Relevant section:

Meanwhile, a woman who criticised a transgender charity on Twitter has been questioned under caution by police and told she will be arrested if she tries to leave the country. Kellie-Jay Keen- Minshull accused the group Mermaids of “suppressing free speech”.

She had accused Mermaids, which calls for children to be allowed irreversible sex-change treatment the NHS currently prohibits, of “prey[ing]” on gay teenagers and of “mass child abuse”. Mermaids declined to comment.

I'm sure I read somewhere that organisations have to carry out an impact assessment ie -consider how changes will affect the users of the service. Women from certain cultural background can NEVER share with men, so they are effectively being discriminated against. Similarly, many other women will not be comfortable, and they will no longer swim or do other sports. There is also the matter of physical advantage in races, and sport generally - will this put girls off?

Scotland's consultation said bluntly in their impact assessment 'there is not impact on women' and wouldn't even unpick it. Just a world of flat denial. However it's their culpability is right there in black and white when the legal cases start rolling in.

TheRollingCrone · 11/03/2018 13:12

Sandydrawsbadly has just put a brilliant drawing up on twitter, always a woman to make us Grin in this nightmare!

BoreOfWhabylon · 11/03/2018 13:13

@DaisyDrip. I think this issue transcends political views, class, and socio-economic status.

The threads on this topic are bringing in posters from across the political spectrum because it affects all of us. I hope you won't feel the need to lurk.

Ihavesomeballs · 11/03/2018 13:16

Count me in too in terms of legal costs. I have been reported on Facebook, perhaps the police will come knocking on my door next??? Do we need a petition or a march??

SuitedandBooted · 11/03/2018 13:17

MingerDynasty and Fairyflaps

Many thanks for your help. - I want to be well prepared, and able to argue the case well, without getting too Angry!

Nosetothesun · 11/03/2018 13:22

It's worth being aware of who retweets/likes 'Guilliana's' (described earlier as best ignored as troll-like) rather outrageous twitter claims. A quick look will show for example Heather Peto & Helen (Minnymum) from Mermaids.... The original claims eg baseball bats, inciting rape/suicide are being dispersed outwards and can be seen becoming and accepted as summary statements of 'fact' about WPUK/'TERFs' etc.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 11/03/2018 13:32

I know Nose but they have blocked everyone and live in their own little world

ijustwannadance · 11/03/2018 13:33

Would the WYP's hate crime officer being a family friend not be seen as a conflict of interests on the case?

They seem absolutely determined to press charges and set an example.

Lefty99 · 11/03/2018 13:36

This is horrifying. Solidarity with posie what an amazing woman you are Flowers will help in any way I can

Datun · 11/03/2018 13:41

I sometimes wonder whether trans advocates truly think gender critical women are violent, baseball bat wielding thugs.

If they live in the same echo chamber as trans-activists, they are being fed this rubbish day in, day out.

picklemepopcorn · 11/03/2018 13:53

I'm struggling to keep track of the madness, but assuming all is as it appears I'm definitely in.

Though I'll need a master class.

I'm starting to share on Facebook- articles which are moderate and questioning rather than the up front blunt ones.

IKillGiants · 11/03/2018 14:07

Fascinating to hear that WYP's hate crime officer was susie green's son's "best friend" though.

Is that not a major conflict of interest? I’m assuming he’s been pushing for Posie’s arrest, interview, etc?

Terfinater · 11/03/2018 14:11

I thought this was spoof at first. How awful.

Judder · 11/03/2018 14:15

I will donate and back you Posie, am in awe of your courage

DontCisgenderMe · 11/03/2018 14:17

Bloody hell, Posie! Good luck. Please keep us posted and let us know if you need funds.

Love More Balls than Millwall as a slogan too!

Lefthanddown · 11/03/2018 14:33

Happy to donate if needed.

Anlaf · 11/03/2018 14:37

Is that not a major conflict of interest?

If that person is still in role - then you'd think.

Susie Green's TEDx talk is here

Just started listening to Susie Green: "As soon as he was mobile and could express himself he was gravitating towards things you'd see as stereotypically female...Jack's favourite outfits were the tutu and the Snow White costume..."

But none of this is about stereotypes, right.

Posie if you are charged with anything, I am genuinely considering handing myself into a central London police station with a list of my thought crimes, identical to yours, and inviting my arrest. (But I won't do this without your permission.)

Their tactics are to intimidate and pick on individual women. I don't think we can allow this.

Obviously many women can't risk even the slightest possibility of arrest, for all kinds of reasons. (Not that I think they would arrest us - but it's something you have to be prepared for.) But there are some of us who could weather this, and it's better for some of us to go in and approach them, if we can, rather than us all sit at home wondering whose door there will be a knock on next.

Chocolatecake84 · 11/03/2018 15:00

I know Posie from twitter. She's amazing and so brave.

Anything you need, just let us know. Happy to donate, to march etc.

BRHaunton · 11/03/2018 15:05

I've just been messaged and told on twitter that I am a 'homophobic cunt' and a 'raging nazi' who apparently be arrested for spreading hatred.

I'm a newly 'peaked' mn user (usually just lurking around on the creative writing section but was lured over here when I spotted a post in active)

I haven't posted anything that I felt was hateful (LM hasn't even blocked me yet, despite me posting GC stuff on her post)

My posts are in this username on twitter, so you can judge for yourself, but it just seems like common sense to me?

Sex is unchangeable. While people may have been accommodating in the past out of kindness for individuals, what is currently happening is unacceptable.

terfing · 11/03/2018 15:06

I have a feeling that this may be a significant event which will make many question the law in this area... I'm sorry that this will be stressful for you Posie, but I think you're going to make the history books here!

MIngerDynasty · 11/03/2018 15:10

Twitter is absoutely awash with racism, homophobia and sexism so I don't get how stating a fact could get anyone in to trouble. This just won't work.

Katy Hopkins should be in jail until her miserable racist gob falls off if you could go to jail for saying stuff people don't approve of.

Piers Morgan would be locked in a well somewhere and wouldn't that be a bit of a relief

KochabRising · 11/03/2018 15:23

@cloudtree

Just bringing this thread to your attention on the back of your remark re: your legal practice the other day.

posieparker this is chilling stuff, someone needs to take this on through the courts and make history. I hope a practice who fancy a challenge will step up

BeUpStanding · 11/03/2018 15:31

Another one here happy to donate and offer any support I can
