I have a transsexual friend of about 15 years' standing - I think she'd support this idea of a consultation (and will ask) and I know from a chat we had last week that she doesn't like either TRAs nor Momentum's support of TRAs. They make her feel vulnerable.

Ken lots of trans people are against self ID, maybe you could bring it up with them

The risk here is that if we don't get enough signatures then this could be taken to mean that the general population are "okay" with the direction of travel in relation to this issue. I'm not suggesting the is a reason not to have the petition but to make the point that every mner who is concerned needs to pull out all the stops to assist in hitting the 100,000. Hopefully someone more eloquent than me can come up with wording that people can use to talk about the petition in a fairly neutral way on their social media accounts if they are concerned about backlash - surely free speech hasn't been so damaged that simply talking about the existence of this petition would risk friendships/livelihoods etc?

Momentum and their ilk are on course to damage relations and trust between women's and transsexual community, instinctive trust that always existed and is at risk of being damaged by activists with a completely different agenda.

Do you feel you can share this somewhere with more traffic? Chat maybe?

Please share in chat - I didn't understand this issue one week ago - other people need to find out their daughters' rights are in danger from bullying activists - Momentum etc.

We’ve got six months to get the signatures, it’s only been a few hours. Six months is a long time - plenty more people will peak trans in that time, and plenty more people will come here and find these threads.

I know, I can't help but feel this would get so many more signatures if we were a bit more bold about sharing it out there!!! All it's asking for is bloody consultation for gods sake and I'm still too chicken shit to put it on my FB!

@MrsFogi alas I know my livelihood would be damaged. Employer would not want to hear the nuance as soon as the TRA’s showed up, and they would show up. It’s shit.

I do talk about it in person though. And on here. But I couldn’t share on social media.
