Relevant section:

Meanwhile, a woman who criticised a transgender charity on Twitter has been questioned under caution by police and told she will be arrested if she tries to leave the country. Kellie-Jay Keen- Minshull accused the group Mermaids of “suppressing free speech”.

She had accused Mermaids, which calls for children to be allowed irreversible sex-change treatment the NHS currently prohibits, of “prey[ing]” on gay teenagers and of “mass child abuse”. Mermaids declined to comment.

Posie linked to her own blog on page 21 of this thread. It’s all there if you scroll down a bit.

therealposieparker

You have been deliberately targeted because you have attempted to use your voice.

You haven't said anything that millions of women aren't saying.

But because you are credible and can get your point across you have to be shut up.

It's a warning shot, across the bows, to all women.

Our opinion must not be heard.

Their complacency makes them unaware that the more they try to shut people up, the more they will want to know what's going on.

You've reached half your target in what, a day?

It's a real mistake to tell women to shut the fuck up about their own rights.

Bangkokhilton · 13/03/2018 16:48

Thanks @MotheringShites and @BeyondDeadlySiren I've just listened and read Posie's blog about it. Here's the link to the blog for anyone else looking for it: medium.com/@ThePosieParker/james-obrien-misogyny-on-the-left-d9a320b840df

Another leftie man to feel disappointed in 😕

@therealposieparker did he respond to your letter to him? He should feel ashamed of himself. I wonder what it will take for him to reach Peak Trans or if he will simply dig his heels in & refuse to admit he got it wrong this time.

therealposieparker · 13/03/2018 16:54

He didn’t respond. I made my own video about the whole thing too...

WooWooSister · 13/03/2018 16:55

They live in echo chambers because they no-platform and refuse to debate. I think they genuinely underestimate the strength of opposition to performing SRS on children and/subjecting them to untested medication.

Akire · 13/03/2018 17:01

Great videos. I’m really suprised at James given he’s got a 8ish and 11ish old girls. Just sort age want to start going with friends to places like top shop without adults and being in position where adults males could be there. Will he have same open attitude if they feel uncomfortable about it. Or worse spied in or worse?

LabourLostMe · 13/03/2018 17:05

James O’Brien got trashed by his own fans for that, it's in the comments.

When these arguments are put to Joe Public nobody is having any of this nonsense.

BeyondDeadlySiren · 13/03/2018 17:23

Uh oh posie, you have helen's attention... 😂

He really does think he's being terribly brilliant and destroying Posie Parker's arguments, doesn't he? He sounds like a bullying, hectoring twat. At one point, he's clearly taken aback by the fact PosieParker has statistics to hand and he says, sneeringly, that it's clearly an area of expertise for her - as if it's a bad thing to be informed! Misogynistic arsehole - women, know your place and don't interrupt the bro-dude!

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 13/03/2018 17:36

Yes defending yourself legally is 'priviledged'.

As opposed to crowdfunders for taxis or begging requests for 'cute clothes'

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 13/03/2018 17:39

Have to say James O'Brien's voice doesn't match his face

therealposieparker · 13/03/2018 17:57

Thing is I'm not poor I just don't fancy remortgaging my house because some woman in West Yorkshire doesn't like it that I remind people that she took her son to Thailand to be castrated.

RedToothBrush · 13/03/2018 18:05

Totalitarianism
Totalitarianism begins in contempt for what you have. The second step is the notion: “Things must change—no matter how, Anything is better than what we have.” Totalitarian rulers organize this kind of mass sentiment, and by organizing it articulate it, and by articulating it make the people somehow love it. They were told before, thou shalt not kill; and they didn’t kill. Now they are told, thou shalt kill; and although they think it’s very difficult to kill, they do it because it’s now part of the code of behavior. They learn whom to kill and how to kill and how to do it together. This is the much talked about Gleichschaltung—the coordination process. You are coordinated not with the powers that be, but with your neighbor—coordinated with the majority. But instead of communicating with the other you are now glued to him. And you feel of course marvelous. Totalitarianism appeals to the very dangerous emotional needs of people who live in complete isolation and in fear of one another.

Lies
The moment we no longer have a free press, anything can happen. What makes it possible for a totalitarian or any other dictatorship to rule is that people are not informed; how can you have an opinion if you are not informed? If everybody always lies to you, the consequence is not that you believe the lies, but rather that nobody believes anything any longer. This is because lies, by their very nature, have to be changed, and a lying government has constantly to rewrite its own history. On the receiving end you get not only one lie—a lie which you could go on for the rest of your days—but you get a great number of lies, depending on how the political wind blows. And a people that no longer can believe anything cannot make up its mind. It is deprived not only of its capacity to act but also of its capacity to think and to judge. And with such a people you can then do what you please.

Its not just about Trans

LangCleg · 13/03/2018 18:11

Thing is I'm not poor I just don't fancy remortgaging my house because some woman in West Yorkshire doesn't like it that I remind people that she took her son to Thailand to be castrated.

In any case, what she fails to understand is that there is a growing movement against this regressive, sexist and homophobic ideology. People are actively looking for ways to contribute. And it's creeping out, bit by bit, from feminist circles. Once wider society really begins to realise what's going on, they won't know what's hit them.

aRespectableBureaudeChange · 13/03/2018 18:17

Indeed Posie - it is not about money it is about support and others knowing that they won't be left on their own if willing to speak out.

One way that others can show commitment is by raising money.

Proves supporters aren't disappearing into a puff of smoke.

BeyondDeadlySiren · 13/03/2018 18:18

"some woman in West Yorkshire doesn't like it that I remind people that she took her son to Thailand to be castrated"

Well the easy way to avoid criticism of such a choice would have been to not illegally castrate your minor dependant. Hindsight is a fabulous thing... 🙄

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 13/03/2018 18:27

Nobody should have to remortgage their house over this. This is a collective fight. Some of us can afford money but not visibility: posie and others who speak up are giving the silenced a voice. We all give what we can.

thebewilderness · 13/03/2018 18:42

This is perhaps the most frightening thing about the generational effects of child abuse. That the abusers become advocates of child abuse as a means of self justification.
Alice Miller's work often comes to mind when I read about parents like those of Jazz and Jackie, and so many others.

womanhuman · 13/03/2018 18:43

posie, you’re brave enough to speak out when most of us can’t or won’t. I’m happy to contribute to a fighting fund.

Yours was the first voice in this conversation that got through to me, that piqued my attention enough to make me do my own reading and thinking, so thank you. 💐

IntelligentYetIndecisive · 13/03/2018 18:51

Donated. ❤

stickyice · 13/03/2018 18:58

Just on all of this I know there is an event coming up in Whitehall that Posieparker will attend but why would Stonewall like tweets that are so anti the event?

Have they gone Trans centric as an organisation.

I am just reading through Andrew Gilligan's twitter. He doesn't seem to buying it but the drivel they post all so anti the event.

AngryAttackKittens · 13/03/2018 19:05

Precisely. Not that I'm not feeling the desire to support Posie specifically in this case, but I'll also support other people who I like less in challenging this idiocy because it's dangerous and it needs to be challenged. The fact that every time a fundraiser happens there's a flood of donations shows that there are lots of us looking for ways to get the ball rolling in terms of challenging what's been going on.

Freshlylaidterf · 13/03/2018 19:07

Posie you are a real inspiration. Power to you! Have donated. Good luck.

Mouthtrousersafrocknowandthen · 13/03/2018 20:08

O'Brien is quoting Fox. He is one of the Labour Trans gang which has Lily on too.

What a ghastly man. I guess Fox wants to be like him.
