Relevant section:

Meanwhile, a woman who criticised a transgender charity on Twitter has been questioned under caution by police and told she will be arrested if she tries to leave the country. Kellie-Jay Keen- Minshull accused the group Mermaids of “suppressing free speech”.

She had accused Mermaids, which calls for children to be allowed irreversible sex-change treatment the NHS currently prohibits, of “prey[ing]” on gay teenagers and of “mass child abuse”. Mermaids declined to comment.

It is probably better to donate anonymously and put a message of support on here. I am sure the messages will have to be switched off once TRAs get wind of it anyway Hmm

Flooffloof · 12/03/2018 15:54

Private eye have already printed some stuff,,if I can find my last copy i will transcribe.
The last leg may be interested.?

CisPinkHoodie · 12/03/2018 15:57

Nah, too controversial for the Last Leg I reckon. Great if they were though. nicely mainstream

ElenOfTheWays · 12/03/2018 16:07

Jazz thinks that falling in love is going to produce a sex drive that they are incapable of because they haven't been through puberty.

I wonder if this somehow ties into the "if you really loved me, you'd do it" thing that a lot of blokes seem to come out with.

Totally bypassing the idea that women's desire or lack thereof has anything to do with their consent to have sex.

I recently had my naive notion that men grew out of this mindset when I was pretty much told this by a man in his 50s.

biscuitmillionaire · 12/03/2018 16:16

So was Posie charged, and if so, with what?

Datun · 12/03/2018 16:21

She has been interviewed under caution. No charges have been brought, as yet. She is waiting to hear.

Flooffloof · 12/03/2018 16:50

I have checked the private eye copy I have still, but it's the previous one that has a "gender realignment" cartoon. 1462 in case anyone has it.
This copy has a mention of mumsnet but it's not self Id.
I only buy it occasionally but am most happy to email in and see if I can get the eye interested.

aRespectableBureaudeChange · 12/03/2018 16:53

Worked it out - well done Posie, I've put a message on rather than choose anonymous setting in the end.

Atthebottomofthesea · 12/03/2018 17:00

I have been reading since yesterday, and can't find a way to sum up how I feel. But this is a worrying development not just in regards to the trans agenda but on a much wider scale. Someone says something you disagree with, report them to the police. However TA threats against women seem good to go.

TERFragetteCity · 12/03/2018 17:02

10% already. Excellent.

BeyondDeadlySiren · 12/03/2018 17:03

Elen, it certainly made me think jazz has an impression that sex is “lying back and thinking of America”!

SuitedandBooted · 12/03/2018 17:10

Legal Fund for Posie here

May already have been posted, but thought I would add it anyway

Have also forwarded the details of Posie's "chat" with the police to my MP, asking for his opinion on the use of police resources....

CisPinkHoodie · 12/03/2018 17:10

Floof

I think they'd be interested in it from the POV of police conflict of interest too

GenderApostate · 12/03/2018 17:23

I’ve donated, it’s the least we can do, it could have been anyone of us instead.

I’m wondering how/why they picked her instead of 100+ other Women, myself included 👁

The poster you referred to on Sunday in this thread is still here but too worried to post again on the subject. They are a friend of mine. I too have grave concerns about Mermaids. The poster you referred to was relieved that the concerns they raised about the child in the court case were finally confirmed. They of course received no recognition that their concerns were justified and no apology from Mermaids for the way they were treated when raising those concerns.

CisPink
I will come back later, I have to go to work right now, and find an email address.
And maybe post what ever I send.

Akire · 12/03/2018 18:11

Donated- thanks for info on how to change names. Comes to something when apparently hate speech is stating a physical fact. If judge dosnt throw it out of court and give everyone kick up ass I will eat my hat.

WooWooSister · 12/03/2018 18:26

Myself and DH have donated. I peaktransed him last year and he's appalled at what Posie's case means for free speech.
Posie thanks so much for being brave enough to front this challenge Flowers and I hope the CPS don't leave this hanging over you for too long.

therealposieparker · 12/03/2018 18:35

I'm slightly blown away actually....

I'm really touched.

If you bother to listen, Mermaids has been, and will always be a great support network for trans people.

Mermaids is a pressure group. We have had more than one parent on here with experience with them, we even had Mermaids staff come on during a conversation about them and doxx the member involved, on here, put their details in AIBU (I believe it was) for everyone to see, just because the member was discussing what a negative experience it had been. A judge has also ruled that they nee4d to stay away from a child due to their behaviour.
