Relevant section:

Meanwhile, a woman who criticised a transgender charity on Twitter has been questioned under caution by police and told she will be arrested if she tries to leave the country. Kellie-Jay Keen- Minshull accused the group Mermaids of “suppressing free speech”.

She had accused Mermaids, which calls for children to be allowed irreversible sex-change treatment the NHS currently prohibits, of “prey[ing]” on gay teenagers and of “mass child abuse”. Mermaids declined to comment.

Children shouldn’t even know what castration is, let’s alone be brainwashed into it and subjected to it while they are still considered too young to responsibly vote!!!

Also, how are they squaring this?! My sister couldn’t even get sterilised at 33 despite begging for it, she’d had all her children and was certain she wanted it done. The doctor refused (and this was last year) because he didn’t want to get sued if she changed her mind.

But apparently young children won’t ever change their minds ever Hmm

My nephew wanted to be a Pokemon for a while when he was little. We did not get him ear and tail addition surgery and rename him Pikachu. We just got him Pokemon socks, which he was already bored with by the time he outgrew them.

It's like these people have never met a child before.

Isn’t it a breach of human rights to prevent someone from travelling abroad if they’re not under arrest? Confused

We are still in the EU after all.

Efrig · 12/03/2018 10:22

My youngest son was a cat for four years. We’d have to engage in quite detailed role play throughout the day. He definitely identified as a cat.

Melamin · 12/03/2018 10:43

Jazz J is not the only one with 'not enough material to work with' it would seem......... does anyone know what the documentary is that this comes from? (and who discusses their son like this Confused )

As an aside it is interesting/illuminating? to compare the actions of police coming miles out of their area to question someone about a few statements on twitter and the inaction of police in Telford who have done sweet FA about thousands of girls being systematically raped - see thread currently running on FWR

Priorities eh?

Efrig · 12/03/2018 10:53

The grooming gangs were doing the job for them. Oppressing and hating on females.

Travelling to another area to oppress a female due to not having anyone around to do it for them.

Right, i'd considered creating a new thread for this as it's not just linked to trans stuff; it's quite an interesting exhibition commenting on female ideals, perfectionism etc I want to write an essay on it for many reasons, mainly as I find it fascinating within the context of all anatomical art, medical/scientific and used as the artistic subject but I think it's really pertinent to the word 'castration' if this is what the complaint about posie is. (And yes another nc.)

I went to an amazing exhibition that's just opened at the Bowes museum by Jonathan Yeo called Skin Deep yesterday. It's mostly paintings of cosmetic surgery (all women - bar a chequered man??) , and a series of breast augmentations, reductions, a pregnant Sienna and bfing Lily Cole and a gender reassignment ftm that I'm sure was titled "mastectomy". An image of C Jenner was used in a write up; I'd actually like to spend more time looking at it and processing my thoughts.

Watch the first part of the video.

The surgeon describes the operation as a female undergoing a mastectomy as part of a gender reassignment operation. Arty critique; I found it intriguing that this was the most 'graphic' image. I could also have a good chat about how JY's male response may have affected composition to these painting... but I'll stop!

Basically, this is what a surgeon describes the operation as. What is the difference when describing the castration of a male as part of a gender reassignment op? Note the use of female to describe sex, gender reassignment to describe the process. Not sex reassignment.

https://www.jonathanyeo.com/pageskinn_deep

Anyway, it's stunning; if you can see it do. (And I know I'm preaching to the converted.)

(Further arty critique; the exhibition to me is starkly in contrast to the paintings of the journey of breast cancer patients by Susan Macfarlane in the 1990's, designed to demystify and sensitively comment on the physical processes involved. This is real comment on how 'perfection' of women's bodies in society really affects women. The tan lines shown on yeo's implant paintings were notably poignant.)

Melamin · 12/03/2018 10:58

Yes - that was the one featured on the Today Programme last Thursday. They all just carried on as if it was a nose job.

AngryAttackKittens · 12/03/2018 11:08

I've often gotten the feeling that because of the weird sort of atomized way that men look at women's body parts when they're wanking they don't quite realize that our breasts are part of our bodies. It's like some of them think of breasts as disembodied removable parts. TIMs certainly do, so I don't think it's surprising (though it doesn't make it any less disturbing) that some men see mastectomy for trans men as no big deal, just minor cosmetic surgery.

And now I've creeped myself out and I need to go find some videos of fluffy kittens and puppies to cleanse my brain.

anotherchangename · 12/03/2018 11:14

Sorry, perhaps a trigger warning needed there.

It was interesting Yeo hasn't included the faces with the breast paintings; I think there was a comment why but can't remember. Though, all the surgery pics was just an image of the area to be operated on.

anotherchangename · 12/03/2018 11:15

no big deal, just minor cosmetic surgery

Yeo wanted to make the point that it really wasn't a big deal.

SuitedandBooted · 12/03/2018 11:16

Just sent email to the GMC - I don't have time for a long letter, but I think short and to the point often works well.

*Dear Sir/Madam,

I have just discovered that the Transgender charity, Mermaids, claims that they are endorsed by the GMC. (SEE ATTACHMENT).

As their CEO, Susie Green, gave her 12 year old son puberty blockers (obtained privately from the USA) and then took him abroad on his 16th birthday so he could be castrated, I would be interested to know;

a) Do you actually endorse their actions and advice?
b) How is their approach compatible with your guidance on protecting children and young people, as stated on your website HERE?

www.gmc-uk.org/guidance/ethical_guidance/13257.asp

Yours faithfully,

etc*

anotherchangename · 12/03/2018 11:21

Good letter suited, thank you.

Another last point before o get on with work; if this test case of posie goes ahead, I'll be asking why no one has been arrested and prosecuted in the U.K. for FGM offences and how is this any different?

BoreOfWhabylon · 12/03/2018 11:27

As I understand it, the legislation specifically covers female genital mutilation. Not male.

BeyondDeadlySiren · 12/03/2018 11:32

If JG’s surgery had been the opposite way, do you think there’d be a prosecution for FGM then? Cause I still don’t.
Bit racist, no?

"I'm not worried about suppression having longterm effects on my sexual drive because I know that once I fall in love and I really admire another individual that I'm going to want to have sex with them," Jazz said.

This was linked on that Twitter feed.

Jazz thinks that falling in love is going to produce a sex drive that they are incapable of because they haven't been through puberty.

coleridge · 12/03/2018 12:07

This whole thing is so sinister. It genuinely reminds me of the start of the fantasies that some of the more terrifying TRAs on Tumblr have; we all get arrested for daring to disagree with them, we all end up at a woman's prison that's half full of trans women and then...violent fantasies about what we deserve for daring to be 'TERFs' ensue. Yay.

I'm still hoping sanity prevails. Most normal people have at least some qualms with trans activism and the proposed GRA changes, and more and more people are getting informed and saying hang on a minute...

Honestly, the fact that they're now trying to get police to punish us for wrongthink has made me even more steadfast in my beliefs. Yes, people should absolutely be able to express themselves and have their own personalities, but there are so many contradictions and things that don't stand up to scrunity in what the trans activists peddle. Biology determines sex, gender is nonsense, intersex conditions don't negate the sex binary, biological sex is important (I see this every day in my work as a biomedical scientist), immutable, nothing to be ashamed of, and should never be used as a prison or to assume what kind of person you'll be. Children should not be pumped full of hormones. Puberty blockers are potentially dangerous.

I will never believe that transwomen are women and are indistinguishable from biological women, and the more people try desperately to suppress our thoughts and questions, the more I remain firm in this belief. And I will never stop feeling sorry for gender-dysphoric people either. I believe trans activism and the nutty lies they tell make things worse for truly dysphoric people.

Sorry for the rant, I'm just so sick of this nonsense. I keep doing research. I keep being shocked by how nonsensical it all is and how nastily violent TRAs are. It's all so unconvincing.

Kalikan · 12/03/2018 12:18

Am beyond horrified - I'm too skint atm to donate funds, but more than happy to hand myself in for thought crimes (apparently I've committed quite a few of them), happier still if anyone's up for helping coordinate a group of us doing it?

MrsWooster · 12/03/2018 12:23

Just emailed Charlie Massey of the GMC and linked to Posie's news page on fb. Time to stand up. Any more help or support needed as the case goes on, Posie, post on here or your site and we will be their either a royal we or a making myself feel better by linking to other mners as I feel a bit afraid...

Efrig · 12/03/2018 12:28

Without a sex drive a person won’t want to have sex. Without sex, a relationship is in significant danger of failing. Without a relationship many people will become lonely, isolated and unfulfilled - not everyone will feel this way, but it’s a basic human drive to connect with another on an intimate level and it’s always nice to have the choice at least.

How much mental anguish and illness is going to occur due to these practises?

Statistically speaking, the persons most likely to harm children, are their parents.

Bangkokhilton · 12/03/2018 12:58

@Fairyflaps following your post about concerns about the NHS promoting Mermaids on the page about transgender on the NHS website, I've just been looking up what they say about gender dysphoria:

https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/gender-dysphoria/

On this page it specifically says that gender dysphoria is not a mental illness (is that true?). It also says that puberty blocking hormones for children are completely reversible...

Does anyone know if the UK officially classifies gender dysphoria as a mental illness?

I'm not quite sure where I'm going with this line of thinking, it's just that I'm now wary that the people writing for NHS website are being unduly influenced by TRAs...is the NHS website fact based & objective?

If gender dysphoria is no longer classified as a mental illness then perhaps that encourages people to believe in the nonsense of "female souls" born into male bodies & vice versa? If it's not a mental illness, what is it? Also, if it's not a mental illness then why would psychological treatment help (in some cases)?

On the gender dysphoria treatment page on the NHS website it specifically talks about giving hormones to children:

www.nhs.uk/conditions/gender-dysphoria/treatment/

"The effects of treatment with GnRH analogues are considered to be fully reversible, so treatment can usually be stopped at any time after a discussion between you, your child and your MDT."

Fully reversible? No mention of any bad side effects for children taking puberty blockers? (Risks for adults taking feminising/masculinising hormones are however, discussed further down the page)

Is @MoseShrute able to shed any light on this at all?

Thanksfor @therealposieparker - you are amazing! There are a lot of us supporting you & thankful you are standing up for the truth.

DNAnotGRA · 12/03/2018 13:51

Enough already, I think this is a cunning plan to create an insane society who can be manipulated into believing black is white

WooWooSister · 12/03/2018 14:01

Bang iirc trans activists campaigned heavily for gender dysphoria to be re-classified. It used to be deemed a mental health issue but they argued it was innate like sexuality and hence was not a MH condition. It's one of the issues that concerns transpeople who don't support the activist line. Re-categorising it took away some of the support that used to be available to them.
As for puberty blockers, again, iirc there hasn't been a full study on their effects on teens. One consultant/professor (Zucher) that received funding to investigate the impact of puberty blockers on teenage brains, was hounded out of his position amid claims of 'conversion therapy' (because he didn't only support affirmative action as a treatment plan but tailored the plan to the individual patients) before he could conduct the research.
