This is the petition asking the government to consult with women on the proposals to enshrine gender identity in law.

Signed

LizzieSiddal · 12/03/2018 22:44

One brave woman shared in my CLP Women's Forum group. I offered my support but we were swiftly shouted over and threatened with expulsion from the group!

Have you got screenshots? (With names blanked out of course.
The press would love that story and it would give the petition a huge amount of publicity.

DNAnotGRA · 12/03/2018 22:45

@MaryThorne, looking forward to linking up!

aaahhhBump · 12/03/2018 22:47

Could anyone share with pie and bovril?
They were peaking on the last thread on here about them?

PissedOffWoman · 12/03/2018 22:47

Signed.

katieflorins · 12/03/2018 22:49

Why would anyone object to this?

Even if you're a woman who's pro-self-ID then you presumably want to be able to say so?

Terftastic · 12/03/2018 22:57

7 in my constituency. Wish I knew them Grin

Although one is def my DH....

CoffeeMilkNoSugar · 12/03/2018 23:02

Is it too risky to share our constituencies here? Perhaps we could be crafty and say a neighbouring one just so we can more-or-less know where we are...

Crewe and Nantwich

Terftastic · 12/03/2018 23:05

I'm Sevenoaks Smile

NoqontroI · 12/03/2018 23:05

6 in mine. Although one is dp and one is a friend. So only 3 others :-(

2rebecca · 12/03/2018 23:05

If I was a woman who wanted to self ID as a man whilst still obviously looking like a woman I would be in favour of as wide a debate as possible before it became law so everyone didn't just think I was batshit.
I think it's in everyone's interests to get this properly debated.

BeyondDeadlySiren · 12/03/2018 23:09

Very surprised to find that not only am I not the first person in my constituency to sign it, but four people beat me to it! And another two from the other side of the river too. Shock

LabourLostMe · 12/03/2018 23:29

5 in mine, I'm related to two of them, but would love to meet the other two. My local feminist FB group has removed openly gender critical feministsConfused

BeyondDeadlySiren · 12/03/2018 23:34

Aye I'm banned from my closest feminist group for being a terf... Wonder if we're in the same area Grin

drinkswineoutofamug · 12/03/2018 23:37

I've tweeted a well known tv shoe. Asking why they , as the talk women's matters and rights haven't discussed this. This will be the 3rd time they have been asked. Possibly the 3rd time they ignore.

Amethyst975 · 12/03/2018 23:37

Signed! 2 others in my area!

CatchingBabies · 12/03/2018 23:40

Signed and shared

tothefareast80 · 12/03/2018 23:45

Signed and bumping.

sexnotgender · 12/03/2018 23:51

13 in Edinburgh north.

boatyardblues · 12/03/2018 23:52

Playing with the petition map, I am very relieved to not be checking the York constituencies... It’s a long list.

LabourLostMe · 13/03/2018 00:00

BeyondDeadlySiren

Very possibly! I imagine many of today's signatories are here on MN. We really need to think of a handshake for meeting IRL Smile

It is a lot of signatures for the first day. It would really help if someone high profile shared it on Twitter.

ColdFeetAndHotCakes · 13/03/2018 00:03

Signed

YesItsADebate · 13/03/2018 00:15

CoffeeMilkNoSugar do screenshot and put on here & Twitter. A women’s constituency party threatening to ban women for daring to share a petition asking for women to be consulted on laws that affect... women?!

I’m calling it a night. Love and girl power to those 2818 brave, bonkers, wonderful people out there.

And do you know what makes me so angry? That I just wondered whether I should put DS, who wandered into my bed for a snuggle and is now fast asleep, back in his own bed because my bedroom faces the road and I might get a brick through the window Angry How dare the political establishment foster this environment where men openly attack women for defending thei rights and protections, and use the instruments of state to assist them? How dare they?!
