Relevant section:

Meanwhile, a woman who criticised a transgender charity on Twitter has been questioned under caution by police and told she will be arrested if she tries to leave the country. Kellie-Jay Keen- Minshull accused the group Mermaids of “suppressing free speech”.

She had accused Mermaids, which calls for children to be allowed irreversible sex-change treatment the NHS currently prohibits, of “prey[ing]” on gay teenagers and of “mass child abuse”. Mermaids declined to comment.

anlaf I am watching that ted talk.

I simply do not get it, this talk about toys.

How insane is it? Obviously her child picked up on parental conflict.

When I was a little girl I told my parents to never buy me another doll or girl toy.

The reason was my brothers had boy toys that I was fine with (being Star Wars) and my parents were too poor.

Same with clothes I was fine with hand me downs because I clicked very early on that my parents were much poorer than other kids parents.

My goodness would I be seen as a trans kid.

I actually got a part time job and then bought my own toys.

Every day now I wondering what new flavour of OMFG I don't believe this!!!!! I'll be waking up to and this is just...I'm speechless.

posieparker Flowers and Gin for you. Stay strong and so much admiration for you. Happy to put my money where my fat mouth is too!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 11/03/2018 15:45

Another one willing to chuck some cash in a crowdfunder...

stickyice · 11/03/2018 15:46

And sorry don't want to derail the thread that mermaids Ted talk and the "girl brain in a boy body"

I mean how sexist is that?

stickyice · 11/03/2018 15:46

And thank you posieparker

Thank you BrewWineThanks

stickyice · 11/03/2018 15:51

Ok I am a bit new to this but can't believe the ted talk. I mean S Green talks about her trans daughter having her Dad wrapped around his little finger.

Why can't people see that this is just sexism.

Talk or girl and boy brains?

Cross dressing bull shit

Feeding children hormone or hormone suppression.

Taking away the rights of women.

WHERE IS THE RESPECT FOR SCIENCE?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 11/03/2018 15:53

Can you imagine how Susie Green will feel.if it does goes to court, and castration and child abuse are determined to be factual rather than pejorative statements.

Imagine having to live with knowing you has done that to your own child - I'm.not surprised she's a bit twitchy about it.

stickyice · 11/03/2018 16:05

Hi again I am quite new to all this.

How did Susie Green get her child those types of drugs ?

How was her child able to have life changing surgery like that?

Would she have had to go through any child services checks for example?

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 11/03/2018 16:13

WHERE IS THE RESPECT FOR SCIENCE?

Well said!

Susie Green took her child abroad (America for the hormones, Thailand for the surgery I think?) but transactivists are lobbying to have the age restrictions on these interventions relaxed in the UK.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 11/03/2018 16:25

stickyice apologies for DM link, but it's a fairly comprehensive write up

www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2235781/Jackie-Green-Transgender-beauty-queen-praises-amazing-family-ahead-BBC-documentary.html

stickyice · 11/03/2018 16:30

Thanks - I just can't see how it is legal to take a 16 year old out of the UK for that type of surgery or for any type of drug treatment???? How fucked up is that. I mean Thailand isn't exactly a world leader when it comes to children and women's rights?

Having watched that ted talk I am just amazed.

I mean it was all about that mother.

Gosh by supporting and heavily promoting the transing of her child she got herself a whole bunch of new friends and a big fat ceo salary and position and people who fawn over her.

What a complete lot of tosh. Utter tosh.

Talk of what costumes the child wore.

I guess if I was a kid or a toddler and I went to the same child minders I would try what was in their dressing up box.

Look at the way Sally Green showed pictures of her child to the audience. the one where she says her child likes it because she looks "hot" as she is is wearing her short shorts and a bikini top. What is that about? Is that meant to show a happy ending of an objectified child?

The way her child entered into a beauty contest as an achievement? A beauty contest = achievement.

This is all about the objectification of women.

This seems all about throwing your child into dubious treatments. Letting your child have unnecessary surgery? Really??

Talk of boy and girl brains??? AngryAngryYet we are supposed to put up with having women's achievements or shortlist's being accommodating to Trans people.

The bit about the child being abused by another parent out a car window and having to call the Police.

Well great, no one should get abused like that ever, but do women get the Police on their side when they are cat called or sworn at for walking down the street? Is Lily Madigan gong to do anything about the women who die every week due to domestic violence.

TERFragetteCity · 11/03/2018 16:39

Ok I am a bit new to this

Have you #PeakTransed already?

Beerincomechampagnetastes · 11/03/2018 16:47

After watching the Ted talk i am even angrier if that's possible.

Of course her child was happier on holiday ???
Of course he was happy when he went back to school and all the children and the teachers were kind and supportive. He must have felt so special as a child going through a difficult time at home and his parents divorce???

Truly appalling behaviour from his mother, shame on her.

I would really like to hear his fathers view on Susie's behaviour toward their child.

Angry
CapnHaddock · 11/03/2018 16:47

I know Posie has already posted on this thread but her blog: www.theposieparker.com/news gives a really full account of what has happened to her.

I'm in shock. I always thought Green was a deluded narcissist but this is appalling. I would also like this to go before the CPS so that we can blow this whole nonsense open. Mermaids needs to be stripped of its status as a recommended resource for gender questioning children and their families and be exposed for the cultish organisation it really is

Beerincomechampagnetastes · 11/03/2018 16:49

Oh..and everything stickyice said..and almost everyone else on this thread.

fatasapancake · 11/03/2018 16:50

I'm more of a lurker than a poster but this has peak trans'd DH! We're in to donate for legal costs too.

HairyBallTheorem · 11/03/2018 16:54

Blimey, Posie's blog is appalling. How can this happen in a supposedly free country?

HairyBallTheorem · 11/03/2018 17:02

For some reason the second half of my post isn't showing up. Both the Oxford and Cambridge Dictionaries define castration as the removal of testicles in a male animal or human. Maybe their editors should be on the stand along side Posie?

CapnHaddock · 11/03/2018 17:03

I suspect the Hate Crime officer being Jackie Green's best friend has got something to do with it @HairyBallTheorem. It isn't hard to get in touch with Posie either so I can only assume that SG pushed and pushed to get this escalated. Like a rat backed into a corner.

The stakes are definitely getting higher because more and more voices are speaking out. Ironically, without self-ID being on the horizon, I suspect Mermaids would have been able to operate under the radar for a lot longer.

stickyice · 11/03/2018 17:03

I don't really get peaktransed.

I follow the feminism boards.

I am simply shocked that in 2018 such bias and sexism is so prevalent.

I would just hope that anyone talking about boy and girl brains would just stop being so ignorant and try educate themselves.

Again watching S Green and her Ted Talk just made me so angry and sad for her child.
What objectification and why do that do your child? It seems to promote her views as the CEO for Mermaids.

I only saw someone espousing her feelings there was not scientific basis or rigour. I have never seen anything like it. Her approval of the tale recoiled by the primary head of the girls talking about a girl brain in a boy body.

To me it is totally selfish parenting.

As a parent I believe you are there to try raise your children in a community and be resilient and hopefully they will sort things out but you need to lead the way. You need to point out when you see sexism and racism and power and poverty. You need to point out when there is no evidence.

You need to want the best for your children.
You need to ensure they have critical thinking skills and resilience.

I am just aghast that someone would allow their child to be the youngest person in the world to undertake such major surgery and try say it stopped suicide. Again, where is the science? Also where is the love?

As an example when I gave birth I tore very badly and so there was much talk of surgery for me. I researched everything and realising that I had children quite late and that after menopause I may still have pelvic floor issues I decided to forgo any surgery.

Anyhow the point being is that I questioned consultants and doctors (some male and some female) and I wanted to make sure that I was making an informed decision - thank god I did. I read medical papers and so on and so on.

I mean I have decided to accept my body and understand that I may have permanent damage but that is because I fully researched what science could and could not offer.

So now I look at people like L Madigan and think what would you do to advance women with birth trauma, or other trauma, how on earth could you even spend a moment doing anything to help women when it appears you don't accept basic biology.

Then I look at someone I admire like lInda Bellos and see the complete rubbish she has had thrown at her and none of it makes sense.

And then I hear about this outrageous Police caution and I think it is the Emperor's New Clothes...

HerFemaleness · 11/03/2018 17:15

I don't see how this could go to CPS but I'm willing to chip in for a legal fund if it does. Best of British Posie, you're not alone. Have an un-mumsnety hug.

Melamin · 11/03/2018 17:24

If it does not go to the CPS, is there anything can be done such as an official complaint? Would it need backing from some organisation to give it legs?

therealposieparker · 11/03/2018 17:36

The CPS are considering the charges, if any.

TheGoalIsToStayOutOfTheHole · 11/03/2018 17:48

Venice Allan, the meeting’s organiser, said: “I got a call from the club saying they’d never seen anything like it — constant phone calls, emails, tweets. They were really spooked. It wasn’t exactly ‘No one likes us, we don’t care’.”

A Millwall spokesman said the event “was cancelled mutually with the organisers. We were pulled into a drama that we didn’t really feel we should be part of.”

Such a shame that transactivists bullying tactics are so effective. I cannot blame businesses for ancelling if they get constant emails/phonecalls and such, which will affect the rest of their business. But surely something could be done about this? Like, is it not classed as harassment or something to constantly contact companies to try and get them to cancel events? I cannot see any company taking that well..if I did not want an event happening near me, could I just ring over and over giving abuse and hogging their staff/time, and there is no comeback to this, infact I am rewarded by getting what i want? Seems really wrong, if this is all ok surely.

It really does spook transactivists when people want to actually discuss the changes doesn't it. Mind we know why, because as soon as people do speak/think into it all, they realise its all misogynistic and often homophobic nonsense. No wonder they are so desperate to shut events down. Bit of an own goal though surely, bringing so much attention to it. A friend of mine recently went 'full terf' over the whole maria/Wolf attack and the transactivists reaction to it. They knew next to nothing about it all til a TRA friend started posting stuff about how everyone should support 'the wolf' and that maria deserved to be hit and such.

I thought mumsnetters were generally in favour of hate crime legislation. I seem to remember a thread calling for it's scope to be extended?

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/3158748-To-think-mysogeny-should-not-be-made-a-hate-crime?pg=2&order

Or is the police investigating hate crime only problematic when it's one of your own?
