Relevant section:

Meanwhile, a woman who criticised a transgender charity on Twitter has been questioned under caution by police and told she will be arrested if she tries to leave the country. Kellie-Jay Keen- Minshull accused the group Mermaids of “suppressing free speech”.

She had accused Mermaids, which calls for children to be allowed irreversible sex-change treatment the NHS currently prohibits, of “prey[ing]” on gay teenagers and of “mass child abuse”. Mermaids declined to comment.

@therealposieparker

There is a woman who has donated who frames herself as a trans-widow.

She has asked to be put in touch with others in her situation.

She may well already be on here, but just in case she isn't, could you put her in touch with the thread linked below.

Thanks.

thanks xx

I was thinking of contacting this lot. There are separate ones for different areas of the country

www.gov.uk/police-and-crime-commissioners

According to the website you can;

^Contact your police and crime commissioner (PCC) to make a suggestion or a complaint about how your local area is policed.

PCCs are elected to make sure that local police meet the needs of the community. Contact your local PCC about:

how your area is policed
the police budget
the amount of Council Tax charged for the police
the information you get about what the local police are doing^ Hmm

Was it West Yorkshire Police that went after Posie?

Terftastic · 12/03/2018 19:40

Yes, it is West Yorks Police. They could have referred it to Wilts police, but chose not to - instead they chase Posie across five counties....

I'm guessing you have to be in that area to make a complaint?

But I think there is absolutely a case to be made against WYP for the time and resources taken on this fool's errand. Hotel overnight & travel for 2 officers? Time & resources in tracking down someone on Twitter? Is a test case justified on these particular tweets?

I think a shout out for all those MNetters in W Yorks to raise a complaint on this.

Franksense · 12/03/2018 19:42

Has the full text of the tweets been published anywhere?

Twitter?

If you follow the unconditional affirmation route, which Mermaids does, you have to be prepared for a challenge.

The end result of transitioning is little to no libido, permanent sterility, prepubescent genitals, or irreversible genital surgery. With all the complications that arise from that.

That outcome, to me, does not correlate with their ethos.

The coming out parties, the cakes, the elevating of a psychological condition, to something high status and aspirational.

The marketing simply does not translate to the reality.

The allure of 'sweets and puppies' is wildly inappropriate to the end result.

Oh ick! The sweets post just made me think of the creepy men trying to pick up children with sweeties. So disgusting!

Just saw on another thread they are using unicorns now too. Using mermaids, unicorns, penguins, puppies, sweets is so dodgy. Anything where you have to 'cute' it up or have incentives (sweets, cakes, puppy cuddles, celebrations) is not able to stand on it's own as being desirable/appealing. Why are people missing this trick?

I am not on Twitter. Don't have any idea how it works, can some one/everyone tweet a link to this or some other thread?
I am working on a draft email. Will post it tomorrow.

Report serious concerns to the Charity Commission, for example if a charity is:

not doing what it claims to do
losing lots of money
harming people
being used for personal profit or gain
involved in illegal activity

Wonder how the arguments for 'harming people' and 'involved in illegal activity' look at this point ...

But then, of course, only men are actually people - unlike women and children.

CAAKE · 12/03/2018 20:23

I've donated Posie xx

aRespectableBureaudeChange · 12/03/2018 20:24

Floof - me too - will get my first ever Twitter account sorted this week - bit like Reddit - never really 'got' it but this issue means I will have to crack on with it.

SmurfOrTerf · 12/03/2018 20:37

I wasn't really paying attention but Jeremy Kyle has just done a programme on the emergency services, he did say that the police budget had been cut by 22% in the last 5 years.

Franksense · 12/03/2018 20:47

I’m keen to donate and help with this but would like to read the content of all the relevant tweets first- has anyone got a link to them?

MrsJoshDun · 12/03/2018 20:57

Can’t we get one of the Spectator slightly gender critical friendly journalists to cover this? I think it’s a major story!

Fishfingersandwichnocheese · 12/03/2018 21:00

I hate to say this but what about the daily fail ? They’d love this.

No friend to women but he do have an enormous readership ..

I agree I think the daily fail would love this. Two angles, firstly the fact that kids are being given puberty blockers, etc......but they’d really love the second angle of the police wasting so much time on this.

LabourLostMe · 12/03/2018 21:08

Does anyone have screenshots of the Tweets?

Mouthtrousersafrocknowandthen · 12/03/2018 21:16

The problem with the Posie case is the child in question is out and about looking very pleased with their self so saying it was a disaster will puzzle people.

The real disaster is the distress of parents etc. that don't want such an extremist CEO shoving this ideology down all kids throats at a vulnerable time. The disaster is how every institution is now shoving it down all our throats without thinking about it properly.

Making a happy looking "model" the evidence is a red herring. The real elephant is the fact that the legislation give a minority control over everyone's rights. That's not an appropriate intention of a law.

Akire · 12/03/2018 21:33

The tweets are still
On her account so you just need search her username.

Franksense · 12/03/2018 21:42

Yes but that’s a lot of tweets to go through! Would be great if Posie herself could link to them or even just post the dates and times. I can’t donate without due diligence.

Fishfingersandwichnocheese · 12/03/2018 21:42

Even it is has been a “success” it was hardly appropriate behaviour in my view.

It’s illegal here for a reason.

Vango · 12/03/2018 21:45

Throw in a grant of £126k from BBC Children in Need for good measure. I’m very disappointed about that.
