERF but if they cause a ruckus they'll get ejected fairly quickly.

You get challenged very quickly in HoP if you're in the wrong place and with all the dodgy packages in the last few days they'll be very jumpy.

Security level will also be at its highest as its Wednesday, (PMQ day) and the police & authorities will not like any kind of demonstration on site. I'm sure there's CCTV everywhere too so they'll know who is causing the problems.

TerfyMcTerface · 14/03/2018 12:52

Interesting that the statement from the Deptford community group names the university so explicitly. If this was any other issue, the university would be concerned about its students causing such a nuisance to the local community. Universities employ staff to foster and improve community relations, even funding special constables to ensure that students are not causing upset to neighbours. And that’s without such vulnerable people being affected. However, since trans ideology is embedded so thoroughly in universities (and this one in particular) I doubt that a complaint to Goldsmiths would have any mileage.

NauticalDisaster · 14/03/2018 13:04

Well, I called the numbers Sisters Uncut posted so I could lend my support to the meeting this evening and this was the response:

  • Maria Milker's office does not want to know anything about woman supporting this meeting. The woman who answered the phone would only repeat that it is David Davies holding the meeting and that Maria Miller has nothing to do with.
I mentioned that MM should be interested in the fact that women appreciate the opportunity to be heard at this meeting and that we don't want to be silenced but she would only repeat that Maria Miller has nothing to do with the meeting.
  • the number for the chief whip is his constituency office and they don't deal with his ministerial duties.
rowdywoman1 · 14/03/2018 13:12

That is a very powerful and telling statement from the Deptford People's Project. I hope that it is re-tweeted at all those who are trying to shut this down, especially those currently in parliament.

Wishing everyone well - hope it is constructive and safe.

Wanderingwomb · 14/03/2018 13:23

incredible statement by the Deptford community group. really sums it up for me personally. i want to shout AND THIS IS WHY I HAVE BEEN VOTING LABOUR ALL THESE FUCKING YEARS
