Meanwhile, a woman who criticised a transgender charity on Twitter has been questioned under caution by police and told she will be arrested if she tries to leave the country. Kellie-Jay Keen- Minshull accused the group Mermaids of “suppressing free speech”.

She had accused Mermaids, which calls for children to be allowed irreversible sex-change treatment the NHS currently prohibits, of “prey[ing]” on gay teenagers and of “mass child abuse”. Mermaids declined to comment.

Just off the top of my head I think there was pressure in the US to have it removed from the DSM 5 which was successful and for it to be reclassified as a medical condition instead...?

I'm not quite sure where I'm going with this line of thinking, it's just that I'm now wary that the people writing for NHS website are being unduly influenced by TRAs...is the NHS website fact based & objective

I share your concerns. You can contact NHS Choices to ask for their evidence base for their transgender pages. I can't do this for professional reasons

My adult son told me a few years ago that he wanted to be female, I really can't get my head round it. From what s/he says no-one has challenged what s/he says or checks if there are any underlying health issues. Quite honestly I think if I were to say that I was a rabbit then I would be believed. I want the best for my child but I am so worried about where this will end up and if any happiness will come of it all.Thanks for listening all.

Parents want the best for their child. It is a very emotive issue. The narrative takes that and turns it against the parent, with all their talk of suicide statistics etc. You can only do what is best with what you have at the time. Big Hugs ((((()))))

Re: the crowdfunder, be careful about putting your real names in. You might end up on a TRA hit list.

And don't put jokey obviously-fake names in. The TRA will bully the site into refunding those donations.

All NHS treatments are supposed to be based on scientific evidence and research. This research is supposed to be conducted properly and backed by peer review.

If your real name is there with your comment you just need to edit your profile on crowdfunder so that your username (public) is not the same as your full name (private). I think if you've just set up an account then your username is automatically the same as your full name...
