Ugh, I didn't know the details of that story, now I feel ill. Honestly, I am astonished that the 'world' isn't jumping on that situation and appalled at what happened/is happening to the child.

And just while I'm having a wtf moment. Did I dream a thread on here where everyone was being coy about naming Susie Green's child a few week's ago, because there had been a Twitter furore over dead naming said child? (Accompanied by accusations of literal violence and transphobia?) When the mother and child in question had been deliberately courting the fucking national media splashing dead names and identity across the country? Eh? How can you ask the rags to publicize your transwoman beauty queen dreams, use yourself as a poster kid, and then complain that someone knowing who you are is literal violence and dead naming? (I mean, I know Liam does it when he needs money, so the rule appears to be that dead naming is okay if it's for personal profit and material gain, but it's literal violence and risking suicide otherwise). I cannot keep up with the cognitive hoop jumping required for this shit.

Presumably IF there is friendship between serving police officers who have a role in attempting to prosecute Posie, then there may be some evidence of collusion? Certainly it is worth it being flagged up to the IPCC who have the power to investigate this?
Not to mention an organisation which perhaps has funding connections to the police ? Invoices, specific projects funded, training paid for? At the very least raises concerns about a potential conflict of interest. Of course, depending on the evidence, there could be more serious criminal issues raised, but that would be for the IPCC to assess.

What matters is that in an open and democratic society, it is possible to raise such questions about the actions of pressure group in making use of the police to prosecute people for discussing the very issues that they have put in the public domain.

Indeed. Its just so strange how common sense has gone totally out of the window on this topic. I cannot think of any other kind of dysphoria where the treatment is to affirm that the person in correct in the way they see themselves, and medicating according to that. Its the same as agreeing that an anorexic is actually obese and giving them slimming pills, followed by lipo or something really isn't it?!

I’ve just had a very interesting discussion with my DH, who is gradually peak transing. I told him all about mermaids and he was horrified. He’s Swedish and the idea of. It allowing little boys dolls would be viewed very oddly here.

Anyway, we spoke about objective reality in the context of fake news and TV and algorithms google and YouTube use to push content. Apparentlyvthese algorothms go on popularity so a conspiracy piece with a million frothing comments will come out ahead of a measured factual piece.

So here’s a huge problem with the information that’s being fed tonpeople generally.
This whole fake news shit is eroding the idea of an objective reality. And it leads to attitudes like this because it feeds the idea that everyone’s opinions are equal. And they aren’t. Your antivaxxers saying their opinion is valid because they’ve done ‘research’ - well sorry but no your opinion isn’t the equal of the thousands of peer reviewed works done by say the WHO.
It feeds this idea that everyone has their own little opinion setcthats just as valid as everyone else’s - and that is why they get narky when challenged.

I’m a scientist - if someone criticised my work and says no, look at this data, I’m going to look at it. Because I accept that my model may be wrong and more data is generally good. I may accept or reject that new data.
What I don’t do is start whining I’m being bullied by haterz because someone is offering data that conteadicts mine. i accept there is an objective reality and that not all opinions are equal
To start turning this round on the person criticising is a classic abuser technique. It’s incredibly dangerous and people need to start pointing this out. Constantly. To everyone who pulls the ‘bullies’ card.
